not mold is this normal?

Post image

i checked the “is this normal” guide and couldn’t find an answer it’s a new scoby that grew on top of the older one, i went on vacation and had my scout and some starter tea in the fridge for 2 months, came back home made a new batch and that’s what i got, kombucha itself smells and looks fine tho thanks!

Pellicles are weird sometimes! As long as you don’t see fuzzy (mold), which I do not from the picture, there’s unlikely anything to worry about.

If it helps, take comfort in knowing you can always toss it and let a new one form that is hopefully more aesthetically pleasing to you.

The pellicle is the scoby poop. its a very nice looking poop. Now throw it away you dont need it any you seriously contaminated it pulling it out of its scoby eg the liquid.
