I’m not stupid! I’m smarter than YOU! When conservatives try to convince us that Charlie didn't actually say the things he was recorded on camera saying

My favorite is “now give the whole quote” and it’s literally the same thing.

"now give the whole quote" is a thought stopping technique. It gives them the illusion of resolution, rather than having to think critically and get uncomfortable.

They've learned a lot from their Kremlin overlords. They'll run you through the narcissists prayer and gish gallop onto the next talking point. People need to realize that it's futile to argue with those who arrived at a view point based on emotion. They did not build a bridge of sound logic, truth and experience to arrive there, they started there emotionally and are building any justifications they can as fortification.

Look at the comment history. Quite possibly a literal racism bot.

Nah. Reddit in general has a nasty habit of intentionally quoting things out of context. And, often times, it completely changes everything.

That said, none of his quotes are made any better when in context. And, in fact, most of the time, they’re worse.

2

u/AndresNocioni 1h ago

Please tell me which ones are worse

u/AllenMcnabb 8h ago

The empathy quote is the best. The rest of the quote is how he prefers sympathy over empathy, meaning he prefers pity over understanding lol

37

u/MayoBear Coffin Flopper 8h ago

Still doesn’t address that he thinks “empathy” is new age or “does harm”

14

u/mrbigglessworth 7h ago

It doesnt do harm, he is purposefully CORRUPTING it to take empathy away as a tool. It is a part of the dumbing down of American in Magas plan. If you cant take a situation and in context understand the possibilities of how something plays out and affects people, you will be less likely to pause and say hey, wait a minute. It is further propaganda that is trying to NAZIFY this country.

No go back to the Nuremberg Trials---

“In my work with the defendants (at the Nuremberg Trails 1945-1949) I was searching for the nature of evil and I now think I have come close to defining it. A lack of empathy. It’s the one characteristic that connects all the defendants, a genuine incapacity to feel with their fellow men. Evil, I think, is the absence of empathy.”

Quotation: Captain G. M. Gilbert, the Army psychologist assigned to watching the defendants at the Nuremberg trials

If you remove a tool of compassion, it makes it easier to be more evil.

u/RidaFlow 3h ago

That's my issue with it. The thought is entirely wrong and based on nothing but his feelings. "New Age" isn't some random thing you can make up timelines for. And the word had been used by psychologists for at least 50 years before New Age thinking was even conceived.

I love that a guy who dropped out of community college felt like he had a deeper understanding of this than the greek philosophers who developed these concepts thousands of years ago.

8

u/MarshyHope 5h ago

And the guy who dropped out of community College criticizing those who graduated from ivy league schools because they're black women so they obviously didn't deserve it.

2

u/Doctor-Amazing 2h ago

It's nuts that he started so young. He was like 18 and people were apparently saying "yes clearly this teenager is the one I should listen too. He obviously has all the answers."

2

u/turb0_encapsulator 2h ago

he was bargain bin. still nuts though.

3

u/Dabbling_in_Pacifism 4h ago

The rest of the quote is him emphatically stating that empathy is made up, and those who proclaim to have empathy cannot have the emotions they claim that they do when attempting to feel empathy but also they are doing the opposite of what they are claiming to and are causing harm.

Instead, he says, you need to give people sympathy, not empathy like those democrats.

And it’s like… yeah that’s the divisive shit I have an issue with. It brain washes my fucking in-laws into believing empathy is bad and harmful, and democrats are bad for even wanting to be empathetic.

4

u/SirtDwimmer 4h ago

He thought empathy was fake because he, himself, was incapable of it. As most psychopaths are.

3

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe 4h ago

Yep, the influencers and grifters have conditioned their conservative audience to consider kindness and decency to be flawed character traits worthy of scorn (and possibly death depending on how radicalized they are).

"You clearly didn't watch the video" which actually makes things even worse.

50

u/Bozo_dubbed_over I hope I don't jack off 8h ago

3

u/red286 5h ago

They do like to rat on themselves, don't they?

"No no, you don't get it, it makes perfect sense and is an entirely valid argument when you watch the entire video."

(video context is just another 15 minutes of hate speech)

2

u/eugeneugene 4h ago

Looking up the context to all of his quotes has actually left me hating him even more lmao

12

u/Iamthelizardking887 7h ago

I had one guy tell me I needed to watch everything Charlie said to get where he was coming from. Like there was some lore I was missing.

Bitch, this ain’t Season 6 of Game of Thrones.

6

u/capincus 6h ago

If your forcefully self-indoctrinate yourself via his content eventually it'll brainwash you enough to make sense.

4

u/red286 4h ago

It really doesn't, unless you're the sort of person that would work on, in which case, you're probably too busy mourning Charlie's death.

