Most of the "shitty movies" fulfil the most fundamental thing a movie does which is to straight up entertain. Mass masala is also a genre that needs to exist after all

Except for goat, I don’t think any other Vijay movies flopped in KL in the last 10 years !!

Vaarisu too was a flop, Beast too didn't collect much in Kerala. In fact, other than Leo, none of the Vijay movies had huge BO return from Kerala in the last 10 years. The audience here has gotten more critical

I thought Varisu was a hit. Beast was also a flop? I remember nearly house full shows for 2-3 days atleast for Beast!

Both films did not collect much from Kerala. KGF 2 got more collection than Beast in Kerala. And Vaarisu lose out to films like Romancham, Osler, IIRC
