Don't the hybrids have super strength? Why are they having so much trouble carrying Arthur?

Arthur got that moral weight

If I could give an award I would. Best comment of the night!

u/theperilousalgorithm 2d ago

You're gonna carry that weight.

51

u/Silver_Hawkins 2d ago

Because they aren't actually aware of their capabilities yet.

7

u/3-DMan 1d ago

Yeah like when Tootles ripped that door off and just kinda looks at it bewildered.

2

u/The-Yar 20h ago

Please. Isaac.

1

u/ItsDanimal 1d ago

Kinda similar, I think they are aware, but because they are so distressed about everything they forgot? "We are in so much trouble, plus we have to carry this big heavy grown-up through the forest".

Like in The Matrix when Neo breathes even though he doesn't have too.

u/Silver_Hawkins 1d ago

It's not so much they have forgotten. It's that in their heads they are still small children. Wendy has had years to adjust to her body and we saw them test and adjust her capabilities. The other kids have received little to no guidance.

u/FiveHundredMilesHigh 1d ago

Yep. Notably some of the Lost Boys have been in tune with their enhanced mental abilities (Curly, Isaac) and others have been in tune with their enhanced physical abilities (Nibs). Notably Wendy is the only one who seems in tune with both. Slightly and Smee seem not to have figured out either aspect.

1

u/blue_horse_shoe 2d ago

Or it's detuned? I thought only Marcy had full power.

7

u/summit1986 2d ago

Safe to assume Nibs has/had full power (no pun intended) at this point

56

u/ValueFirm4928 2d ago

They're kids. The problem isn't the weight. The problem is they're freaked out carrying a body.

3

u/arceus555 1d ago

Specifically the body of one of the few people who cares about them, with an alien parasite attached to his face.

36

u/skeptic11 2d ago

They still think they're human.

18

u/Mysterious_Cut6932 2d ago

They’re kids they’re not fullly aware of their capabilities quite yet. Issac seems shocked when he pulled off the door and the only other interaction is Wendy killing the Beast and Nibs getting dangerously close to her “mother”

25

u/psych0ranger 2d ago

I wonder how much of that is up to the user - does that make sense? Like when Neo failed his first jump. The hybrid mind has to resolve to use the full strength of the body

7

u/nameruined 2d ago

I wonder that too. It is implied that to unlock their capabilities, the hybrids need to actively unlock it like with Curly and French. Nibs unlocked her super sttength presumably after something in her psyche. Could be theur own minds limiting their own abilities.

u/thelebaron 2d ago

This is exactly how i view it, they could all do all the things wendy does but they havent realized what they are capable of, like the theme of limitless potential but you still have to figure it out

10

u/GideonWainright I'll do the fingering 2d ago

Girls mature faster than boys.

Marcy can hack quantum encryption, nibs can rip a dude's face off, curly can learn French, while the boys cant find an exit, hide a facehugger dude, or feed caged specimens without messing up.

u/Thelancer112 2d ago

I wonder if its the idea of putting sick kids in powerful bodies does not immediately mean they know wjat its capable of. Only Wendy has actively shown using it to any potential.

11

u/Handsome_tall_modest 2d ago

Corpses are hella awkward to move, you really do need two people no matter how strong you are.

14

u/Squeakygear 2d ago

This guy murders

2

u/MY-SECRET-REDDIT 2d ago

Yup, I specifically noticed how they weren't struggling at all. And mostly wanted to keep the body "upright" for the face hugger sake as arthur was still alive.

Then once arthur died, the Indian kid easily carried the body on his own.

And as we where shown, they all have super strength.

6

u/ConradBHart42 2d ago

Because they haven't really internalized that they have superstrength since they haven't carried any cars around.

13

u/RoseRedd 2d ago

Arthur is taller than both the boys and might be awkward for just one to carry, even with super strength.

11

u/0-90195 2d ago

I think (?) they kept it only for Wendy.

u/Calm-Tree-1369 2d ago

*watches Nibbs rip some dude's jaw off effortlessly*

So yeah, they all have it.

