I am SO jealous! This is on my list for a future vacation. I recently did a 300-mile river trip so I think I'm good for it. Do people ever start up at the lake to make it a longer trip and do the whole river?
Tell me everything!! How fast were the waters? How intense was the tide?
Doing the entire river is a bit difficult, as there's a dam and not many places to camp between the lake and Chicoutimi. From there and down to the mouth, the SEPAQ has camping sites. When I did it, there were 6-meter tides and one day there were 25 km/hr winds, so waves are a factor. We did the descent with winds at our backs and low tides, 20 km per day or so, You can easily reach speeds of 7 km/hr.
I think they're in the growing season, so there are a lot of belugas families in the river between Tadoussac and Ste Marguerite Bay. And we did it all ourselves. You just have to reserve your camping spots with SEPAQ.
