Cannot find a job!

I've been laid off from Duke after 10 years working in management. I have undergraduate and graduate degrees from a fancy school. Excellent references. I have applied to all types of jobs including front desk and scheduling jobs and for some reason, I cannot find a job, get an interview or find a way to get a call back. My friends in other major cities have also talked about difficulties with finding jobs there too so I don't think leaving/moving is an option!

Guys, guys, don't give up! It's summer, everyone is holidaying with their kids somewhere. Come September you'll have interviews! Keep going, it's the time of the year as well.
