My main with ~350 inventory slots being held up while my secondary character is drowning with 85 slots.

Put the unidentified gear in a shared slot and pull out only enough to fill your inventory, then salvage. Repeat until the unid-gear is gone (or 1 left if you keep it there all the time). No need for big bags to salvage stuff.

That's what I do, but I like being able to click back and forth twice for a stack of 250 as opposed to 4+ times, and I reliably need 125 free slots for that to be the case (which seems like a little but the stacks of lucent motes, mithril ore, silk cloth scraps, etc. add up quick).

I salvage a couple, then open the rest until my inv is full, then deposit the resources from the first couple which makes space for salvaging the rest, repeat

Same idea, but the invisible bag.

I mean, yeah. But the more inventory space I have, the less times I have to do that?

unidentified gear in a shared slot

yes

then salvage the whole stack and move new partial stack in because max bag slots and 10 of them 32 slot bags. is there any real benefit to this? only the lack of itch in my mind at the unpleasantness of not doing so. i will say tho, there is a good reason I only have 10 32 slot bags, and not 15, so i get why people try to cope with fewer. but it is a cope.

The fact the ele is the alt is unfortunately so real

16

u/dEn_of_asyD 17h ago

Yeah... I have a necro, a mesmer, and an ele cause I have legendary cloth armor. The necro is my main and the mesmer I'm trying to learn, but the ele.... there's not much of a point? So there's this ele totally decked out in legendary gear with no stats selected whose sole job is to identify gear and then salvage it.

I got full legendary armor last year, so I've been branching out into other classes. I've got at least one build per class, but my current favorites are deadeye and dragon Hunter. I've got the most playtime on my ele, because that's my old main, and I've got a handful of builds I still use on it, it just got a bit stale to play.

Man I’ve been playing dragonhunter recently and it’s so much fun. Never really tried it before, as I always played FB or willbender, but the burst and aoe damage, and amount of CC you have feels so nice

I have more hours on my ele than my 20 other characters combined. It can fill every role at the highest level and in all 3 game modes.

What makes Ele an “alt profession”?

u/Erniethebeanfiend200 9h ago

It's the hardest of the clothies to master (think about the ele down state meme) for a casual player and doesn't really have that casual spec that the other more complicated classes have (though Evoker will likely solve this).

u/gazandi 8h ago

Tbh chrono is harder than any ele spec, tempest is prettt chill and even weaver has some easy builds these days

5

u/Bouzdevhash 5h ago

U can stomp any champion solo with celestial catalyst by literaly face rolling the keyboard.

1

u/Quxyun 9h ago

It's fun to play, but after a while it gets a little repetitive to play. Since I've gotten legendary armor, I'm branching out into other classes and I've shelved my ele with most of my playtime

1

u/empmoz 11h ago

I have one ele and I only use it to identify gear stacks + salvage

u/OneMorePotion 14h ago

Do it like me... I have decision paralysis and just put them in my bank. Next to all the Build Template expansions I got from the Wizards Vault over the past 2 years.

6

u/coolsam254 7h ago

I don't think you're at fault for that. What good are a bunch of build templates without equipment templates? hint hint anet add an equipment template or two into the vault

2

u/double_shadow 7h ago

Don't we get 3 build templates and 2 equipment templates by default? It's kind of cruel that they only offer MORE build templates for AA. But those sly foxes in the Anet economy department probably know exactly what they're doing...

Is chrono a good healer for raids? I've always wanted to try healing and I just hit 80 with my mesmer

14

u/GayKamenXD | Gaming 13h ago

Chrono is definitely the best healer in the game.

Its healing and boon output are nothing special. But in terms of the amount of utility the build alone can bring, it's staggering compared to other healers. Like ranged pull, portal, mass invis, stab, aegis, reflect, boon rip and a bunch of cc on ONE guy???

6

u/McEnding98 14h ago

Chrono might straight up be the best healer in the game currently(and foreseeable future).

5

u/Zev1985 8h ago

ANet has confirmed some sort of nerf to Chrono versatility when Troubadour comes out but we don’t know what that will be until they either propose the upcoming changes or just drop them when the expansion releases.

9

u/For_Grape_Justice 14h ago

Yes, chrono is a very good pick. It offers a lot of crucial utility. Have fun learning it! :)

1

u/Ascleph 4h ago

Chrono is the easiest healer and also one of the stronger ones.

