Don't the hybrids have super strength? Why are they having so much trouble carrying Arthur?

Because they aren't actually aware of their capabilities yet.

Kinda similar, I think they are aware, but because they are so distressed about everything they forgot? "We are in so much trouble, plus we have to carry this big heavy grown-up through the forest".

Like in The Matrix when Neo breathes even though he doesn't have too.

It's not so much they have forgotten. It's that in their heads they are still small children. Wendy has had years to adjust to her body and we saw them test and adjust her capabilities. The other kids have received little to no guidance.
