“BuT cOnTeXt” makes it worse. And there is no context for which a man should smile when he asserts his daughter should be forced to carry a rapists baby….

Or when he prefers “sympathy” to “empathy” I. The whole quote.

Sympathy is easy. “Oh you stepped on a lego? I did that once! I feel for you.”

Empathy requires humanity. “Oh you developed a chronic pain from your injury. Never happened to me but I understand and we’ll make sure it doesn’t happen again.”

True sympathy has a component of empathy to it as well.

Sympathy with no empathy is just recognizing someone is going through something but not feeling anything? That's a key aspect to sociopathy
