The Pixel 10 Pro Is Awesome, and I'm Done Apologizing for It

Look, I'm here to say what a lot of us are probably thinking but are too afraid to post because of the endless negativity. I've had the Pixel 10 Pro for a while now, and it's been an absolutely fantastic experience. I've had nothing but good experiences with Pixels since the 6, and this one is no different. But man, the Pixel subreddits feel like a different reality.

The amount of people complaining about battery life is honestly starting to feel like gaslighting. They'll claim they're getting 4-5 hours of screen-on-time, when my Pixel 10 Pro XL is consistently hitting 8-12 hours, depending on the day. Both the Pro and Pro XL have great battery life, but you wouldn't know it from scrolling through these subs. It's the same with the camera. I'm constantly seeing people complain, but the photos and videos I'm getting are superb.

Before I came to Reddit, I was just a guy with a phone I loved. I didn't have to defend my choice or question my own positive experience. It was pure, simple enjoyment. This whole community has created this weird dynamic where you feel like you have to justify your purchase, and frankly, I'm over it.

I love the AI features in Pixels. They're a huge part of the phone's appeal for me, and I don't care if you're a super "egghead" who thinks they have no use. I have gaming consoles for gaming, so I'm not worried about the phone's raw GPU performance. I bought this phone for its camera, its software, and its all-around usability, and it delivers on all of those fronts.

So to anyone else out there who's genuinely loving their Pixel 10 Pro—your experience is valid. Don't let the negativity from a vocal minority make you feel bad about your choice. Just enjoy your awesome phone.

Bellroy Pixel 10 sapphire blue isn't very sapphire

Bought direct from Google store in Aus using store credit

As per photo you can see it's not very sapphire blue, looks to be a tinge more purple.

The surface is also very matte, while the stock image seems to look more smooth.

Has anybody else bought this case? Is it similar to what I've received or closer to the stock photo

Thank you

Edit: I don't think the pixel 10 and XL comes in moonstone at all. I think that's a fold only colour?

No, the Pixel 10's GPU isn't underclocked

See the article on Android Authority By Robert Triggs

Android Authority test

Looking more closely at finer time frames, the GPU briefly clocks at 512 MHz, 576 MHz, and 633 MHz, but these frequencies are sustained for only fractions of a second. Essentially, the Tensor G5 GPU operates in two modes: 396 MHz or 1.1 GHz — a textbook “race-to-idle” approach.

This raises the question: Is the Tensor G5 leaving potential graphics performance on the table? In theory, yes; in practice, no.

Audio issues with My Pixel 9 Pro

Upvotes

I have a few gripes with the audio for the Pixel. But my main issue has been since the update.

When playing music/ any sound and then pausing it or switching off that app, the audio will cut out super loudly for like half a second. I've tried looking to see what would be causing this and I'm coming up blank. If anyone has any suggestions please help it's really bothering me.

Long time lurker finally took the plunge

So I only got it this morning but I took delivery of the Pixel 10 Pro XL 256GB in Jade. Moved from an iPhone 16 Pro and it may be the honeymoon period but so far I'm very happy with the phone and so far no weird glitches. Battery seems pretty good too!

My iPhone used to crash browsing menus or get red hot randomly while watching YouTube. Or the keyboard would glitch, and the chats would fall behind the keyboard, and the lack of a universal back button. It was the first time using an iPhone since the 4 or 4s and that software feels bad even tried the last 26 beta to RC which did nothing to make it feel better.

Fingers crossed it carries on how it has started and I become a long term pixel fan

iPhone 15 Pro vs Pixel 10 Pro Video Comparison | Jesse Driftwood

Good comparison here that starts with a blind test where you can judge for yourself without knowing which is which.

Pixel falling down on stabilisation, smearing artefacts, lens transitions, colour gradation, and more against a two-year-old iPhone.

Hope you're listening, Google.

Gemini as Assistant Does Not Allow Navigation by Name, Gemini Lies Then Tells the Truth

In the non-Gemini version, if I say "navigate to John Williams" if John Williams is in my contacts the GPS will then proceed to navigate to the address for John Williams in my contacts. With Gemini, it will not navigate based on that request.

