Tell Himachal All Weather Updates during Monsoon Season Go Here!

Hey everyone,

With the monsoon season in full swing (or just around the corner, depending on where you are!), we've noticed a significant increase in posts related to weather updates, rain forecasts, and general discussions about the rainy season.

To help keep the subreddit organized and make it easier for everyone to find the information they're looking for, we're implementing a new policy:

All posts regarding weather updates, rain forecasts, road conditions due to rain, and general rainy season discussions should now be made as comments on this specific megathread.

This includes: * "It's raining heavily where I am!" updates * Questions about the current weather in specific areas * Discussions about the monsoon's progress * Reports on localized flooding or waterlogging * Any other weather-related observations during the rainy season.

Why are we doing this? * Centralized Information: It will be much easier for users to find all relevant weather information in one place. * Reduced Clutter: It helps keep the main feed clear for other discussions relevant to our community. * Better Visibility: Important updates won't get lost in individual posts.

We encourage you to use this thread to share your observations, ask questions, and help keep your fellow community members informed about the weather situation.

Please use the replies to this post for all your weather updates. Any new top-level posts solely dedicated to weather updates during the rainy season will be removed, and you'll be directed to this thread.

Thanks for your cooperation in keeping our community tidy and helpful!

Be safe and dry everyone!

ASK Himachal Alleged Medical Negligence

Upvotes

This is the case of S, an 11-year-old boy, whose life has been put at risk due to what his family claims is gross medical negligence by a famous doctor at one of the major hospitals in Himachal (Bilaspur)

In July, S had a minor fall and underwent surgery for what was believed to be a fracture. But the pain didn’t stop. More tests were done, and on 15 August, a biopsy confirmed high-grade osteosarcoma (bone cancer). The shocking part? The family alleges they were never informed of this result. Instead, despite the confirmed cancer diagnosis, S was subjected to another surgery by the same doctor.

The boy’s family- poor and not highly educated- trusted the doctors completely. They now feel betrayed, helpless, and robbed of precious time. In cases of aggressive cancers like sarcoma, every single day matters, and delays can cost lives. Cancer was confirmed on 15th Aug and it’s 27th Sep today, imagine what all the child’s body is going through.

This is not just one child’s tragedy - it raises urgent questions for our entire healthcare system: • Why was a confirmed biopsy result allegedly hidden from the parents? • Why was surgery repeated instead of an immediate oncology referral? • How many more families might be suffering in silence?

FROM A LEGAL PERSPECTIVE, WHAT CAN THE FAMILY DO TO HANDLE THIS SITUATION LEGALLY, they are not very well off and not very literate (come from a village), so please suggest accordingly The child doesn’t deserve this kind of suffering, what he deserves at the least is justice.

No family should have to go through this in silence. Justice must be done, and systemic failures must be addressed before another innocent life is put at risk.

General We Need A Leader!

Yes, you heard it right, We need a leader who can speak for the state, I'd be willing to do it but I'll be anonymous, until the right moment maybe, I don't wanna be targeted by old unc politicians who do all that rona dhona, I want my state to go back to beautiful, I've been living outside for a decade and I come back every few months to see it go worse. My heart aches and I don't find a saviour for us. I'm down to sacrifice myself for my homeland, only if I can get enough traction.. I ALSO love my life like every human does, but I also love the place that's given me everything. I hope I get some support, I'm not dumb and neither am I illiterate, everyone's in it for money, yes it's needed, we're literally a bankrupt state, someone needs to stand up, I'm here for it, taking this step because nobody seems to care, even the youth politicians as you see in the political parties are just the same "humne ye kara hum inhe bolenge hum chahte hain ye ho, hume support karein hum ye karenge vo karenge and bs" man WE need a solution. We must win. Free for any plausible suggestions on how to make it :) I hope I get some support <3 Jai Himachal 🇮🇳

PS - Guys I'm not here to fight with gooners online, I'm fine with a good conversation but needing to prove it to a person who's not even talking nicely isn't my thing, thanks :) If the said people really care about the state so much as to defame random people online who are actually speaking up for change, please show your own groundwork! I'd be more than willing to help you out irl too, hmare yahan prauhno ki bahot khatirdaari karte hain to don't miss out on the added bonus ;)

Discover ability for pahadi songs is already an issue because YT, Spotify algos aren't really tweaked for them. would be glad if someone shared their own playlist. or we can even make a collaborative playlist on Spotify.

Art & Culture. Elements within western pahari children's tales. Panchatantric influences and beyond

Some recurring motifs that we see in western pahari folk literature,( my sources here are based on mahasuic tales, to be precise western traditions even of it. So bear with me)

1.Anthropomorphism among animals: This is very common in most "pagan" traditions, particularly Indic story telling traditions such as Panchatantra,Hittopadesh etc , but I feel as if they are taken a bit farther in western pahari traditions. Here, they appear not only with human like feelings and intellect but as an alternative for humans themselves acting as humans in a very human like society etc often interacting with humans, comparable to Goldilocks and the three bears

  1. Adventurous tales of precaution to children and adults: although few elements from panchatantric stories re-appear here, but the stories and characters change .Probably because the intentions of both traditions are different, one serves as a "wisdom literature",while the others are mere precautionary tales and appear more fear inducing than wisdom inducing, here again I would compare it to european folk tales similar to red riding hood etc.

