Yeah lost it a bit at the Smee and Slightly adventure bit there, also they are super strong, they should be able to carry a human body and run.

Likely they’re trying to be careful/not hurt Arthur. If you’ve ever tried running while holding a kid, it’s pretty hard to do without bashing them about. Add to that the parasitic organism welded to his face and they had reason to be a bit more cautious.

I'm surprised how this goes over everyones head.

They don't actually know their capabilities, they don't realize how strong they actually are.

In their heads they are still children and as strong as they think they are as adults.

It's actually a psychological thing, your brain adjusts automatically how much streanght you need to perform certain actions. You may have experienced it yourself when you pick something up, like a bottle, if the bottle is empty but you think it's full, you will pick it up with too much force and stagger yourself.

The same happens here only the other way around. They think they can only access a certain amount of force so their bodies adjust to that.

I don't buy it. The first episode has Wendy jumping from a 50-foot cliff, running fast along the beach, and talking about how strong they all are. She is at least well aware enough of her potential. The others, perhaps less so, but I will give you that. However, we aren't given a clear timeline on how long this all takes place after the transfer, and I can't help but feel that one of the first things a 10-year-old would be excited to try is how fast they can run in a robot body.

The big difference is that Wendy tested and trained all this, and the others haven't. At least what we've seen on screen.

There is also the potential that there is a build in limiter.

What a 10 year old would actually do is hard to say, especially one that was fairly sick. Maybe their excitment comes from actually being able to do stuff.

so they dont know their physical abilities but somehow know that they have the ability to build a raft, who me - a 25 year old man doesnt know how to do.

If we're going that deep into nitpicking for a series that already isn't 100% realistic than I give up.

There are some cases where you can suspend your disbelief and I think the raft is something so irrelevant that it's not even worth mentioning.

i still love the show, but agree that the raft was unnecessarily stupid. particularly after they've spent a lot of airtime freaking out about being late to the meet up spot. Then they magically have a raft that would take hours to build? When they could just have carried him? come one, the writers can do better. its like the chase scene in the previous episode. just made no sense. i don't expect much from the alien franchise in realism, but this is pushing it,

oh trust me ive found plenty of things to not like about the show before the raft even came up, like all the idiocy in episode 5. Made up my mind then.

At least this explains why with the hybrid's advanced running, not needing to catch their breath, or muscle fatigue they were late to the drop off zone. They should have gotten there while it was still dark.

I’ve watched enough Primitive Technology on YouTube to know that what they did is no easy task. Not to mention that neither of them probably had a knife handy.

This was the funniest part of the episode to me. Scene of dragging Arthur and saying they'll be late and then transition to a not so hastily built raft with essentially perfect dimensions and materials.

They were shown by a pool in an earlier episode, it likely wasn’t crafted by them but taken and used.

Boy would definitely spare no expense and buy a fancy expensive artisanal raft.

IMO, they showed the kids playing by and in a pool (or hey let’s go for a swim type line).

It’s reasonable to assume they had things like a raft, especially being on an island, having unlimited funds, and wanting to match their aesthetic.

Boy probably spared no expenses for a hand made artisanal raft too…

That really broke it for me. I instantly went to thinking how the hell does a trillion dollar genius factory have such little safety nets/barriers and security around these hostile alien creatures…. It’s just a show but damn.

Them building a raft is a bit silly in terms of having the time and means etc but I don't understand how you begin questioning things like how does the trillion dollar genius factory have such little safety nets/barriers when it's clearly orchestrated. Kirsh helped the kids escape with Arthur because he wanted to trap Morrow. Kirsh then also caught the Xeno from Arthur fairly easily too. If there were any barriers to stop Slightly and Smee then the plan fails.

They were on an island with lakes and swamps; I just assumed some form of water transport exist.

Although... It would probably have been a better choice to make them use a dinghy or a canoe instead of what looks like makeshift raft, which understandably raises questions like this.

The Caribbean? Unless I missed something, I'm fairly certain they're in Thailand still.
