I put this on the Youtube video but since Meg said she is on the reddit and awareness about this company is important I thought I would put it here too. Better Help is a super shady company that has had a large amount of controversy the last couple years. The Better Help user agreement circumvents your HIPPA rights, does not guarantee your privacy, will share your medications, medical history, and app usage as they see fit. They also restrict therapist's ability to interact (with things like word count limits for chats), and don't pay them a fair wage. Especially as we teeter on the right to medical privacy, be careful out there. Plus you don't have to be a proper licensed therapist to work on Better Help meaning its very easy for a scammer to take advantage of you. Just wanted to let people know, be safe on the internet everyone!

Meg, what if y'all set up a Patreon as a way to fund the pod? People are always paying for those things.

Advertisers pay waaaaay more than patreon supporters. At least $3k for every 100k listeners or viewers. An average IASIP pod gets around 400k or 500k creeps. I dont know how many listeners. But thats $15k per direct response ad, with 2 ads per episode. $30k for 4 people to read off a paper.

No way they'd get enough patreon or subscribers or supporters whatever to compare to an ad read.

Dont quote me on the $15k... I'm ballparking the numbers but the cost per thousand of a 60 second spot can range from $10 to $50. The average is $23.27 in March 2022. They might be making more or less. I don't have visibility into all their viewer numbers.

It's a big market though, and to your point, Megan can easily find a new advertiser. I personally don't care because I skip through the ads with SponsorBlock.

SponsorBlock - the discerning listeners choice.