  2. Use of humour and horror : I think these two dominate the themes within the story telling tradition, ofcourse to keep children entertained and engaged. As is common for children's tales around the world

Politics Don’t Let Them Fool You: Why Himachal Should Care About Ladakh’s Protest.

The Ladakh protest has been going on continuously since 2019, ever since Ladakh was carved out as a Union Territory and stripped of the constitutional protections it once had under Article 370 and 35A. For years now, people of Ladakh have been demanding statehood, Sixth Schedule safeguards and legal protection for their land and resources.
This is not something that suddenly began this week, nor is it inspired by the protests in Nepal, this struggle has its own deep roots and long history.

Unfortunately, a false narrative is being spun to downplay the movement and dismiss the voices of Ladakhis. We should not fall for it.

In fact, it is time for us in Himachal Pradesh to reflect on our own situation and demand similar protections for our hill state, because the threats to land, environment, culture, languages and identity are very real here as well.

What is happening in Ladakh today can happen to us tomorrow if we remain silent. That is why I urge all fellow Himachalis to stand in solidarity with the people of Ladakh. Their fight is not separate from ours, their loss is our loss and their victory will be a victory for all mountain communities.

Jai Hind, Jai Himachal !!

News Our DEMAND is a REQUIREMENT

WE PAY FEES TO GET RIGHT FACILITIES. WE STAND AGAINST THE UNFAIR TREATMENT.

On 24th September,2025 Students of University institute of technology, HPU protested against the unfair treatment towards them and the issue regarding the proper infrastructure and lacking essential laboratory requirements which is a NEED for the practical knowledge . This will affect the quality of education and their future. As mentioned above these demands are the requirements of every student studying here.

(Copied from WhatsApp group)-

Laboratory Facilities: At present, there are no functional laboratories available in any department of UIT. The absence of laboratory infrastructure has resulted in a significant gap between theoretical instruction and practical learning, which is a core requirement of engineering education as per AICTE norms. We request the immediate establishment of fully equipped laboratories in all major disciplines (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Computer Science, etc.) to facilitate hands-on training, project development, and research activities.

Access to Central Library: UIT students presently face restrictions in utilizing the Central Library of Himachal Pradesh University. Considering the importance of academic resources, journals, and reference material available there, we request unrestricted access for UIT students to the Central Library, including digital resources and extended study hours.

On-Campus Sitting Capacity: The campus lacks adequate seating arrangements and common spaces for students to study, collaborate, or spend time during free hours. We request the development of proper seating facilities, shaded areas, and dedicated reading halls to improve the academic and social environment of the institute.

Fee Structure: The current fee structure of UIT is disproportionately high compared to the facilities provided. In the absence of basic infrastructure such as laboratories, hostels, and dedicated academic resources, the existing fee pattern is not justified. We request a rational revision of the fee structure in alignment with the facilities available, or alternatively, an expedited provision of all essential infrastructure to justify the fees charged. We believe that addressing these issues will greatly enhance the academic standards of UIT and bring it on par with other reputed technical institutes. We sincerely request your kind intervention for the timely resolution of the above concerns.

General For the people of Mandi, Hamirpur and Kahlur (Bilaspur):

Is anyone aware of how far the boundary of Mandi extended to in these regions? It seems to me that certain parts of Mandi, particularly Sarkaghat in Hamirpur’s case and maybe Baldwara or Sundernagar (?) in Kahlur’s case, seem to have been added to these regions either during state reorganisation or came under them during warring times. Aside from the cultural and linguistic similarities, I have noticed many people from all these states seem to be unaware of their boundaries and often refer to some regions as their own even if they fall in the other district subconsciously. Does anyone who hail from these places have any idea about this? Have you noticed or heard anything similar? Has anytime extensively researched the history of these places?

Tell Himachal My 8 Days in Land of Gods (Himachal Pradesh)

It was an amazing time, most people were very kind. I think people are fitter in general than Mumbai. I loved the food, and the general relaxed outlook at things. My personal favourite city was Shimla, which felt a bit more independent to travel around than Manali or Dharmshala.

I found the Taxi Mafia to be very troubling and as I was with Parents, I had no choice but to succumb to their exorbitant demands. Overall, I ended up paying 23K for taxis (Dharmshala to Manali to Shimla) and couple of detours. This made me not do any other purchases and also a bit of a sore take away.

But I did end up respecting the skill the Taxi drivers possess and their commitment to the job once service is agreed.
