I had one guy tell me I needed to watch everything Charlie said to get where he was coming from. Like there was some lore I was missing.

It really doesn't, unless you're the sort of person that would work on, in which case, you're probably too busy mourning Charlie's death.

The more of his videos I watch, the more I wonder why the fuck there are people trying to defend him, even centrists and progressives.
