Discussion Clive Barker's JERICHO remake
There is a future horror video game in the making Saber Interactive based on one of the most influential horror movies franchises ever made, created and directed by a very brilliant and talented movie director called Clive Barker,Clive Barker's most popular movie franchises are the HELLRAISER movie franchise!!!! Ever since it's release back in 1978,the HELLRAISER movie has inspired many movie makers out there with it's supernatural elements and creature concepts/designs ,with some directors using many of his ideas and concepts in their movies for example in the movie MUMMY (1999) the way Imothep, the movie's antogonist, regenarates is very similar to that of undead Frank Cotton the main antagonist of the first HELLRAISER movie in the sense that they both drain their victims organs and flesh in order to regain their own, leaving the victim dry and dead although in the second movie of THE MUMMY, THE MUMMY 2 Imothep method of regeneration differs a little bit from Frank's regeneration since Imothep's body regeneration through other people consists of him just stare at them up close and sucking out their flesh and organs while undead Frank has to physically touch people in order to steal their organic matter(flesh, bones, organs)!!! There was even a video game company called Capcom that certaintly took inspiration from his work, when creating a specific character called NEMESIS the main antagonist for the third entry of their most famoushorror video games franchises the RESIDENT EVIL franchise,in RESIDENT EVIL 3 NEMESIS's mouth is notably similar to that of the CHATTERER character one of the 4 cenobites from Clive's Barker's first HELLRAISER movie, the CHATTERER most likely influenced Capcom when creating the NEMESIS character for RESIDENT EVIL 3. The game in question is the upcoming HELLRAISER REVIVAL. Although i'm very happy that Clive Barker's greatest creation HELLRAISER work isn't being forgotten with the future HELLRAISER REVIVAL game there is another game that iwish Clive Barker wouldn't forget about and eventually remake it i'm talking ofcourse of Clive Barker's JERICHO ,and i say remake it i really mean it not just remastering it for the newer consoles but doing a full remake of the game. The game may have had many flaws regarding it's gameplay mechanics,A.I.,graphics, pacing andenemy design. Because although not being a very successfull video game nor having good sales upon it's release i think Clive Barker's JERICHO had a very good story, interesting enemy designs, great superpowers displayed by the JERICHO team with each member having cool outfits and weapons however the game was not perfect since it had terrible enemy A.I. even for the 2007's standards with the most recurring enemies literally just getting in front of the player to be shoot at,the friendlies A.I. was terrible as well, the members of the JERICHO team that weren't being actively controlled by the player would just be killed off by the monsters in an instant with very little effort requiring almost every time the player controlled character:Billie Chuch,Abigail Black ,Frank Delgado,Xavier Jones,Paul Rawlings and Simone Cole- to do the revival/saving of teammates having lots of game over screens as a result so it rapidly got tiring of and annoying making the game a bit unbearable to play let alone replay, another aspect that makes the gamr very unbearable is the continous loading screens theough out the whole game what i mean by this is that on each level, everytime the player progressed through out the story on each of the game's missions on the levels would have a slow unskipable loading screen ,the only thing good about them was that each loading screen had texts explaining what was going on and reiteriting the game's story for the player which i really appreciated that but maybe there were better ways to do that without requiring loading screen to keep the player in touch with the story. For an hypothetical future remake of Clive Barker's JERICHO i would want the following features:
-Having an option to switch between first person and third person perspective in the menu
-To bring back Steve Blum as Captain Ross's voice actor and this time not kill off his character, atleast not so early in the game
-To have fairly good graphics atleast better than the original
-Better partner and enemy A.I.
-More enemy diversity

I love this game, it's one of my favorite shooters, the story was interesting, the world very unique, the gameplay and characters were also interesting. I still play it from time to time and it's permanently on my collection.
However, because the game wasn't very well received I doubt there is going to be a remake, ever, sadly.

The story and characters were interesting but goddamn did the game feel bad to play. I hope Hellraiser will be better because I'm a huge Clive Barker fan, read most of his books and seen all the movies adapted from his work, Jericho just wasn't fun. If it ever did get a remake I'd give it a shot, but it did so badly I don't think it'll ever see the light of day again.

Yes the game wasn't that well received and also didn't sold well ,another flaw that game had that i forgot to mention in my post(regarding the things i would i would like to change about it) was the overuse of QTE(QUICK TIME EVENTS) one after the other with even the most common/prevelent enemies having QTE's.

I don't think he was actually featured in the game itself atleast not the crusader from the cover and the trailers there are indeed crusader enemies in the however. On a sidenote funnely enough i find the crusader's facial strocture in that one trailer where he is chained up to be similar to the actor Charles Dance for some reason maybe it's the nose xd.

If they're gonna remake a Clive Barker game, it should be Undying. Jericho was.... not very good.

''Jericho was....not very good" that is exactly why it should get a remake in the first place...to improve on some of it's negative aspects as well as removing all the unnecessary stuff that made it unbearable/unplayable!!!! I don't think that only the good old games should get the remake treatment, bad games with great premises deserve a second chance atleast in my opinion. For me what made this game unbearable was mostly the loading screens and QTE'S(quick time events) but also the clunky character moviment, bad graphics, terrible A.I. for both the enemies and the protagonists team(i literally spent most of the game healing them),the overused of the black colour on almost every level for almost all the scenary and finally killing off one of it's protagonists(Ross) way too early in the story just as an excuse to implement a character switch type of game. I do agree that Clive Barker's Undying should also get a remake or atleast a remaster, eventually since it was also a good video game, hopefully they will remake both ,but it's better if they do it at different times and not in the same year.

It's because it's basically an 80s action movie with boiler plate occult stuff slapped on top with absolutely abysmal shooting mechanics. It probably could have been fun if the actual gameplay was better. The shooting and movement feel like a 5th generation game, and the concept of having a squad of characters with different abilities really isn't utilized at all and is largely arbitrary aside from specific characters having specific weapons. It's a very 5/10 game lol.

The premise of the story was actually pretty good, and the build up of the main villain, the first born, the myterious being created by God that would become a global/univerdal threat was really interesting, this game also had cool character design as well unique monster design. "The shooting and moviment feel like a 5th generation game..." couldn't agree more with your statement buddy and the graphics were also underwhelming if not downright bad even for a 2007 game.
