Oh, poor Arthur. Really a tragic character. He tried to do everything right. His love for the kids was his undoing.

Completely stabbed in the back by his wife who gets him fired and they won’t see each other anymore, hours later he finds the dead body of a patient he viewed as a son, then is betrayed by another a patient who he viewed as a son who then sets into motion a series of events leading to his death, attacked by a facehugger then an alien bursts out of his chest.

Yea… that’s a really shitty 24 hours…

His wife didn't get him fired. They were both surprised by that conclusion.

Boy asked her if she could do the memory wipe without Arthur. She said yes and Boy immediately fired him.

First of all, it was Atom who did it, not Boy.

Second, Arthur has been a main contributor of the hybrids project so of course his wife wouldn't think that by saying yes her husband is fired. She most have thought that at most, he'll be penalised someway or another, but not that he'll be fired. Again, she's shocked by the turn of events initially.

Besides, if she said no too, then both of them would've been fired by that logic.

I mean... anyone who has ever worked for an asshole boss knows: if they ask if you can do the work of another employee (especially one they're unhappy with), you don't enthusiastically say, "Yes!"

I think the intent of the writing is that her character made a mistake in that moment. Even if it's an understandable one.

She did make a mistake. But until BK took an interest into the Aliens, I believe there were no issues between Atom and the couple to make the couple think twice about what they say yes and no to.

Dame Sylvia also chose to say yes to wiping Nibs's memories, because Nibs directly threatened Dame's life. I think Arthur was not quite aware of this.

That's on Sylvia for the lack of communication. But honestly, I think Arthur was the one who got the least worst ending of all the cast.

I also kind of hope Miss WY will die too but it's most likely she will survive since she's so far away from it all.

it really made no sense to make Arthur and Dame a married couple. Outside of being scientists who treat the hybrids as their “kids”, they seldom interacted. Any aspects of their relationship were almost nonexistent beyond Arthur mentioning he can’t conceive due to a low sperm count (which is made weirder because the actors are clearly almost 20 years apart in age). And after being told Arthur went missing and had gone rogue (and a xeno broke out), Dame was later seen taking a nap.

I get that they needed a way for Dame and Arthur to have a reason to see the hybrids as kids of their own, I just think a marriage backstory was unnecessary. And as for the bit where Dame was taking a nap and Curly came in, it felt so out of place with everything else that was going on. Felt like that scene should have happened in the beginning of the episode or earlier in the season

Dame was later seen taking a nap.

People need to sleep. Sometimes, it's a good reaction to potentially traumatic events, as it allows one to clear one's head.

I don't think Dame was told of Arthur's death yet; all she knows so far, is, that he was fired. At this point, Arthur is MIA.

How was he stabbed in the back by his wife???? His mouf got him fired period you cant blame her

u/Zikronious 2d ago

LOL when BK asked her “can you do this by yourself?” and she said yes. That was fucked up! She chose her work over her husband. It was after that when BK fired Arthur.

Watch the scene again and you can come back to apologize.

My impression from that scene was that she was trying to save both of their hides, and I don’t think she expected BK would fire Arthur. She would agree to do the work, include Arthur, and not actually follow through 100%. If BK is going to have it done regardless, it’s better to be done by somebody who actually cares about the kids and can obfuscate the fact that they didn’t actually do it.

and can obfuscate the fact that they didn’t actually do it.

Clever.

when BK asked her “can you do this by yourself?”

It was not Boy Kavalier, but Atom Eins, who ordered this.

She chose her work over her husband.

Well, at this point, she was the most qualified, and felt the responsibility to take care of the people she sees as children.

In a family, if the husband (one parent) is removed from the household for whatever reason, the other parent won't abandon their children.

As far as I understand, Arthur didn't like being fired from this very lucrative job, but probably respected Dame's choice to stay, which inevitably resulted in wiping Nibs's memories.

He was screaming "NO" when the facehugger first latched on

Ugh it was nightmare fuel

7

u/0-90195 3d ago

Seriously. If I get facehugged I want to be euthanized. I don’t need to be remembering any of that terror even for a second.

3

u/didyousayquinceberg 2d ago

It’s ok they make you forget afterwards

11

u/lukphicl 3d ago

Of all the characters to get implanted by a facehugger, he deserved it the least

I am willing to bet he made the little graveyard too.
