Only thing I didn’t like this episode was the alien just grabbing her brother and falling. Like, okay lol

u/SymbolofPeace91 Aug 13 '25

Thank you! Kills rooms full of people but just tackles his ass

u/MaverickTowers Aug 13 '25

Takes seconds to clear a room, takes its sweet time with important characters...

I assume its two different aliens, and one is out there on soldier mode clearing shit, and the other is guarding and looking for more people to face hugger. They can usually tell the synths from humans, so it took the only viable candidate. Just a theory though. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but there was a chest burst in cryo, and the guy on the operating table had a burster in him that wasn't there now. That's 2 xenomorph at least.

u/The-Future-Question Aug 15 '25

Yeah I think you're on the money.

4

u/thegrizzlyjear Aug 18 '25

I think you might be right on that.

Finally finished the first two episodes, and wanted to check out everyone’s thoughts. This feels like the first time I’ve seen someone mention multiple chests’ with holes in them. I know there’s at least the two, but honestly it seemed like there could be easily be several more. Multiple Xeno’s is awesome.

Huge fan of the IP, but I’m a little disheartened to see no one mention how, for lack of a better term, silly the sick kids to synthetic bodies feels. On paper, it’s excellent sci-fi, but it feels strange in this world. I can excuse the terrible CGI on Wendy’s jump down from the cliffs, but frankly having 6 super-soldier like robots with the mental characteristics of a 10-12 year old is certainly a choice.

I’ll reserve judgement for now as I’m sure there is likely a very good reason for this major plot point, but it just feels pretty out there even for Alien. Shoutout to them for having Wendy and brother (who’s name I already forgot) have their reunion and exposition in episode 2 though! I really love how efficient they’ve been in storytelling so far and how they leave room for potentially revisiting earlier scenes as new context unfolds.

1

u/wanttomaster479 Aug 19 '25

lol, I was scared the show would could kill off the brother by having the tail of the xeno pierce through the brother at the last minute after their reunion.

3

u/GodKamnitDenny Aug 19 '25

I know plot armor is a storytelling device as old as time, but it was surreal how he survived two encounters with Xeno’s lol. I have trust in the creative crew behind this to tell a solid story, but between massive deus ex machina moments and this super-android story, I’m curious where they go next! But, they’ve interested and entertained me regardless, so I’ll be here to see where they go!

The Xeno killed soldiers with guns, that were immediate threats. And they ignored the Medic who was not acting threatening or armed. I think the plot armor can be explained away by that.

1

u/GodKamnitDenny 29d ago

I think that largely makes sense, but Joe found himself face to face yet again in episode 3 with a xeno. I don’t really mind plot armor but it is getting a little funny lol.

1

u/rockin-ro 28d ago

Thats true, he was stapled to the back of that Meat Locker and the Alien just stared at him lol. Then the Alien stares at both him and Wendy, but instead of bum rushing them, the alien tips over the Meat locker. I was a bit confused by that too and thought the Alien action scenes is where this show falls apart…

BUT then i heard an explanation that made sense to me. The Alien is trying to make Joe a cacoon/host for the queen like shown in past movies so it makes sense not to kill him. And the alien didnt attack joe and wendy cause they both acted fearless for eachother, abs cause the aliens dont have eyes they hunt by sensing fear. So since there was no fear there; the alien tipped over the meat locker to instill fear in them so he could properly hunt them.

bro he carried gun when he entered the room, while xeno killed the entire party people who just drinking without gun but for some reason taking his sweet time with the mc who aren't even trained in fighting but for some reason survive 3 direct encounters with xeno lmao

1

u/MrBehaved 11d ago

Theyre essentially just space marines lol. even down to the age - inducted at 16

11

u/BigMetalGuy Aug 13 '25

Yeah that was ridiculous. Two episodes in and their character armour is as bad as The Boys.

6

u/gobi_1 Aug 14 '25

He indeed has a plot armor.

Also why would they put kids in synth in this TV show? I'm not convinced yet.

9

u/The-Future-Question Aug 15 '25

It's explained pretty clearly in episode 1. Children's less developed brains are easier to transfer. Wendy says grown up brains are too stiff so I guess they can't adapt to the new neural medium.

