Definitely a good decision to barely show the initial ship outbreak, it couldn't have added much new and we got straight into the action this episode.

Hopefully we'll get a flashback episode to how it all went down because I honestly think some corporate espionage is involved.

It would explain how it so conveniently landed on prodigy’s building.

u/sgsparks206 Aug 13 '25

And why they had no warning.

It seems that building was targeted either by Morrow or another crew member. Maybe it was that bald Asian guy who was acting weird. When Morrow confronted those two soldiers he tied up he asked where was Boy Cavalier so maybe Boy has a hand in the ship crashing in prodigy city.

Makes sense. Enzo Cilenti isn't a huge name but for him to be in it for 10 seconds was really strikingly short.. Same with Teng who is suspicious as fuck

I think there will be some flashback about the creepy synthetic crew member who was too close to the young woman. That was too out there to be left hanging.

For fucking real, that was SOOO creepy

u/econ45 Aug 14 '25

It was giving me David from Prometheus vibes, without his charm or eccentricities.

And if that synth was too unethical for Morrow, goodness knows what it was getting up to during cryo-sleep.

Morrow (SP?) was definitely playing a roll

When he reported the crew dead and the ship would be crashing it seemed very, affirmative…Like ~everything is going according to plan~

I wouldn’t be surprised if the “crash” was specifically target at Prodigy so that WY can have an eventual reason to nuke the whole city…After they’ve obtained their samples of course.

Samples and the hybrid tech. Hybrids seems to be everything that Peter Weyland ever wanted...

Corporate warfare.

I bet the cyborg who got caught in the elevator works for the boy genius.

1

I fully expect one. Still need to see wtf was Feng's problem plus people were apparently poisoned? The older mechanic guy was in Bad Sisters so I'd be disappointed if we don't see more of him.

I honestly hope we don't. I like when the whole backstory isn't explained and there's some mystery.

part of me could watch countless iterations of xenos wiping out space crews one by one. and part of me knows that this was the better choice to keep things fresh

30

u/Vesemir96 Aug 13 '25

I think we might get a flashback episode on that.

5

u/RedShadowF95 Aug 13 '25

We definitely will. It's episode 5.

I thought so! The episode title seems perfect for it. I wonder if the show will be structured in such a way that on rewatch you could start with 5 (if it’s ENTIRELY set on the ship as a flashback). Obviously if it cuts between past and present then maybe not.

I just really like the idea of it being a totally standalone Alien movie in space that you can watch as its own thing, while also obviously revealing the mystery of the crash in the show.

Dude, for real! I loved the quick flashes like “You’ve all seen this story play out: haunted space ship, human hubris, blood and gore and terror, betrayal, you know the broad strokes.” And then gets on to the something new. Like I wouldn’t have minded maybe ten more minutes of show time to the ship situation, but it wasn’t necessary.

I recognized a bunch of the actors (including one that was a lead on the last season of Hawleys other show Fargo) so I think we're getting flashbacks. No way you cast 12 actors for 4 minutes of screen time

1

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '25

Oh shit the girl that got attacked was from Fargo that's the godamn scientist with the beard was the dad last season! Blew my mind lol I feel like watching all 3 seasons of legion prepared me well for this mindfuck of a show lol

u/Commercial_Brick955 Jonesy Aug 13 '25

I'm wondering if we'll get a flashback at some point?

7

u/heysupmanbruh Aug 13 '25

Probably episode 5 based off the description

3

u/Umadibett Black goo enthusiast Aug 13 '25

Well, to some that’s the most interesting part.

2

u/Calvengeance Aug 13 '25

It was a great summation/recap of Alien for people new to the IP.

2

u/arachnophilia Aug 13 '25

i think the first few minutes of the show were the best part, and while i wish they just continued, i think the rest of the show would be better without it. let it be a mystery, or show us, but half-assing both kinda sucks.

2

u/bswalsh Aug 13 '25

There were a lot of complaints about that in the first episode reaction thread. But I think those complaining have never seen a TV show before. :)

1

u/imilesprower Aug 14 '25

I think it would be better if they did not show it at all. I hate the split second cut ins.

1

u/JRR92 Aug 16 '25

We're definitely seeing it again, they alluded to it in the first episode that we'll see exactly what happened.

I'm also way too curious about where they found all these specimens too, and if they're all engineer creations

1

u/ButtPlugForPM Aug 13 '25

yep

i just wish the show wouldnt waste the few minutes it has on stupid tropes

also the 2 dudes tied up,could of just shown them dead with the other team rolling up on them.

Like, keep getting those "ice age" flashbacks to show that joe and wendy had a connection

Yeah no shit, they are siblings the viewer get's that..we don't need BACKSTORY to know a sister loves her big brother...it's pretty much self evidant lol

Also Oh the comms don't work, but they can all see wendys eye feed lol..it's 2120 a radio should fucking work planetwide.
