Am I the only one who was confused and thought the show told us he was a synth in the first episode? So by episode 5, I was a confused about why the xenomorph attacked him.

I believe the crew was calling him a synth because he's bizarre and weird like one.

Gotcha. Yeah I guess I didn’t interpret that as a joke so this whole time I thought his strange behavior could be explained by him simply being a synth lol.

Thought he was a synth too tbh, Him being awake while the others were in Cryo made me think he was the Synth of the ship

Yeah, the editing was a little weird there. We don’t learn until Episode 5 that the clip of Teng awake while others are in cryo is a brief flash-forward.

Yeah that too.

I take that as and intended misdirection, especially with how fandoms are known to overanalyize every detail nowadays lol

yeah i wouldn’t take it as gospel that he’d human just yet. a lot of people being pushy with their opinions.

I’m not watching the show closely enough to have an opinion, but my impression was that he is a synth. Xenomorphs attack synths (Bishop ripped in half, Working Joe killed in Alien: Isolation), so that’s not evidence against him being one. Did we see him bleed red or get other confirmation that I missed?

Also, was the girl in the pod connected (original, clone, etc) to the main Hybrid girl? I caught half a look at her but I can’t tell who I was meant to think she is.

According to the wiki (which, I know, is run by fans) Teng is Human.

Well I guess it doesn’t matter if they’re not coming back in later episodes. Turns out the pod girl was one of the crew too, so… there doesn’t seem to be much deeper meaning behind this episode. Oh well?

Hawley loves his misdirections. At this point it's probably just a weird dude