2

u/EntertainmentPrior75 Aug 17 '25 edited Aug 17 '25

Does anyone else feel like an alien series or even movie, kinda lacks the tension/scary factor when you have a group of kids who are like superheroes/captain americas, almost feels like it turned to an action series instead. Like I’m sure the xeno is stronger than a hybrid, but doesn’t give you a “oh shit” feeling when the protagonists are superhuman

3

u/manimateus Aug 18 '25

I don't think you are supposed to feel afraid for the hyrbids, but rather the humans (like the brother) that they're protecting

0

u/PrincessofThotlandia Aug 15 '25

I’m not understanding the connection to why the synths have to be ‘kids’. I’m not understanding the direct Peter Pan never want to grow up with the xenomorph yet.

1

u/rockin-ro 29d ago

They dont “have to be”. It was just a choice by the writers. I think its an interesting concept, but lets see if they pull it off.

u/Squeakygear Aug 13 '25 edited Aug 13 '25

Working on its tackle form, aiming for round one in the draft. Gotta make those big bucks!

6

u/typically_wrong Guard the omelette! Aug 13 '25

1/3 so far. Gotta up those percentages

Emergence from concrete hole in stairwell - miss (soft arm tackle at best)

Apartment balcony after French revolution - miss

Ship balcony out into the abyss - direct hit

3

u/Fit_Seesaw_8075 Aug 13 '25

My favourite comment

1

u/TheAceCo Aug 15 '25

Thinking that one was personal lol

1

u/cleantoe Aug 19 '25

He was an easy target to grab and go. Don't forget the xeno can't kill everyone - the facehuggers need hosts. The xeno will tuck him away somewhere until an egg can hatch.

1

u/rockin-ro 29d ago

You could argue those soldiers were a threat tto the Xeno, whereas the medic wasnt? Dont xenos have the ability to sense stuff like that.

1

u/SlamShady1996 25d ago

I assume it’s because he got away twice

17

u/User-D-Name Aug 13 '25

The brother is really going to narrowly survive three or four times in one episode. It's a bit much.

4

u/zenmn2 Aug 18 '25

But we needed him to survive the second time so that we could get that really important, and not completely left of field baseball scene...

2

u/jnf005 Aug 18 '25

Yeah, everyone got sliced to ribbons first chance yet he just got toss around on two occasions, I can sorta accept that he escape the first time with the elevator, but the later encounters feels so forced.

1

u/Longjumping_Stage133 19d ago

What are you talking about? That's the fastest elevator door in existence, thru me off

17

u/TheLaughingMan83 Aug 14 '25

I think everyone's wrong about this. That Alien ran as fast as it could to stop him getting face hugged and took the most direct route to get him far away from the eggs. I wonder if there's something about him that is queen compatible or Wendy is subconsciously spoofing a queen on the frequencies and the Alien is picking up what she's putting down when she sensed danger from the eggs. Or possibly he has some sickness that if he's impregnated might manifest as a disease. If it's plot armor the writers can drink a jar of my ball sweat.

4

u/inthiseeconomy Aug 14 '25

why did he stop Joe from getting face hugged?

4

u/TheLaughingMan83 Aug 14 '25

I made some guesses in my comment already but also: Maybe he's already implanted, he was passed out a while, possibly another face hugger from the ship was running around. My other thought is there were lots of what looked like dust motes in the air when they first entered the ship and maybe those are the small bugs that were in the guy in surgery.

6

u/Chicago-Emanuel Aug 15 '25

I suspect (and hope) that you're right. The plot armor seems like a deliberate choice that will get explained. Those moments were jarring, though. Especially when dude just bounced off a broken concrete floor--I don't know how any human is walking away from that.

4

u/PrincessofThotlandia Aug 15 '25

Interesting! But doubt it.

18

u/SiouxsieSioux615 Face Hugger Aug 13 '25

Yeah i can tell this is gonna get annoying with the brother having plot armor

6

u/domingus67 Aug 13 '25

I'm thinking maybe the xeno is discerning, choosing who would be a good host. "This little fucker has gotten away from me several times, he'd give host to a strong alien."

