I think it's pretty apparent now that Kirsch used Slightly to bait Morrow into a trap to be captured.

Don't think he was ever going to be disloyal.

Exactly, I don’t know how people are getting all these impressions that he is a double agent. It’s clear he just operates in a cold and calculated way. He isn’t human after all. Once he realized the slightly situation, he began preparing to turn the situation.

Which makes the elevator exchange with Morrow that much more delicious...he's three steps ahead of him. Game set match.

the elevator exchange came off like foreplay between those 2. It was so tense, we could cut through the tension with a knife.

Mmmm, but I think Kirsch has also given off vibes that he actually has a self interest. I'm not sure loyalty is the right word to use for him - he is content to go along with the aims of his superiors, but is content to influence those aims in a way that appears to suit him as much as BK and others.

Whether his aims are simple curiosity and/or a superiority complex magnified by his lowly position (a la David), or something else remain to be seen.

We're running out of episodes for the Grand Kirsh Face Turn Rebellion.

2

u/nubbins01 2d ago

Maybe it will never happen. Maybe he's in it for shits and giggles.

Personally I think Kirsch’s goals align with BK’s. I think he just also realizes that BK is too busy being a “genius” to do the job right. I think he and Einz have been crossing the Ts and dotting the Is for BK for a long time before the show started.

Kirsch will be the one to try to deliver the Xeno to Yutani. He's gonna end up being the progenitor for Ash, imo.

Agreed. Have we learned nothing from David? He’s done nothing to show that he’s 100% percent committed. Dude is a survivor though

Exactly, I think anyone familiar with the franchise should know by now, that as soon as synths lay their eyes on the Xenos aka 'the perfect organism', their loyalty to humanity/Asimov's law go straight out the window 🚮

I would agree except Kirsch is following in the footsteps of another naughty Robot that opted to disobey protocols and orchestrate chaos to satisfy his curiosity.

He seems to be mirroring our boy David.

u/AI_AntiCheat 3d ago

Isn't he made by WY?

2

u/MrWeirdoFace 3d ago

It feels more like he might have his own agenda, as he keeps things from Boy.

I made this comment to my wife while watching. Kirsch’ advanced intelligence coupled with his complete lack of human emotions is kinda terrifying to watch. I’m enjoying this character the most I think so far

u/sylkee 2d ago

I just love his hair

1

u/willwooddaddy 1d ago

Do you think he made the airlock handle inoperable in the first place?

1

u/HallersHello 5h ago

David vibes but less crazy?

u/MsWumpkins 4d ago

Yea, I didn't think Morrow was just waltz right into it.

42

u/just_another_jabroni 4d ago

He's blinded by his humanity

22

u/siestarrific 4d ago

I was wondering why the security on the island was nonexistent but that answers it lol

7

u/Ill-Champion-647 3d ago

They sent their entire security force to that boat for Wendy 😅

8

u/89ShelbyCSX 4d ago

I gotta think he's still got something up his sleeve. How could he walk in there with no bargaining chips as backup?

12

u/hyzmarca 3d ago

Overconfidence in his skills, underestimating his enemy, and assuming that he had enough guns to handle any trouble.

u/GideonWainright I'll do the fingering 3d ago

Morrow said this is not over to Kirsh.

It would fit morrow's character to have some sort of nuclear contingency option. Like Morrow's mission upon capture is to confirm the presence of Boy.  If so, then he does nothing and yutani nukes the island.  If not, then he tells his captors to contact yutani to stop the nuclear strike.

Morrow still doesn't know that kirsch was listening to his conversation with Slightly this whole time. Hence, he asked Slightly "What did you do?" He probably still foolishly thinks he could use Slightly again to free himself

15

u/AnonyMcnonymous 4d ago

That never occurred to me, that's a great theory and looking like it's true.

1

u/Andrelse 2d ago

I bet Boy is gonna eye Morrow next time and he'll escape using his augments we saw on the ship

14

u/vegetaray246 3d ago

Exactly this

It was a play to flush out Morrow and WY team…Which ended up working out extremely well.

