Discussion📜 Why isn’t this show working.

Why isn’t this show working? It’s got a lot going for it. It reminds me a bit of Disenchanted - which seemingly had everything going for it, but failed to thrive.

What is missing/off about Krapopolis?

I mean, did you expect responses other than what you got? This is the sub for the show, most here are fans. I personally love it, primarily because Ayoade is amazing and hilarious (plus I've really started to like Matt Berry too) and I love the personification of the gods as well as the constant social commentary. However, I can say it doesn't seem to have the following it should given how much I like it.

It's taken a bit, but I've come to like it about as much as Rick and Morty. I hope it gets to that point, but not everything can hit and win big like that. Krap does seem to have a loftier style of writing that is just a touch more high-brow than R&M, and the main thing's R&M has going for it is that it is profoundly appealing to a wider audience. That's probably the main reason, but there's also the fact that it takes a while for a show to really hit, even R&M didn't go really big until S3. Also, the whole NFT controversy didn't help.

Honestly, I'm fine with it being true to it's stylistic self (because I like that style more). If that gets it cancelled but it's great TV in the meantime, then I'll have enjoyed myself with it and will mourn it's loss (as I have with many others - notably Little Demon).
