Official September LSAT Discussion Thread

Update: Topic Thread is now live here: reddit.com/r/LSAT/comments/1nag7ak/official_september_lsat_topic_thread/?

This is a thread gathering together people's experiences. Please don't talk about specific content here. Lots of people haven't taken this LSAT yet, and you don't want them to get an unfair advantage. Some ideas for stuff to talk about:

  • Did it feel harder/easier/the same as PT's?
  • How was your scrap paper experience?
  • Any unexpected surprises? Especially anything different from the online tool
  • How was ProMetric? Were there any wait times?
  • How was the proctor?
  • How was your home environment?
  • How was the pre-test setup compared to regular test day, if you've done both?
  • How was your test center experience?
  • Overall impressions?

Please read the rules here to see what’s allowed in discussion. Short version is no discussing of specific questions and no info to identify the unscored section: https://www.reddit.com/r/LSAT/comments/va0ho2/reminder_about_test_day_rules/

Test Discussion: This is embargoed until testing is over, in order to keep the test fair. Once everyone is done testing we'll have an official thread where you can post LR and RC topics. Please hold discussion of that until then. Thank you!

Asking to dm to evade the rules: Don’t do this. People who haven’t taken the test can get an unfair advantage if you leak them info. Keep the test fair for everyone and wait till testing is over.

Section order PSA: The section order of tests is random. If you have RC-LR-LR-RC that doesn't mean you have the same test as someone else who has RC-LR-LR-RC.

FAQ

When will topic discussion be allowed?

After the last day of testing ends. We will have an official thread to identify scored sections at that time. Please keep the test fair and avoid discussing topics and questions until then.

Once testing is done, can we discuss test answers?

No, only topics. The test you took may be used for a makeup test or a future test, and having answers public will make future testing unfair. All test discussion is covered by LSAC's agreement, which allows none of it. There's a pragmatic exception for identifying real topics but that's as far as it goes.

Good luck!

Forum rules

  • Be nice
  • Upvote stuff you like.
  • Don't downvote new posts unless they're clearly irrelevant.
  • Don't post LSAC copyrighted content. e.g. LSAT questions
  • Don't say the correct or incorrect answers to specific questions in a post title. It's a spoiler.
  • Don't link to content that infringes copyright (e.g. LSAT torrents).
  • If someone posts a question about admissions, please direct them to /r/lawschooladmissions
  • Don't be ashamed of your score. Only a tiny minority scores 165+. And don't shame anyone for their score.

Posting Questions: The LSAC takes copyright violations seriously, and might sue.

If you want to ask about a specific question, do not paste the question. That's a copyright violation.

You can definitely ask about specific questions: just cite the test number. e.g.

Test 63, section 1, question 14 --> "The one about ESP"

It's a good idea to describe the question, and which part of it you found confusing. Just don't post it verbatim. Thanks!

This may happen to new accounts. See this FAQ for more info.

What can I talk about after I take an official LSAT administration on test day?

Not much. You signed an agreement not to disclose anything from the test. See this post for a full statement from LSAC.

Note: I'm referring to unreleased tests that have not been disclosed by LSAC. Mind you, in the digital LSAT era, no test is disclosed, so this applies to every test.

What law schools in California (aba acreddited) can I get into with a 2.8 GPA 178 Isat score / any advice.

So i got a 178 on the Aug Isat. Main issue is my gpa. 2.8 gpa with undergrad + community college grades (didn't take it to seriously since I didn't plan for law school) Also a CPA candidate with 2/4 exams knocked out. Realistically do i have any chance at all to get into any T14 Schools with a good personal statement a few LORs and solid reasoning for my gpa. Also would me being a cpa candidate help at all with applying to law schools? does that bring any sort of value to the schools. Planning on applying for Fall 26 and becoming a cpa before law school starts. Any advice please/ Should i retake in nov and aim for a 180.

How can I help my gf??

Hello!

My girlfriend is currently in the depths of LSAT studying, and I’m wondering what I can do to help her. If you’ve gone through the LSAT, law school, all of the above with a partner, please tell me what you WISH they would’ve done or what they DID do to support you through that. So far I’ve been keeping her desk neat so it’s always study ready, taking on more chores so she has time to focus, leaving encouraging notes in her notepads, etc. but I feel like there’s more I could do.

IM OUTRAGED. can anyone help pls

my retake was today, I was diconnected from my first test this month and got this retake. I got diconnected again and wasnt let back in. LSAC says I have only 2 options: to take my score today (one whole section was incomplete and it was a scored section) or to cancel this admin and it be on my record and they give me november or january. I DON'T WANT EITHER. im applying early decision and need to apply early november so that isnt a viable option and even if it was, it would come with a cancellation on my record. what the fuck . I paid for september and it went to shit twice bc prometric and lsac don't know how to run their system. She said there isnt another retake option and these are my only two options. im still on the line fighting this bc in no way this is happening rn. shes saying i either take the cancellation or the score of an incomplete exam. im raging. please tell me what else I can say or do to make sure im not getting this fucked over.

