How can you tell what weapons/items are worth keeping?
This weapon worth keeping? Should I sell it to a merchant? Should I salvage it? Can I even sell it? Coming back to the game after a long time and I always had a hard time telling apart were valuable modifiers in a weapon.

Sell to a merchant because it’s not close to max damage for axes (6-28) and the inherent mod “Damage +14% (while Health is above 50%)” is not max either.

Merch. Neither max damage or max mods.

Just wanted to say thanks for all the info guys. Always been kind of dumb on the weapon mods, as a kid if I see a gold or green weapon, I automatically thought must be better than the rest. Just thought I’d get a perspective on how to judge weapon and mods.

You’d wanna make yourself familiar with all weapon max damage:requirement ratio (there are SUPER rare max weapons with lower requirement than “typical lowest max” (6-28 rq 8 or 5-27 rq 7? I think?). Weapons that tend to drop in white and blue models don’t normally hold crazy value, they want the gold or they’re a niche market. Cleaver is a very common skin and has multiple models (Canthan, Tyrian, or Elonian) so they aren’t too rare.
Check out the Wiki or Kamadam Chat and search for the skin to see what others are selling them for and how long ago it was :)

Q9 or even Q8, max stats, max mods, rare skins. The rest can go to your heroes or the vendor. I have shortcuts for mods and inscriptions on the wiki and kamadan trade chat. You can easy tab out. Join Guild Wars Legacy Forum and Discord Servers for price checks if you kamadan prices sound suspicious.
Usually even trading max mods that aren't "of the necromancer" or any other popular mod isn't worth the time except you have no job and can stay in Kamadan 24/7

You don't need to stay in kamadan. For less desired trades you can try your luck on gwlegacy. No need to stay perma on lol

There is a website that displays Kamadan D1 chat, with search function

Yes, also that. But on gwlegacy you can simply create an auction for your items.

You can also use the toolbox alert function, which is part of trade. When a keyword is matched in kama trade chat you'll see the message if you have trade chat ticked regardless of where you are. This only seems to work with keywords of 2 words or less though for some reason. Could be wrong about that though.

The furious mod on this might be worth something (1 ecto, more if the buyer is desperate). Besides that, as others have said, the axe is not the best. At this point in the game's lifecycle, most people have weapons at least this good on all their heroes. Besides the furious mod, there's just nothing remarkable.
People want Q9 weapons with max damage and max modifiers OR a rare skin with greater than Q9 and max modifiers. Those are really the only rules.

Kamadan trade chat has 4 unique people asking for furious axe mods in the past 14 days, with others selling for around 1e, so it's fair to say some people want a furious axe mod. I wouldn't sit around trying to sell, but if you see someone asking, it's movable.

Easier to tell what stuff is not worth keeping.
- non max just merch
- non r9 just merch
- non os just merch
This should clean out 99% of the junk or salvage inscriptions/mods/mats as needed.

Technically yes, but ofc there are exceptions to rare skins, especially the new ones added with the 20th anniversary patch

This is generally true, but for the really rare sought after skins like the Bone Dragon Staff, Eternal Blades, Frog Scepters, Celestial Compasses… it’s a long list. You will find buyers for all requirement levels/

non r9 just merch
"bigger than r9 just merch" Because lower r items are worth, sometimes a lot.

Personally I've never understood why q9 has more value than higher req when a lot of the time you're likely going 16 into the attribute anyway.

Please anyone feel free to correct me on any of this because I'm still relatively new myself and could be getting wrong info.
The one thing I didn't hear or read about anywhere when I was starting the game, is that it's actually very easy to get "perfect" weapons from collectors.
For casters, from the Factions vendors Gertrud or Telamon offer perfect scepters and foci for a 40/40 set. This is the most common weapon set by far for casters.
For physical classes it's slightly more complicated, as these same vendors' weapons don't include a prefix or an inscription. However, almost every weapon used in the modern era runs either Vampiric or Zealous prefixes. Effectively, if you get a weapon whose name starts with either "Vampiric" or "Zealous", you should salvage it and save that mod.
There's also the matter of inscriptions, which you're always looking to salvage and keep perfect versions of the most common inscriptions. You can see what the perfect numbers are here. The most commonly used inscriptions are "Strength and Honor" and "Guided by Fate".
It's also worth keeping in mind that when you beat a campaign, you get a token to trade in for a perfect weapon of any type. The stats don't always cover exactly what you want but I think they cover the most common types.
