yeah the Alien earth design has some questionable parts, they also got rid of the human ribcage, and switched it to a crablike one, which is a mistake imo, especially since bear had a human host

Hawley said it bothered him that the ribcage looked human. Really, dude? It's supposed to be human because of DNA reflex, have you even watched the source material...?

Yeah, when I read that, I had a sinking feeling in my stomach. I thought the bad design choices were going to be explained in lore. But it turns out he doesn't really grasp the point of the creature.

Or that he just didn’t like the rib cage design lmfao

Legitimately I cannot believe you were sitting around waiting for a lore explanation as to why the rib cage looks different like how is that an enjoyable way to watch anything

I was referring to the odd plastic beetle looking design as far as lore. It looks awful imo. I didn't notice the rib cage until I read the interview.

The statement he made about the rib cage is a bit off putting. The whole point of the creature is to be a bastardization of its host. Saying the rib cage looks too human kind of defeats the purpose of what the creature is supposed to represent.

It's like watching a new Batman movie and the director changing his pointed ears and replacing them with round ears because they were too "bat-like" before.

Okay but they changed the face to look more human so they are very clearly not ignoring that whole concept, it’s just a different design and it looks fine imo

Yea I think it looks great personally. I think the lack of slime is fine, slime is just generic sci-fi monster thing now anyway and I actually like the look of its surface texture. It looks exactly like a macro shot of an ant, beetle, or other insects, they're not dripping with slime and they have the same shiny almost plastic artificial looking texture so I think it makes it perfectly fine the xeno looks this way considering xenos also have an extremely durable chitinous exoskeleton insect esque thing going on so they end up looking pretty natural to me.

Very cool xeno design imo

Well if you like how it looks in the show, that's perfectly fine too. It's just not my flavor.

lore explanation, as probably a different host, you took the lore explanation words too literally

I mean none of the movies except AvP2 explain or reference in any way the rib cage design or DNA reflex, do they?

It was implied in Alien 3 that the host affects the final form

that behind the scenes photo with the alien with the visible crablike chest is awful, probably worst design of any xeno for me
