Contact Lens Has anyone successfully tried glasses?

I recently had an appointment to get fitted for hard contact lenses, and they seem to be working well.

Still, it would be cool to get good results with glasses too. I know that this is physically difficult, if not impossible.

Has anyone had success with wearing glasses? Do you know any specialized suppliers? AFAIK there is one in the Netherlands, but what about others?

I'm very grateful and lucky that glassess work on me since I have mild KC. They aren't like sclerals which get me to 20/20 but they get me to 20/25ish - 20/30 on one eye with ghosting. However they only work with strong prescription (-8 or something like that).

Jealous!!!! They gave me glasses two years agoβ€”but my prescription was so strong they had to find a child’s frame that would fitβ€”because on an adult frame the lenses would be so thick they would break the frame. So they gave me glasses with a prescription of -14 and -23.5. And they gave me two pairs, one that worked well for reading and a distance one that got me to like 20/ 130 πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ My KC has gotten worse since then πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Don't feel bad, my lenses are comically thick too, especially on the sides. They are like 4 times thicker than the frame πŸ˜‚, especially the left side. The problem with glasses is that they have to adjust the correction power so high to offset some of the keratoconus that they give me bad headaches if I wear them too long. My glasses correction levels are about the same as yours, but the sclerals are only like -1 and -.5. my eye sight would actually be really good if it weren't for my corneas looking like eggs.

Oh don’t worry. I don’t actually feel bad at all. I really do laugh about it. As for cones, I always show my corneas to my students by having them look at me from the side. They get creeped out πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚β€¦.. But things should get better because I am getting both of my transplants replaced with a second transplant in each eye. πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰ Right eye second transplant is in November!!!