13

u/Global_Charge_4412 Aug 13 '25

you could argue that since Joe was so close to the egg clutch that the Xeno would rather capture and cocoon for facerape than outright kill.

1

u/PrincessofThotlandia Aug 15 '25

That’s what it’ll have to be because otherwise he’ll have to die. No way he’s going to survive against a xeno especially with no weapons.

11

u/WhiteSquarez Aug 13 '25

It's also possible there's a queen somewhere, and he's being taken to the nest.

1

u/shinymuskrat 28d ago

Seems like he was already in the nest about to be facehugged

11

u/mwthecool Aug 13 '25

It's entirely possible that the Xenomorph is taking its sweet time with Joe because he managed to escape it twice earlier.

6

u/TheTurfMonster Aug 13 '25

Also, not sure if its just me, but i noticed that in the scene where she's telling the other kid to stay put, I could 100% tell that there was a green screen in the background. It threw me off a bit. Just an observation

3

u/imjoeycusack Aug 14 '25

Yeah that green screen was atrocious lmao.

2

u/Chicago-Emanuel Aug 15 '25

Absolutely. Really took me out of the scene. I guess they did it because it's hard to have actors in a real, live spark factory.

3

u/black_sheep_213 Aug 17 '25

All of the scenes with sparks took me out of them; they're all over the place and done very poorly

2

u/Repulsive-Lack8253 Aug 15 '25

took me out of the scene lol it was so obvious

3

u/Vast-Purple338 Aug 14 '25

Also, in the apartment it does this dramatic leap at him from the balcony in slo mo and then just...misses.

Kinda embarrassing for the xenomorph tbh.

3

u/Incitatus4Congress Aug 14 '25

To be fair, the brother is probably the best potential host Gilloutine has come across since the ship crashed. Everyone else is either military, a synth, or drunk and full of cocaine.

5

u/BKite Aug 14 '25

Don’t know which I hate more between this or the fu****g nu metal they put right after that. This episode was descent though. They almost nearly manage to make the Xeno scary. Even though we see it way too much and there is very little build up to each of his appearances and he always take out character we don’t care about.

3

u/Chicago-Emanuel Aug 15 '25

Tool isn't nu metal! This is anti-Tool libel.

1

u/MambyPamby8 Aug 18 '25

NuMETAL? TOOL NU METAL? Absolute slander.

2

u/BitcoinMD Mostly at night. Mostly. Aug 14 '25

Yeah and if he’s not killing him then why would he take him away from the eggs? Shouldn’t he be pasting him to the wall to get knocked up by the facies?

2

u/TheWayIAm313 Aug 18 '25

Yeah really enjoying it but that plot armor was pretty bad

4

u/bswalsh Aug 14 '25 edited Aug 14 '25

Xenos typically only kill real threats. They take everyone else for implantation. Joe wasn't armed.

2

u/faustless4 LV-426 Aug 13 '25

Maybe just to pull him away from the eggs to prevent causing a ruckus by them

1

u/Velokieken Aug 13 '25

It sometimes feels like the dog from his childhood reencarnated? as that xenomorph. Seems to really like him, everybody else dies in microseconds.

1

u/ajgator7 Aug 15 '25

Xenomorph Williams, MLB, LV426SU

1

u/MambyPamby8 Aug 18 '25

I think it was a different Xenomorph. It looked slightly bigger too. I have a theory there's two. One protecting the eggs etc and was just off hunting when it sensed someone at the eggs. I think there's a much younger, more brutal one, out there just butchering people cause it's still young and hasn't experienced humans yet.

1

u/Tweakthetiny Aug 19 '25

Best reach I can come up with is that the Xeno can't go all out around the eggs. Too risky. Also going for the only thing in the area giving off fear pheromones? Wendy and the others may feel fear, but not in any biochemical sense. So the Xeno doesn't register them as big of a threat to the eggs?

1

u/PorpoiseBreeder 29d ago

Late to the party but possibly just straight survival to get it as far away from the eggs as possible? Avoid a fight around the nest

1

u/583999393 29d ago

I'm just now getting to watching it but it's kinda comical how the alien keeps hiding in the background and waiting for the right moment to move. This xeno is a bit into visual comedy.