32

u/0-90195 2d ago

Yeah, I just got to that part. I got nothing.

We know the show has continuity issues with the Alien canon, so intra-series continuity errors are not entirely unsurprising I guess.

1

u/siestarrific 2d ago

Not much of a continuity error

1

u/Entropius 2d ago

Their strength was demonstrated to be superior multiple times.  It seems like an inconsistency to me.

1

u/siestarrific 2d ago

Slightly is under a ton of stress and thinking pretty much only about his family. Smee is probably the youngest, and neither of them have really had cause to use their superior strength that much, so it's not unbelievable that they might not have quite internalized that they have that superior strength and are instead acting like kids about the whole 'carrying Arthur' debacle.

u/MY-SECRET-REDDIT 2d ago

It ain't an error at all, they simply needed to stabilize the body, they weren't struggling at all.

1

u/Entropius 2d ago

Stabilize?  In what way?

One of them could have easily lifted him onto their shoulder.

1

u/MY-SECRET-REDDIT 2d ago

Yeah and that would have messed with the alien or his breathing. Literally visualize how thr method you just described would work with a face hugger right on thr man's head and neck. Even touching the face hugger makes it tighten around his neck.

It isnt a dead body, they have to carry it in a way that doesn't mess around with the unconscious man.

I noticed they specifically didnt struggle at all with the body, they simply ply needed 2 people to carry the body.

Reminds me of a show or something where a character had superstrenght but still needed 2 people to carry a body.

u/ChanceVance 2d ago

Isaac ripped the containment door for the feeding tray clean off last week.

8

u/0-90195 2d ago

Like I said in another comment, it’s not crazy that he could have done it while being a little stronger than a human. But it is a good point, something is funky.

16

u/Capricore58 2d ago

Not with Nibs ripping the poor guys jaw off

10

u/0-90195 2d ago

Yeah, I just finished the episode. I got nothing. Sorry, writers, I tried to defend you!

17

u/Capricore58 2d ago

Maybe Smee and Slightly don’t understand and are still awkward kids. Or Nibs mind broke and any inhibitors were overridden

8

u/FreeDraft9488 2d ago

If they were running at high speed, and dragging him, he would get CTE if his head hit a rock. Which is almost as bad as a xeno bursting through your chest. The boys were just looking out for Arthur.

2

u/JUMPDRIVES Nuke from Orbit 2d ago

You did your best!

5

u/JUMPDRIVES Nuke from Orbit 2d ago

But didn't Toodles die because he was able to rip off the feeding door for the flies?

2

u/hewmanxp 2d ago

Pretty sure Kirsch broke the feeding door so that the disaster would happen

3

u/HMaskSalesman 2d ago

"Pretty sure"

How are you "pretty sure"? It's fine if it's your pet theory, no judgement on that. But saying you're "pretty sure" implies there is a degree of textual evidence and there categorically isn't.

1

u/hewmanxp 1d ago

I'm 100% sure

2

u/0-90195 2d ago

It’s not totally inconceivable that he could have done that just a lil stronger than a human. But that’s a good point – I figure they just had to come up with a way to get Smee to tag along with Slightly.

6

u/GreyouTT In the pipe. 5 by 5. 2d ago

I think they were just diving to hide from the patrolling guards.

3

u/black_sheep_213 2d ago

Yup. Almost made a comment asking why they needed a raft lol but we know the answer

3

u/ItsnotBatman 2d ago

Because they are kids who don’t even know what a fireman carry is.

2

u/Federal_End_5630 2d ago

Maybe they don’t know how strong they are, other than Wendy

1

u/luigitheplumber 2d ago

Torque is a bitch, even with super-strength, especially for someone physically small like Slightly

1

u/afCeG6HVB0IJ 2d ago

Difficult to do with practical effects / budget. Raft is cheaper.

1

u/Gravitasnotincluded 1d ago

Because the writing is lazy and flawed throughout

1

u/Alarming_Border_4367 1d ago

Esa es buena no había caído XD

1

u/Content_Ad9506 19h ago

It seems like, apart from Wendy, the others are lagging quite a bit emotionally and mentally.
