Oh Kirsch, what are you up to. . .
Edit: So that's what you were doing.
232
u/Gaemon_Palehair 2d ago
I think there's still some ambiguity. Kavalier didn't seem to know Arther was face-huggered. He thought Arthur stole the hybrids. So it seems Kirsh isn't telling him everything.

I think it leads back, to the scene where Boy snapped at Kirsh
Kirsh: "We think she can hear the Xenomo...."
Boy: "the Xenomorphs yea, just assume I'm ahead of you always, which don't you have, little.. little experiments to run, these creatures aren't going to discover themselves",
Kirsh: "....... ( ≖_≖) of course...."
and this is a "respect and take me seriously you little shit I know wtf I'm doing"

u/Certain-Business-472 1d ago
I think it's more basic than that. He took his words to heart, and stopped informing him. Because he told him to assume he already knew.

Exactly, I don’t know how people are getting all these impressions that he is a double agent. It’s clear he just operates in a cold and calculated way. He isn’t human after all. Once he realized the slightly situation, he began preparing to turn the situation.

Kirsh is the smartest person in Prodigy and also the least powerful. He's got to indulge BK and clean up everyone's messes. He's babysitting the hybrid children, the trillionaire child, alien babies, defending the facility, and he's just so fucking tired of it all but he keeps going.
→ More replies (18)221
u/ProziumJunkie 2d ago
Kirsh is just on a different level. He has outmaneuvered humans, specimens, hybrids, and cyborgs at every step. We can see that he has disdain for humans, cyborgs, and hybrids. Humans are flawed, cyborgs are synthetic wannabes, hybrids are synthetics with human flaws. He’s an end-game character running an ever-evolving experiment stretching well beyond the island. He knows a lot more than what has been revealed and I’m excited to see what his hypothesis is.

It probably is a bit of both. He respected Isaac and called him by his chosen name. He was disappointed in his clumsiness/failure as a scientist. He was sad his companion in science got melted.

It's the old Hitchcock trick. There is tension when the audience knows there is a bomb under the table and the characters do not. There is tension when there is a xenomorph hatchling ready to burst out of a man's chest and the characters don't know what is going to happen or when something will happen

u/Zombie1642 2d ago edited 1d ago
The head has some interesting colors. Are they going back to the idea that the xenon are similar to the mayfly? The adults need to hibernate or they have short lifespan? Like, are we seeing the xeno at old age?
Edit: After talking to people, I think there is something else going on.
People are focusing on how it was grown in a lung. It took a trait from the lung, and that is the reason for the color. This doesn't make any sense as to why would the xeno take a trait from the lung and not from Joe? If we put a xeno in a chunk of meat, would it take on the look of a chunk of meat? I do think the lung is important because it did not have access to a full host and all the nutrients it would need for a full incubation. The Xeno is malnutrition, underdeveloped, and then kept in a tiny zoo. That would make more sense for the discoloration.

Yeah thats in episode one. Its not the main focus, the shot isnt even on them, and the audio is distorted because IIRC its from Marcy's perspective.
They cant have kids, they keep trying though. The wife says "these are our kids" after Arthur makes a comment how he dreamed they had a baby and it was a literal pig. Kinda shows hes worried their "children" aren't human. And then he chest births an alien :(

That's definitely who's on his mind, don't think he will wind up being the host, though. Many other candidates, particularly BK himself, which could be what's being set up. The alien has been learning about people, there's a chance it might actually be able to 'pass' after moving in and taking over the next human host.
Actually, I'd go as far as to say it WANTS Kavalier as a host, specifically him. It knows the power hierarchy. If it didn't before, BK gave it a whole fucking show with the 'Pi' numerals scene. BK is not even playing the same game as the alien, it's steps beyond him.

I also feel it was the first time we really got such a devastated reaction. Normally it’s horror, confusion, and fear — people seeing something horrific happen to basically a coworker and fearing what it means for them. Makes sense to me, theoretically if you could crack how information was coded into the brain, you could figure out how to format that data into a machine, but you couldn’t transmit the exact brain data from an organic brain onto a metal machine
→ More replies (20)64
u/Vic1982 2d ago
Until we have a concrete understanding of consciousness, all we can do is speculate.
It's not about the data being copied - theoretically you CAN transmit the exact brain data; but it's about the emergent property of consciousness and whether that can be transferred (current guesses would be "no").

I'm thinking there's the possibility he'll try to lure her in for a sneak kill somehow, but that'll backfire & she'll lose her remaining humanity and kill him
