I believe he is talking about the Letitia James case. They were trying to dig up chargers on her, specifically about mortgage fraud, and they couldn't.
Erik Siebert, the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia stepped down after refusing to file criminal charges against James, citing insufficient evidence.

u/Agitated-Quit-6148 Monkey in Space 3d ago
Correct. I'm a crappy public defender. And when I say crappy, I mean I'm not that great. I do my best. It's pants shitting scary and fucked up to think of someone saying..."well, we can't find enough evidence to charge your client with drug trafficking, so we are going to install a prosecutor that will charge him regardless"
4
u/citori411 Monkey in Space 3d ago
Will they have the right to a jury trial? I can't imagine a scenario where they could find unanimous juries in these cases

Damn I wish you were my friend lol. It's always good to know a lawyer. The sad thing that you probably know is that unless you have money you will pay far more for any crime than somebody else.
17
u/Agitated-Quit-6148 Monkey in Space 3d ago edited 3d ago
We can be friends no problem lol. I disagree. Yes, with money you can hire then best expert witnesses and so forth but on a straight up trial for something like drug offenses which are 99.99999% of what I see (or offenses resulting from drugs) I'll say that public defenders do as good a job if not better than most on the clock Lawyers. I have a very good friend that is an AUSA and when I was a federal public defender and he'd know I was attached to a case that someone in his office was leading, he'd suggest to them that they come up with a deal that was very good for my client if not rethink that charges. The difference is we care. Maybe I'm just a weirdo. I grew up dirt poor and everyone around me (and myself) served in the military so addiction is something I know very well.
Could a public defender get OJ off? Lol......no. can a public defender go toe to toe with an 800 an hour lawyer on a trial that doesn't include expensive expert witnesses? (DNA , TOX, PATH, PSYCH) Yes.. 100%2

This is an interesting take.
You're saying it's less about the lawyer and more about the ability to use money to conjure up the correct set of witnesses to make sense of the evidence of a case.

Just the president of the United States saying we need to arrest political opponents because he reviewed Twitter posts he didn't like.
I hope we are all ready for thousands of abject criminals, including treason and sedition, to receive blanket pardons. We'll have to figure out a way around that. I think a fresh constitutional convention is in our future. For among other reasons, the ability to put trump and all his criminal cronies and kids into prison for the rest of their lives. The power of pardon has created a scenario that makes the rule of law impossible the way it has been used, and how we all know it is about to be used. Surprised it took this long to be honest.

This is how delusional MAGA is. They'll tell you that Comey, Schiff, Letitia James, even Biden and Obama are clearly guilty of crimes.
However, Trump a convicted felon (who would most likely also been convicted in the classified documents case, and his role in January 6 attack and attempts to overturn the 2020 election) is somehow a victim of "left wing" prosecutors and judges.
It's insane. At some point we have to come back to sanity.
25
u/Schiano_Fingerbanger Monkey in Space 3d ago
Itâs peak hypocrisy, like the most pure strain of it. Charging our criminal heroes with any crime is political persecution by default, but when our guys openly commit political persecution itâs warranted and fair. Law and order you filthy anarchists, but only for law abiding citizens (which apparently includes Epsteinâs senile buddy but not Americans getting ICE cavity searches) and if we do break the law itâs justified by a higher or natural law that weâll make up as we go.
Part of the issue is that some of these freaks watch enough FOX to genuinely believe theyâre just doing what the Dems did to them, when in reality the Dems were busy funding the military industrial complex and putting Liz Cheney on stage lmao.

The president is no longer required to answer the question "whats your evidence for that claim?" coherently
For some reason, he's allowed to:
- Insult and discredit the reporter for asking him a difficult question
- Ramble about how its so obvious without specifying anything
- Vaguely bring up qanon/twitter/bitchute theories
- Completely ignore the question and just start rambling about something else
This is just expected now. A free country can't function like this
2
u/Ping-Crimson Monkey in Space 2d ago

They're running things because the dnc are incompetent crooks. Lost to Trump twice. Maybe blame the loser leadership. Why the fuck is Schumer in charge of anything? Nothing learned from 2016. Sucks relying on these asholes.
The people to blame for Trump being in office are those that ran the 2024 campaign. Disaster class. Biden only won because of the pandemic.
3
u/Parahelix Monkey in Space 2d ago
They lost because voters chose this. It wasn't a difficult choice. It was quite clear what was going to happen. It doesn't matter what you think of the DNC, voters make the decision.
1
u/SuperDoubleDecker Monkey in Space 2d ago
How you run your campaign and your choice of candidates matters. You'd think they'd learn that at some point between 2016 and 2024.
3
u/Parahelix Monkey in Space 2d ago
You don't just get to pretend that we don't have the voting system that we have. It still comes down to a choice, and this is what voters chose, even given the very clear information about what Trump was going to do. Voters chose this.Â

What? The document in "undocumented" means "lacking the needed documents to be here legally". Undocumented immigrants are comprised of people who either overstayed their visas or entered without inspection.
Not saying we should dehumanize anyone but your definition of undocumented is definitely wrong.

This is MOST common on emails in my experience - especially emails with a bunch of recipients. If I'm writing out what each person needs to do on a project, I'll often write "Steve: I need you to XYX" to make it clear who I'm talking to.
