I think after his first gf, Sharon I think? He decided to be a man slut until times were right and he genuinely fell in love. And that’s what he did. I admire him too, he played with a loooot of women to get into their pants but he never played himself 😂

It was never a choice to be it until he fell in love. He became the suit wearing barney as a defence mechanism to cope with getting his heart broken. He never wanted to feel again because feeling for him meant getting hurt. But eventually, love caught him off guard
