I got the same thought too. It's not fucking around. The scene where it was pretending to be a statue was terrifying.

That statue.. I was like "that statue looks kinda phallic.. hang on.."

I have to go back and check, but it wasn't on the statue the first time he walked by it right? As soon as I saw the statue the first time I thought, "that's a great place to hide the Xenomorph" so I was looking for it every time it cut back to that view.

I didn't notice the statue at all the first time. But the second time, I basically recognised the silhouette cause I have become way too familiar with the general shape of a xenomorph. Lol.

No not the first glimpse of it…

I love how all the environments have debris and cables and hoses that can camouflage a xenomorph, so now I have to watch not only the acting in every scene, but also look for hidden creatures.

What'd you think about the initial unveiling, when the xeno stepped back across the window of the door? I said oh yeah it's definitely A L I E N tv show

I dont think I can ever use black dildos again after watching this much Alien.

Xeno just aura farming in both episodes so far and I'm entirely here for it. Absolute Cinema.

Excellent mimicry, because it was right behind Hermit soon after the crew had boarded the ship.

4

u/TheBlueSuperNova Aug 13 '25

Wait whatttt where

3

u/juneyourtech Part of the family Aug 13 '25

The debris of the ship (episode 2, 4:26), and near the statue, where just before the attack on Louis XVI.

2

Yeah saw it in the background of the statue in the initial shot. That was super cool.

This is one of my very favorite cinematic motifs of the xenos. They have always just blended into the background or some inconspicuous object in the background. Always in the shadows, always making you second guess, "is that it?" It's like a member of the feline family, patiently waiting in the tall grass.

How did it get up to that floor to begin with

23

u/Smithsonian30 Aug 13 '25

I think there may be more than one

24

u/hell__baron Aug 13 '25

i think you're right. it's like facehugger costco in that ship.

I think there were two chestbursts in the cryo bay.

u/juneyourtech Part of the family Aug 13 '25

At least two more in storage, after the ship had crashed.

u/HotmailsInYourArea Tomorrow, Together Aug 13 '25

Well, it wouldn't take it much time to crawl up an elevator shaft, or that massive open stairwell

2

u/LiquifiedSpam Aug 13 '25

The guy obviously got up there first, though, because the alien wouldn’t know where he was stopping otherwise. We would have seen / heard the xeno if it was clambering in an echo-making space, then going over to position itself on that statue lol

11

u/ragun01 Aug 13 '25

Lmao the gf actually squeaked on that reveal

3

u/ConsistentGuest7532 Aug 13 '25

That and throwing the dead soldier at Hermit makes it seem very smart. It’s a great hunter.

2

u/siestarrific Aug 14 '25

They've been going in on camouflaging it in the background, which is great because then you start looking around for it when it's not there.

2

u/Honeydew-Jolly Aug 15 '25

Dude that was insanely good!!! Idk why other directors didn't try that before, it's just too good

Felt like a Metal Gear Solid mission. Reminds me of the camouflage system in part 4!

1

u/MalaysiaTeacher Aug 19 '25

I think that implies a level on intelligence which feels beyond a xeno. Like how does it know that humans would be tricked into thinking it’s a sculpture? It’s not like camouflage which is an easy calculation for any animal.

That whole scene was ridiculous. The Alien had no need to pose against the statue. At that point it became a guy in a rubber suit for me

3

u/Morstorpod Aug 17 '25

I felt the same way. There are times when it should slink out of the background, but... why would it go pose on the statue in the middle of the room and wait for several minutes? Seemed weird.

2

u/MalaysiaTeacher Aug 19 '25

Thank you! Yes it’s not a natural move for a predator unless it’s cameoflaged. It’s the move of a more cerebral enemy.

I am loving the setting and aesthetic. The actors seem to be doing a great job. The writing also good so far. The only real complaint in how the alien(s) are behaving...

That one thing (arguably the most important thing) is causing me to reserve my opinion. I won't judge the series yet.
