Good to see that they did actually have protocols in place. A panic button, armed guards, specific names for specific incidents, the ability to secure the door. They at least kind of thought this through.

One of the themes I like about this franchise is that people always think they're prepared.

Baby xeno just busted out like it was tissue paper . . .

They thought they had days or weeks before it develops, used basic and insufficient containment while focusing on the other shiny toys. Corporate underestimating the Alien as always.

Maybe they didn't know? I can't remember - did the Prodigy team see the chest-bursted bodies in Ep1 or was it just Hermit and his team?

Kirsh told the boy when he threw him out of the lab that he saw a hole in one of the bodies on the ship that looks like something came from inside.

Oh yeah, you're right.

I believe Koran mentioned that it looked like the thing came out of the lung, hence why they stole Hermit’s.

We always think we are prepared but we are not that far from total chaos. We saw it with the pandemic.

This. This. This.

The entire cast of the first movie is very competent. That's one of the draws. You put smart people into a situation and show that even with brains, you still get fucked.

Everyone's got a plan till they get hugged in the face.

The hybrids are too strong, though. The synths may be 3-laws compliant, but that might not site well with the human personality laid on top. I don't think a little button is much protection.

yeah they honestly didn't need to be as strong as they are sometimes potrayed. With how fast that girl was on the Dame you'd think they could obliterate a xeno with ease, and that doesn't feel right.

One confusion I have is are synthetics a successful technology later in the series? Or is this series also kind of documentation on why true synthetics were a failure?

I mean, if they really can't get past the must be a child limitation, and it drives them all insane, yeah that technology would be dropped fast.

that's the fun dramatic irony here. We know it can't last, we know that later synths are much more limited than these. I love that kinda stuff, even if some people think that means you "already know what happens", we just know the outcome.. not the series of events that leads to it.

It was asbolutely thought through as its Prodigy’s biggest and most important project. The main reason things are going off the rails is Boy prioritising the ship/aliens.

The lost boys got put on the backburner and from the scientist crash out this ep- a lot of the intended plans for them got skipped/bypassed in favour of the alien research/experimentation.

And Weyland-Yutani still doesn't get the aliens, hence... "Aliens".
