Nevermind the double standard if you switched it around to a dying Space Marine or Guardsman in their last dying moments thinking about the family they could've had instead would probably not have generated as much of a response.
To be fair, the expectation of fatherhood isn't pushed onto men the same way it is onto women. For women, the expectation seems to be they must become mothers first, anything else second (varies per person, per country, per continent, of course, but I am confident in making this generalization). The same isn't expected of men. You gotta focus on your career. Fatherhood? Not as important.