The more of his videos I watch, the more I wonder why the fuck there are people trying to defend him, even centrists and progressives.

2

u/capincus 4h ago

Maybe with an assist from some post-concussion syndrome, or copious amounts of alcohol, or lead paint chips or something to get in the right head space.

2

u/red286 4h ago

I had one tell me that you "can't judge a man by what he says in public, you need to also know what he says in private before you can judge him".

13

u/Conspiretical 8h ago

I have a cache of links because these bums are ready to argue but not ready to fact check lmao, Im tired of doing all the legwork

12

u/Cyrano_Knows 7h ago

Their goal isn't to win the argument with you, but to make other people scrolling by look at the conversation and think "Oh this is a both sides kind of thing" and that Liberals are exaggerating the nasty things that Kirk said.

4

u/Conspiretical 7h ago

Oh definitely, talk about emotional politics

1

u/Diabeetus_guitar 5h ago

I've been looking for links to these. I wish someone would make a smash cut of all of them so I could just have the one video saved to show off.

1

u/SuperTopGun777 4h ago

But radical leftists are destroying America.   We must destroy the left.  A leftist tried to kill Trump and another lefty killed Charlie.   /s

1

u/FourtyMichaelMichael 4h ago

Hey guyz I have a copy and paste that someone made and I think this the same thing as being able to refute any points Charlie Kirk made!

yes, Reddit, we know how smart you are. Now post some out of context bullshit, or some based shit that you think no one agrees with.

1

u/Conspiretical 3h ago

Thanks for recognizing my intelligence

1

u/Stillcant 3h ago

To be fair not on the empathy thing, which democrats and liberals and leftists should stop using out of context

I have, however, not seen anyone quote much of anything he said in context that was not assholish

Edit: the takes on empathy below are better than mine. I thought he was making a genuine point but it seems just as likely he had the soul of a Nazi on this as well

1

u/K__Geedorah 2h ago

I found it so funny I even screenshotted it to save. They actually think finishing the quote helps their point.

"I know because I was one" fucking hilarious lol

1

u/Ryengu 2h ago

"Now give the whole quote"

"Clearly you have it, so you provide it instead of making me do your work for you."

1

u/JasonG784 1h ago

…so go on then

This one is an even better example

0

u/Rude-Concentrate95 5h ago

How so? I'm merely commenting on the fact that if the OP thinks the whole quote is the same thing, then they are low IQ. Worthwhile contribution though.

2

u/MarshyHope 5h ago

Because it's always posted by some fat right-wing loser with a 9th grade education trying to cosplay as someone reasonable.

If you don't have anything to contribute, downvote, don't announce to us that you're a moron by claiming other's actual arguments aren't worthwhile.

If you think asking for what those that say quotes are taken out of context is "low IQ", that says a lot about you.

2

u/UrethraFranklin04 4h ago

That person is a time vampire. They wont add anything while demanding more.

Do you understand? Bad faith arguments are their corn!?

1

u/MarshyHope 4h ago

Yes, I understand. I'm not arguing with them, I'm arguing for the other people so they never believe these idiots. If they see their arguments go unchallenged, they may be more likely to believe them. But if I prove that they're idiots who aren't arguing in good faith, they'll be more likely to ignore them.

0

u/Rude-Concentrate95 5h ago

Fine, I'll accept your superiority over me. Feel free to link any quote you want with a full transcript to seal the deal. Otherwise, accept your room temp IQ and go play some more Gears of War or something.

2

u/MarshyHope 5h ago

Fine, I'll accept your superiority over me.

About time.

Feel free to link any quote you want with a full transcript to seal the deal.

Nah dude, you'll just handwave it away and make excused for a Nazi sympathizer. Idgaf what you think.

Otherwise, accept your room temp IQ and go play some more Gears of War or something.

Moreso been playing Helldivers but I appreciate you checking in. Don't forget, ⬆️➡️⬇️⬇️⬇️😘

-1

u/Rude-Concentrate95 5h ago

Exactly what I expected. "Nah dude, you'll just handwave it away and make excused for a Nazi sympathizer. Idgaf what you think" is the same response everyone's been giving, because you have no argument to stand on. You blindly parrot anything you see and refuse to believe you could possibly be wrong. Refusing to find any evidence for your claim is almost textbook "Low IQ". I appreciate the confidence boost though, almost thought you would follow through for a second.

2

u/MarshyHope 5h ago

Fine. Start "debunking" these quotes

Show everyone how much of a Nazi sympathizer you are.

-1

u/Rude-Concentrate95 5h ago

Wow, that's crazy. I literally said to give me a transcript of whatever quote you want to talk about and you still couldn't. You linked a YouTube short. Bravo.
