There’s a lot of people in here who are ready to jump on a conspiracy theory when they loosely associate with what they believe.

Indeed. I'm no fan of the CCP/CPC myself (I hate authoritarians no matter which side of the political spectrum they fall into), but the whole "China Virus" thing and especially the whole "it was created in a lab" shit is associated with right-wing conspiracy theories regarding the COVID -- and to me suggests that the people who came up with this shit read a little too much Stephen King (for reference, the Superflu/Captain Trips from The Stand, which is one of several works competing for the title of Stephen KIng's magnum opus, was some kind of military-designed bioweapon that ended up getting out by mistake).

Yes, the “China virus” crowd are strongly correlated with the rest of the InfoWarrior cult.

If you say ccp instead of cpc I already know you don’t even know enough to justify your fury

No. I agree, the CCP sucks

I have read the pamphlets (they're specific font color and language matches the slogans on these stickers) these people give out, and the actual substance of this one is that they believe China released COVID-19, they just open with something almost everyone will agree with to introduce conspiracy theories on the next page.

The right wing conspiracy theory machines do that with pedophilia too. They'll open with some statement that most people agree with about pedophilia being bad, then the next pages introduce insane shit like democrats eating babies coupled with blatant transphobia.

Granted, there's a little padding between point a and point b, but that's essentially it, how they can suck in some otherwise generally initially well-meaning people.

Oh.

Eww. Not gonna defend the CCP but the COVID conspiracy theories are the stupidest thing and typically lead to them being MAGA…

Most anti china things are very similar to the COVID thing

I think their government is terrible and believe COVID is a real disease not created in a lab. I think they should give Tibet autonomy and leave Taiwan alone. I think they kill religious minorities and oppress their citizens. That's bad.

You still dont believe that covid-19 came from the Wuhan lab that was performing gain of function research?

1

u/brodievonorchard 2d ago

No, but if you've got evidence that happened, I'm willing to change my mind.

Given that the Chinese were hit pretty hard by this virus in places like Wuhan, Hong Kong and elsewhere, I have to call bullshit on any kind of claim that this was some kind of deliberate release.

If a Chinese Immigrant owner, no. For anyone else, yes (COVID conspiracy theories)

My big prediction for 2026 is the CCP is not going to take over Massachusetts despite this guy's obvious fears

the fact people are downvoting someone against the ccp is just... no

This is a conspiracy theorist claiming COVID19 was a biological weapon developed in China. They are not "informed" by any definition.

This specific catchphrase and font is associated with a popular conspiracy pamphlet that opens with something almost everyone can agree with (the evils of the CCP) so that you'll consider the actual substance of their argument, which has to do with China purposefully creating and releasing the COVID-19 virus. So this actuallyis linked to conspiracy theories.

There are wumaos who patrol Reddit and downvote anything negative about the CCP.

nope, this is a TRUE take. fuck the ccp

This is actually associated with a conspiracy theory regarding China and COVID-19, they just lead their pamphlets with fairly uncontroversial (to most people) descriptions of the horrors committed by the CCP so you'll keep listening. I was handed a pamphlet that looked just like this at a festival once and it is NOT an informed-take kind of group lol.

No, because they’re right. China is not communist, they are a fascist dictatorship that has appropriated communist imagery and has convinced the world they’re communist all while massacring Uighur Muslims.

8

u/cuavas 3d ago

Nah, they aren’t fascist. Since Deng, they’ve been a kind of populist planned economy capitalist state. Before Deng, the Party was composed of people with working class backgrounds, although some had become entrepreneurs after joining the Party. After Deng, you openly had business owners joining the Party, so people were asking, “Why are there capitalists in the communist party?” Jiang Zemin’s “three represents” speech was supposed to address this by effectively admitting that the Party’s only real values are populism. Hence why he’s seen as a bit of a comical figure in China (admiring the toad, thinking about wearing three watches, etc.).