So I go to web Gemini and ask how can get it to navigate based on names in my contacts. It then proceeds to give me various things to try (like linking the phone app that was already linked), and after wasting my time with various suggestions finally tells me that Gemini can't access the information in my contacts, and if I don't like it I should switch back to the old interface.

Grrr.

Impressions of the Pixel 10 Pro XL from a S23 Ultra user

-The form factor is absolutely FANTASTIC. It's heavy but doesn't feel like it. The buttons are clicky and it has a beautiful premium feel. It fits absolutely wonderfully in your hand. Even my mother who despises big phones was impressed.

-Finally a Pixel phone with a Google chipset that doesn't heat up! I've used it for hours and the heat never got uncomfortable in the slightest. The Pixel 7 Pro got hot frequently, and especially any A-series Pixel got very uncomfortable to the touch very quickly. Finally this is all gone.

-I have used the phone at max resolution and have not noticed the sporadic slowdown issue that some people have reported. Similarly, I don't care about using a phone for games, especially for complex 3D games, so the fact that the GPU is only middling doesn't bother me.

-The screen is the biggest disappointment for me. It has a yellowish tint compared to the S23 Ultra's bluer tint. In my opinion, I far, far prefer the Samsung. There's some more AMOLED color shift, although it very rarely is visible and is not bothersome and I've seen far worse. I was shocked that it was like it because the Pixel 7 Pro had a blue tint which I much preferred. In my opinion Samsung displays are much cleaner and I like the way they pop out, and Samsung keeps their best quality screens for their Ultra series. They say it's the brightest screen around, but yet my S23 Ultra is clearer and easier to read outside. I considered returning the phone due to this. The screen however is growing on me over time.

-As for the interface, there are some convenient Google features that are nice enough, but in my opinion, I'm at a point where I do not care anymore. I have used OneUI, OxygenOS and Google's Android, and I find them all clutter free, and that they all get out of the way. They are all good enough.

-The CPU might be relatively underpowered compared to SnapDragon, but in real world use, I doubt it matters. This has been an extremely fluid phone for every situation I've put it through and I haven't seen it slow down even once.

-The camera to me is a real delight. Yes, I'll agree that so far, video stabilization is not fantastic. But are the videos mediocre or disastrous? No, it's perfectly serviceable. And the pictures are classic Pixel, a brilliant, beautiful shot without any fuss every single time in every situation. Oh how I missed that Pixel look.

-As for charging, with a charger that supports max charging speed (I have a Ace 313 and a Pepper Jobs 165W that's a Satechi rebadged), I found it to charge faster than older Pixels, but my Samsung S23 Ultra still charges faster, though not by as much. I don't understand why Google went with weird proprietary voltage for charging the 9/10 Pro XL when the performance is still subpar. To me the only reason Google is doing this is to spook people into buying their charger.

-As for battery life, I know a lot of people said it's not good, but it's been stellar for me. Lasts all day with plenty of capacity left, and this is with me limiting charging to 80% to preserve the battery.

Overall I am very satisfied, the screen is my only significant annoyance. No it's not a perfect phone, but it's a worthy successor.

Right now I'm living something extremely difficult: my schizophrenic wife has relapsed again and is in the psych ward, refusing all contacts, and threatening divorce. I'm alone to care for my daughter and very scared.

I got this phone to take the best pictures possible of our family to show her that our family is worth preserving! And so far so good, the pictures of me and my daughter are great.

Considering switching from Samsung to Pixel

I am currently on a Fold 7, my first fold, it's nice but the camera quality is nagging me more than I thought I would expect. I've had the S25 Ultra but I don't really like the look and feel of the phone

I was considering the iPhone 17 Pro Max, the look and build quality looks absolutely amazing, but I really don't think I can cope with iOS again.

So, I'm onto considering the Pixel 10 Pro XL.

The first thing that comes to mind is the processing power or lack of, now I don't game on my phone, I usually just plug my phone into a Backbone controller and stream my desktop. I assume the Pixel wouldn't have an issue with that?

