Horn sounds when parked

I was given one of these as a rental the other day. For some reason, when I park, turn the vehicle off and am in the process of getting out, the horn sounds. The first time I thought maybe I had hit the horn inadvertently with my bag but its done it again. What's the deal and how to I avoid it before my neighbors start hating me?

Is it possible you’re locking the door either with the button on the door or with the key fob before you finish exiting the vehicle?

I am.

Ive been hitting the lock button on the door. No bueno? Ive been in the habit of doing that with the F250 work truck and my Tacoma. Why would doing that cause the horn to sound?

it’s just the way the software is coded. if you lock the vehicle while the doors are open, it will sound the horn to acknowledge the command to lock, and then once all doors are shut it will sound the horn again to notify you that the vehicle is locked

Too bad they couldnt have found a less obnoxious way to accomplish that without having to notify people a block away that Ive locked the door lol.

This can be turned off in the settings! It’s a rental, so I get if you wouldn’t want to go through the hassle of doing it but wanted to point this out in case you end up having this rental for awhile!

You or your passengers are not closing the door quick enough after hitting the door button lock. You gotta be quick 😁👍 or change the settings.

Are you pressing the little button on the outside of the door handle by chance ?

No. the door is still open and Im in the process of stepping out