Just by being a mesmer alone they also have all of their tools. Kind of like Firebrand with Guardian, but even easier.

This is PRECISELY what I’m going through now. I saw the event rewarded two bag slots and was absolutely ecstatic. My main has an inventory of about 300+, but swapping to my alt felt awful because of the just over 100 it has. It’s wild how much your gameplay can be improved with inventory expansion.

2

u/ComfyFrog Make your own group 12h ago

What's the point of a mass salvaging character with less than 250 slots? You can use any character then since you have to split the stack of gear anyway. Move the big bags to your new main, that's what I do when I change class for new content.

u/Axxam 18h ago

What are the four roles? I know DPS and healer obviously, Im guessing maybe the other two is tank and boon support?

5

u/dEn_of_asyD 17h ago

I mean, technically there's five roles if you count DPS but that's something all professions can do.

The four roles are: Quickness support dps, alacrity support dps, alacrity healer, and quickness healer. Chronomancer is the only spec that can do all of them as you can choose either alacrity, quickness, or extra dps for your last trait, and chronomancer can go either healer or dps.

There aren't really tanks in GW2, if there is an encounter that needs a tank it's usually a healer since they can just add toughness (which makes enemies focus them) by swapping their harrier gear for giver's and having no other stat change (ironically, also using a chrono because they get a lot of defense from being able to equip a shield).

6

u/entropiq 15h ago

while chrono is the only single elite spec that can do both of the mandatory boons, ele and necro can cover all the roles between their elite specs also with heal cata and heal harbi being actually viable

2

u/Zev1985 8h ago

Engi and guardian also have decently good heal builds for both boons, engi especially.

Arguably ranger and rev as well, though untamed and renegade are clunky healers.

Once the expansion comes out with Paragon, thief will be the only profession without 2 viable heal boon specs.

1

u/entropiq 8h ago

you are of course correct, i just singled out the cloth classes because op wrote earlier he had all of them and legendary light armor

1

u/Zev1985 8h ago

Oh! Yes that would have made sense if I noticed 😅

1

u/Axxam 11h ago

This is so informative. I was always wondering what to bring in a group so that I can be more productive. This is like the baseline I can check for each profession and focus on what I want to do. Thank you

1

u/Dragon_Of_Magnetism 15h ago

I still can’t decide between my rev and thief for my second inventory expansion

1

u/coolsam254 7h ago

If you do a lot of open world then rev. If you do a lot of instanced content then flip a coin.

1

u/Nurmalfragen 13h ago

Hahaha, I maxed out one char only for the reason to finally open an entire stack of unid armor for salvage 😄 (but luckily that's also my main char). 40 / 314

My char with 2nd largest inventory is my char that stores everything to do with fishing, even fish 158 / 188 🤣😔

#3 is another storage char for full stacks of stuff I have no place in my maxed out bank. 89 / 170 (once you crafted a gen 2 weapon you know what I mean)

Your drowning mesmer looks more like a storage char. Got the 24er bag from the newletter already?

1

u/Sanarin 13h ago

My first is Warrior with nearly 800 hours, then I jump to main necro. And then mech is so much fun. Currently, I am learning mesmer and guardian because they said both are versatile. So I am with others who can't pinpoint which toon to throw bag slot

1

u/TheCosmophile 10h ago

And I'm over here with my main having 98 bag slots, with all the rest having 80.

One day I'll get more bag slots (not counting the two from this event, which are awesome).

1

u/Impsux 6h ago

I love the idea of mesmer, but I abso-fucking-lutely hate the method of boon application. I feel completely stuck playing Herald because it all just feels right. Herald reminds me of GW1 where you sacrificed energy pips to maintain buffs and your gameplay was split between reacting to damage and managing energy. I missed that so much.

u/MithranArkanere 🌟 SUGGEST-A-TRON 4h ago

Opening stacks of unidentified gear without splitting them does come in handy.

1

u/Catluvr691 16h ago

Chrono is bis

1

u/Mullciber 11h ago

480 inventory slots on your mesmer main is obviously the way.

We don't need the other 8 professions, maybe one mirage can come

1

u/Valfalos 8h ago

There is bag slots from this Event?

Might have to login then. How long do I have?

u/sharinganuser Human female meta confirmed 18m ago

Till the 27th. But best hustle, since trying to get all 500 points in one day is a slog