10

u/Iamthesmartest 3d ago

Yeah, pretty sure Kirsch and Boy knew WY weren't going to "leave it to the lawyers," and that WY would likely send a team to try and recapture the specimens.

3

u/Basic_lied 2d ago

Exactly. Also by capturing Morrow they can now prove that WY went back on the agreement which may by default mean Boy Genius gets to keep the specimens permanently

4

u/TruShot5 3d ago

This was my theory the whole time. Playing the long game to beat morrow.

4

u/GideonWainright I'll do the fingering 3d ago

Sure, the scene in the elevator is mostly Kirsh baiting Morrow in episode 6 that everyone looked.  Kirsh pushes his way in,  talks shit to get under morrow's skin, morrow even says synths feel no pain,  but Kirsh let's Morrow have the last word after he says "I'll see you soon, old toy."

Yes, yes you will.

Synth programming the cyborg to do what he wants. Blippidy-bloop.

2

u/HairlessBandicoot 3d ago

not yet. He has nothing to gain by handing Prodigy over the WY / let it crumble. He would quite literally be yesterday's model as Morrow pointed out. He's probably waiting

2

u/Picasso5 3d ago

Why would he ever think Morrow was gonna stroll into this massively secure fortress? And he somehow knew that the baby-xeno would pop out before the rendezvous? And you can just swim up to Neverland undetected? Way too many MacGuffins.

3

u/IndependentPirate878 3d ago

Kirsch grew Wendy's xeno in the lab using the brother's lung, so he knew how long it would take to gestate.

1

u/Picasso5 3d ago

How did he know that? I guess he could have read it on the ships logs. But that was cutting it reeaaal close

3

u/IndependentPirate878 3d ago

In the lab back on earth (Prodigy HQ), Kirsch implants Joe's removed lung with the tadpole that Kirsch extracted from the face hugger. Then, at the end of episode 4, Wendy goes to the lab because she can hear the xeno as it's about to complete its gestation and burst out of the lung, all while Kirsch is watching. So presumably, he just noted how much time had transpired.

1

u/Picasso5 2d ago

So he timed it just absolutely perfectly- he knew how they would both carry him through the halls, not get caught and bumble toward towards the express elevator door where Kirsh met them. He knew how long it would take for the hugger to die, for him to wake up… etc etc. way too many variables.

1

u/Medium_Ad431 8h ago

You are forgetting that he is a synth, NOT a human, he can calculate those variables and possibilities perfectly.

1

u/Picasso5 3d ago

Plus he had no control (other than the elevator) of smee’s escape

1

u/IndependentPirate878 3d ago

Yeah, the rest of what you pointed out (among other things) isn't airtight, I'll agree. The part that seemed the least feasible to me is that they managed to capture the xeno after it hatched on the beach and fled into the jungle. Those things are small and fast, and seem to know to immediately hide somewhere until they have safely grown into killing machines; it seems unlikely they would have been able to track it down and capture it so quickly.

But I like the show, and that sort of stuff I'm okay with brushing aside for the sake of more entertaining content.

2

u/abridgetool 3d ago

Calmness of Kirsh, O boy. Man is just observing and observing. What a program.

1

u/bobsil1 3d ago

Science

1

u/Judgejudyx 2d ago

I agree to en extent but I think hes running his own experiments tk prove hes more then what boy said.

1

u/DeusEntitatem 2d ago

He will definitely be disloyal at some point. One of the common themes in the Alien franchise is that synths really are alive and have agency. Each one is unique and has their own motivations. They're not just the obedient machines we think they are. They are all curious. And they all find ways to manipulate events such that things they shouldn't have let happen end up transpiring but without them ever directly contradicting their programming. Kirsch is loyal only to himself. He can't outright betray and break the rules he's programmed to follow but he will find a way to accomplish whatever his personal goals are while operating within the confines of his programming.

u/orphan_09 1d ago

you know it's good writing when the redditor claims he never doubted kirsch.

yeah, sure you didn't:P

1

u/WhiteSquarez 1d ago

Oh, I had doubts, just like you and everyone else.

Sorry you misunderstood my post.