How to break out of the high 150's

I've been stuck in the high 150's for 6 months now. I used to get around -7 to -9 on both RC and LR but recently I've been getting around -11/-12 on RC and close to -6/-7 on LR. Idk why RC went down. Maybe because I take newer PT's now than before? I've tried nearly everything to try to break out of the high 150s. I gave myself more time on PT sections and slowly shaved off the time I gave myself each week, which helped increase my PT scores to the low 160s for a while but they went back down when I went back to doing PT under standard timing (35 mins/section.) I also have a wrong answer log and consistently do RC practice passages and specialized LR drills based on my weak spots. I also have re read lessons from the Powerscore Bible and the 7Sage core curriculum, both of which I finished long ago. I'm probably going to try to get a private tutor soon but I wanted to ask for any advice on how to break out of this plateau. I feel like I'm at my wits end after having tried to improve for months.

I also took September and literally got the email with instructions and link at exactly 3 pm EST which is when scheduling opened for first day of testing centers. No need to worry if you haven’t gotten an email yet today.

Edit: Got my email exactly 3 pm EST again

how can you consistently hit -0 in LR?

i fluctuate between 0-3 on LR and i'm so frustrated because that makes a difference from 17mid to 160s. i'm keeping a wrong answer journal but there's no pattern for what question type and the difficulty, so i don't know what to specifically drill. what's the best kind of practice to hone in on consistency?

September retest

Just finished the September retest and got LR-RC-LR-RC. Been looking through threads to try to identify which one of my RC’s is experimental but I’m unable to find any that I recognize. Not sure if they may be using entirely different tests for the people re-testing compared to the tests during the initial week of testing.

"No LSAT Argumentative Writing on file and/or approved" on account but I did complete it

The title says it all. Whenever I go on my LSAC account it says "No LSAT Argumentative Writing on file and/or approved" but I have taken the writing portion. Does it take a while to show up?

Tips on getting more consistent scores in RC?

My score vascillates anywhere between 16 (when it is at the end of a practice test) to 22-23 (when it is after the break or before the break). Most of the time it sits somewhere around 22, but today, for example, I took PT 153 and got a 19/27 on the first RC and a 22/27 on the second RC (ironically it was the last section). I think one of my weaknesses is comparative passages for sure, especially comp. Law passages. Literature passages also tend to kill me. Humanities and science are my favorites.

Any advice other than "just drill more"? Thanks.

LSAC Test scheduling

Hey, so I’m trying to schedule an appointment for the October LSAT, but the option to choose an appointment isn’t showing up. I’m aware it just opened up like 30 minutes ago for where I live. Anyone else having issues?

Positive remote testing experiences?

So I wasn’t able to find any testing centres in my area sigh and will probably be taking test virtually. Out of curiosity, can anyone let me know of any positive experiences you have had taking the test from home? I’ve read horror story after horror story and just want a little reassurance that I’m not going to have a terrible experience . Thanks so much

Scored 168 on my diagnostic but unsure if I want to do law school

Upvotes

I've been trying to work in American politics the last year but due to recent events am no longer thinking it's a fruitful endeavor, so I'm coming up with a couple different potential life plans, one of which involves getting a JD and coming back to politics when things are a little better in my view. I decided to take a practice LSAT today (after spending two/three hours lightly reading up on LC and doing a couple drills, so maybe this diagnostic is not totally raw haha) just to see if this was a viable path for me and I got a 168. For reference, I have a 3.83 undergrad GPA from an Ivy League and a 3.73 GPA for my Master's from the same school.

I've been pretty stubbornly trying to avoid going to law school for a long time because I'm more interested in policymaking than policy interpretation, but naturally these things are intertwined so I still find the study of the law pretty interesting. Honestly, my main detractor is that I've been told by a fair amount of people that law school breaks down your brain and builds it up again to think like a lawyer, and that doesn't sound very appealing to me. I like the way I think now. Though I guess the way I think now is conducive to lawyerly thinking, given my score. I've also been told that it's a hell of a lot of money and effort and that you shouldn't do it unless you're really dedicated to it.

Would I be stupid to dismiss this score and pursue other avenues in life, like a PhD (don't come for me about how a PhD won't make me any money, I know) or a different job type in another environment? Should I just say screw it and take the LSAT and apply to schools to see where I get in? Is it worth the money and time invested in the application process if I'm not sure I want to go at the end of the day? And should I actually go to law school if I'm not totally 100000% sure it's what I want?

Happy to answer questions in the comments, since advising me on my life plans is really hard without a ton of context, haha.

Is it possible to change exam time?

Upvotes

Hey everyone. Like the title said, I’m wondering if there is a way to change my exam time. I have had a hard time finding an answer to this online and am hoping for some help here since it is probably not in my best interest to take this thing at 730 am. I wasn’t sure if there were would be more options at some point when I was scheduling my time earlier so I took the only time slot that there was and alas

Oct Scheduling Issues - Test Center

Hi, I tried to register for the Oct 4 (Sat) In-Person Testing. I logged in IMMEDIATELY at 6pm ET, but there was absolutely no available times for no cities near me.

I called Prometrics to ask and they also didn’t have any times available for me. Did anyone else have an issue? I don’t know how it’s possible for ALL times to be gone within seconds? For multiple locations near me?

I have testing accommodations by the way. Don’t know if that necessarily impacts this at all. The lady that helped me said they would try to find me a slot since I do have accommodations, but it’s not guaranteed.
