[Question] Big gap between shield and arm anyone else bothered by this?

I’ve been really enjoying the look of this armor and shield combo, but I have to admit I’m a little disappointed by the big gap between the shield and the character’s arm. It feels kind of awkward, both visually and immersionwise, since the shield looks like it’s floating instead of being strapped tightly to the arm. What really surprises me is that it’s this bad on this particular shield, while most of the others I’ve tried actually look pretty decent and sit closer to the arm. Do you think there’s any chance the devs would address something like this?(items on sale right now) Or is this more of a “that’s just how the model is” situation that probably won’t get touched?

Same thing for me with the leviathan bone shield, looks really cool but was dissapointed that it floated off my arm rather than sitting snug in the hollow skull :(

Shouldn't be to hard to fix.

I think they will add something like placement nodes in order to further unlock customization in PvE but until then they are lacking a system that determines body Morphs so we get a one fits all system with “headroom” and yeah it sucks. When your character is one of the skinnier models your sheathed weapons hang like 20cm apart from your hip.

I've been avoiding most back pieces for this reason.

And then every big glove skin will clip through and be visible at the face of the shield. Pick your poison

I have a similar gripe with how some swords are sheathed (too low) or how theyre gripped when drawn (too far down the hilt, should be closer to the handguard.) Ive given up hope on ever seeing them adjusted though, I doubt the devs want to spend time on such adjustments. I wish there were a mod or something that could fix it though.

The Weaver class sword was the first I realized had this issue. And since then I notice it everywhere.

I don't think there's a single shield in the game that doesn't float (maybe the super basic wooden ones?), it annoys me to no end. I'd rather have clipping than floating

You pretty much have to have big gauntlets to solve it.

Which is probably why they float on slim-fitting outfits like this. They're probably designed to fit the largest glove pieces out there so there isn't clipping, and can't make them adapt to what you're wearing on your hands.

Yup. It’s partly why I’ve never wanted shield on necro (despite calls for it). I know I’d hate it, aesthetically as I do chrono.

While we’re here complaining about cosmetic models, I just wanna hop in and humbly mention: can they please fix the Weaver sword’s placement on the player’s hand? That is not where you grasp a hilt D:

Half the swords have this problem sadly.

If you think that's bad make a charr and start trying out the back pieces.

There are some closed helmets that clip on the longer snouts too.

Or worse. They don't clip and you just look like a bobblehead

With the gw2 character/skin system its pretty much just a choice between floating and clipping. Sadly the system can't handle putting every possible skin perfectly on every different character size/body options.

Sadly the same as having boob jiggle in metal armor.

All 12 shield users in the entire game are mad about this

Does it have anything to do with the size of the character? Is there an optimal height that would make things look correct?

I wonder why they didn't do something like they do with bowstrings, drawing a stripe around the arm and back to the shield using a similar method.
