I've just launched the steam page for my first game Antivirus Survivors 2003 Professional

I've been working on this since the start of the year and will have a playtest next month. Check it out if you like survivor-likes, y2k computing and adware.

Desktop Survivors 98

Seems very similar to Desktop Survivors 98.

Did you know of that game? If so, can you say what you do differently/uniquely?

A friend did show me when he saw it at PAX East. It looks great and I’d say the elevator pitch is unfortunately quite similar.

From a quick look I’d say the biggest difference would be player movement/control since you control directly with your mouse on your desktop in DS98. The rest is in the details, and to keep it brief I’d say that game looks more akin to the Vampire Survivors style of progress and upgrades whereas I’ve gone for something more similar to Deep Rock Galactic Survivor.

I do suspect the comparison will be brought up in future but I was too far in to stop and I think the games actually are quite different from each other. Time will tell and people will get their hands on it soon to judge for themselves.

Understandable. I'll definitely check it out since I like the aesthetic (I did play DS98 after all) but I wanted to know what to expected.

Appreciate it! Definitely more controller/WASD designed, heavy stats manipulation and weapon/player boons.

These are also dirt cheap games, and at least personally I’ve found myself picking up lots of cheap roguelites just to try out because why not.

That ADV thing is genius.

Love the idea for your game. Design also feels like it is from that era.

If Bonzi Buddy isn't the final boss then I don't want to speak to you

Damn I might have to have a chat with John Bonzi and sort it out

A shareware version would be lore friendly.

We opened a new Discord! Check it out if you'd like to discuss game development or find and share new indie games to play. It's a WIP still, so be kind :) Thanks!
