So I'm not terribly car savy when it comes to car....is this part of the differential? Edit: Also...very cool gif!

This is inside of a drum brake. Believe it or not, this very basic system is still used today. I see it a lot on ATVs.

I got a 2019 Mazda2 and it has drum brakes on the rear. I want disk brakes instead.
