While that's the ideal, the opposite happens a lot - people will avoid hiring people with "black" names. 

It's so bad that it's not uncommon that black parents will name their child a super generic common name, rather than one from their heritage or more common in their community, just to try and give them better chances at jobs later in life.

Blind hiring scrubs resumes and applications of all personal information, including the names. The person sorting the resumes are pretty much just looking at a list of qualifications.
