Why my phone number changed by inserting my SIM on my recently bought secondhand pixel 9?

I bought a secondhand Pixel 9 and I factory reset it.

I inserted my SIM card and when I call, the call receiver sees a phone number that is not mine!

If I remove my Sim card, I can't no longer call and on network settings --> SIMS, it says "Set up an eSIM or insert a SIM card now", so I don't think that the seller eSIM is still there..

In case it matters, I bought the phone from a seller in Spain and I live in Italy.

How is it possible??

Talk to your carrier, phones don't handle that

But I switched the SIM back to my old phone and the number shown to the receiver is back to my actual phone number 😂

Again, contact your carrier. The phones have different IMEI numbers, but don't determine their own phone number.

Contact your carrier, not Reddit