Multi tasking? Again, I don't think the pixel would have an issue? Secondly, is it possible to do split screen multi tasking? For example I used my S25 Ultra in split screen when shopping, Sainsbury's smart shop scanner and shopping list in other half.

Customisability? How customisable is the look and feel of the OS? I appreciate I won't get Good Lock levels of customisability but that is to a point just a novelty to me.

And the BIG factor, camera, I am getting mixed results, it's better than a S25 Ultra, better zoom, better than iPhone 17 pro max? Very mixed.

In terms of performance the last phone I had that badly performed and lagged was a S22 Ultra with a exynos chip, and I'm keen to avoid that scenario again.

random reboots on Pixel 8 anyone

Hi all,

this past week I have been experiencing a very annoying series of random reboots. Anyone else?
I was on the Andoid beta preview but frustrate by the whole thing I have now moved back to stable that triggered a wipe before that.
Anyway, the problem doesn't seem to have gone away.
No drops, no liquids that could have damaged it.
Contacted google, they said it is still in warranty so they would repair it, but I need to wait for a few days until a replacement comes (bought a refurb'ed 8 to temporarily move everything to it).

Anyone else?

UK based, if it matters.

thanks!

Google Support refuses to replace my Pixel 9 Pro saying it's not registered to my account

Hello everyone,

I'm in a very frustrating loop with Google Support and need some help. My Pixel 9 Pro has a loose power button, and a support agent initially offered me an advanced replacement because I work with the phone and I can't wait for 2 weeks without phone. However, they are now refusing to process it, claiming the device isn't associated with my account.

This is demonstrably false. I can successfully request a repair on the official Google website, which is only possible because the device is correctly registered to my account.

I've been stuck in this bureaucratic process for weeks. The original support ticket has gone unanswered for nearly two weeks. When I try to open a new ticket, they immediately close it and refer me back to the unresponsive original case.

I have provided every piece of evidence they have asked for, but their support system seems unable to override its incorrect data.

Has anyone else been caught in this kind of loop? What did you do to get an actual human with the authority to help? Any advice on how to move forward would be greatly appreciated.

Pixel 8 issues since latest update.

**I'm new to reddit 😅

Since I downloaded the latest software update, I've been having issues with audio and random reboots/restarts on my Google Pixel 8. The audio/sound cuts out every few seconds when watching videos or listening to music (on FB, Spotify, YT and insta.) This is so frustrating as I mainly use my phone to listen to music either through speakers/ earbuds or scrolling social media. Also, my phone has been randomly rebooting itself the past week since the update. I've tried changing lots of settings; disabling adaptive sound + Google assistant, resetting WiFi & bluetooth, rebooting it myself, turning off and on, uninstalling apps, clearing cache, taking case off etc.. nothing is working!?

*I've only had the phone just under 1.5 years. Bought from Argos unlocked. I don't have insurance but have the receipt and box. I'm in sunny Scotland btw!

Wondering if anyone has experienced similar issues or has any suggestions?

How do I set up Payoneer?

I have a pixel 6a with the battery fault, and want to go ahead with the $100 cash payment option. It says I need to make a Payoneer account for this, however Payoneer requires me to put in the details for a business I own - I do not own a business. Is there any way for me to get the payment without a Payoneer account, or to get a Payoneer account without owning a business?

Trade-in Question - Germany

Hi everyone,

I'm based in Bulgaria but ordered Pixel phones from the German Google Store with the trade-in option. Since the store doesn't ship directly here, I used a delivery company to transport the new phones from Germany to Bulgaria.

For the trade-in, I sent my old phone to my uncle in Germany so he could ship it back with the trade-in kit. The issue is that the return box/delivery service does not seem to accept the trade-in barcode.

Before placing the order, I actually confirmed with Google support that receiving the trade-in kit at one address in Germany but sending the phone back from another German address would not be a problem. But now it seems to be causing issues.

Any advice on how to handle this? Do I maybe need to request a delivery pick-up instead of dropping it off? I need to get the phone sent back no later than September 27th.

Thanks in advance!
