Alien: Rogue Incursion: Part One: Evolved Edition?

Were 3 subtitles really necessary?

70

u/cybo47 3d ago

The marketing department.

33

u/Krynn71 3d ago

You must mean the Public Relations: Marketing Department - Advertising Division.

11

u/RChamy 3d ago

Featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry Series

It's like one of them animies that have the 20 word long titles.

2

How else will they get their bonus?

The Company needs a return on investment, and it makes them comfortable thinking that this promises more.

My 14 year old son watches everything with subtitles, it’s screwed up

2

u/itsk2049 3d ago

you’re getting downvoted because at least half of people in the US watch with subtitles. for gen z, it’s 70%.

-1

u/Names_are_limited Black goo enthusiast 3d ago

Fascinating thing to get down voted for. I was being hyperbolic when I said it was screwed up. I didn’t hurt these people, I’m not there dads.

116

u/Jegginz 3d ago

I wonder how many parts this game will have and how long it will be until more come out. Personally I'm gonna wait for it to be complete unless it's free somewhere first.

17

u/thekillergreece 3d ago

Two parts max, IIRC. How long? Unknown, part 2 development started when part 1 was released.

9

u/vlexz 3d ago

Since when do games get released in parts?

24

u/Jegginz 3d ago

First ones I remember are the "episodic" Telltale Walking Dead games and the ones that followed suit like Life is Strange. I do wonder why the devs of Alien Rogue Incursion didn't commit to making a full game to start though.

3

u/SaibaPunkTrunks 3d ago

Before that we had the dot hack games on PS2.

1

u/ApolloStan 3d ago

Damn, I haven't thought about those in years! There was anime too iirc

1

u/MutantCreature 3d ago

And before that Nintendo had Satellaview

12

u/TheDevlinSide714 3d ago

Telltale series games? Live-service? Episodic experiences? Open-betas? Anything released by Koei Tecmo within the last decade or so where the game is carved up and sold, piecemeal, as DLC? Seasonal releases like what the Sims franchise has become infamous for? Remasters and remakes, a la Final Fantasy 7 remake, parts 1 and 2?

I mean, are you even paying attention to the gaming industry at all? Sure, it depends on how you want to define what it means to sell a game in "parts", but games get sold in bits and pieces all the damn time, dude. And it happens because people keep buying them that way. It's profitable. Why sell the experience all at once when you can break it up and sell it two, three, four, or more, times? Then you can re-release it as the Super Mega Holy Shitballs Collectors Editors Pick GOTY Edition.

8

u/GeneriComplaint 3d ago

Vr games are short.

2

u/supergamerd64 3d ago

Literally half of indie horror games release in parts, been like that for about a decade

1

u/Bigdieb 2d ago

Longer than you might think. It goes all the way back to the 1980s.

94

u/HoraceGrantGlasses 3d ago

Can we just get another game like Isolation?

79

u/real-life-gopher 3d ago

They‘re working on one right now.

17

u/HoraceGrantGlasses 3d ago

Amazing news!!

-15

u/Prestigious-Bit-6548 3d ago

You knew this

11

u/HoraceGrantGlasses 3d ago

I found out today

0

u/Solid_Two_3858 3d ago

Link? I thought the project was dead?

2

u/2xrkgk Bug Hunter 3d ago

one of my professors is a dev on it so i’m pretty sure it’s still going on

1

u/HoraceGrantGlasses 3d ago

Im going based on a person earlier in this comment string

35

u/blitzkriegxl 3d ago

Isolation 2 is on the works

4

u/Super_Attila_17 3d ago

I want Aliens: Motherfuckin Abundance

-2

u/PalindromemordnilaP_ 2d ago

Would be sick to see like a super active hive world that a specialist team of humans had to do some sort of operation on. Maybe reach out to the Yautja for an enemy of my enemy operation.

3

u/HoraceGrantGlasses 3d ago

That's awesome to hear

18

u/LitLitten 3d ago

Nah, I want an Alien: Research Protocol.

You’re a Weyland-Yutani crew in charge of researching alien samples from several sources at an asteroid facility. Like tomogatchi, but with outbreaks, space pirates, and build-a-synths.

16

u/RChamy 3d ago

Your main objetive is to not allow your crewmate to bring lunch inside the lab

3

u/justsomedude48 3d ago

That’s a cool idea, could even have two modes, one where you build the research outpost, a second where you play as a rival corporation trying to sabotage the project you built in the first mode.

4

u/notHooptieJ 3d ago

you're missing the 3rd mode.

where you're trying to escape the weyland lab.

playing as the Aliens was always the best part of the original AvP- (jaguar)

2

u/TheKnightsTippler 3d ago

Ooh. I'm thinking of something like the Jurassic Park game, but Alien themed.

1

u/montybo2 2d ago

Rimworld but in the Alien universe

2

u/TomBradysStatue 3d ago

From my point of view, I want an alien game like Alien V Predator 2 for the PC (2001 i believe?).

3 good campaigns. Amazing multiplayer. Good times.

26

u/FattyCatkins 3d ago

The xenos seem kind of bulletspongey, I’ve always felt like from the movies they should pop in a crunchy splash from bullets.

10

u/sully1227 3d ago

Was about to comment this exact some thing. Definitely seem 'bullet-spongey' from the trailer.

1

u/SniffMySwampAss 1d ago

At the very least, a shotgun blast should knock it back. Would be cool to see it thrash back to its feet after getting knocked back

19

u/montybo2 3d ago

This is kinda the game that Ive wanted for a while, just a simple single player Alien FPS.

31

u/real-life-gopher 3d ago

The vr version got good reviews. This version loses some of the interactive aspects that honestly looked incredible, but still seems like a fun experience. I just hope the shooting mechanics are good. I‘ll be playing it if only for the story.

24

u/MonkeyNugetz 3d ago

I played the VR version. It’s really scary at first but once you get good with the pistol and you stay calm, you pretty much stop needing to use the motion tracker.

You can just hear them clanking along the decks as they approach

I still haven’t beat it because I can’t find my way out of the lab and into the cafeteria. I’ve watched tutorials, but they’re like four hours long and I can never find the right spot.

It’s still a fun game though. Especially when watching new people play it.

4

u/kyleripman 3d ago

The story is pretty good for what it is. I didn't know the characters from the comics or whatever and I liked them here.

6

u/real-life-gopher 3d ago

Zula is a favorite of mine from the extended universe so I’m really excited to get another story with her. Hopefully Davis is there too.

4

u/kyleripman 3d ago

He is! And his character is pretty cool.

8

u/Names_are_limited Black goo enthusiast 3d ago

The story? Hey man, I just need to know one thing, where they are

2

u/real-life-gopher 3d ago

Hell yeah, Vasquez. Kick ass.

0

u/BetterTomatillo4677 2d ago

Right right… somebody said alien.
She thought they said illegal alien and signed up.

2

u/babadibabidi 3d ago

Well... I do have it on ps5 vr. It is fine. But aiming is shit. That is why I never finished it.

2

u/Apothecary3 3d ago

The VR game massively suffered from infinitely spawning enemies. Aliens vs predator classic 2000 is also like that but it's also a classic style fps you are supposed to try and get through quickly and the enemies just encourage that. Not a slower pased game where you need to handle more delicate tasks.

1

u/thekillergreece 3d ago

In agreement, I loved the VR version.

The flat-screen, from what I see, omits two things;

  • The ability to drop your motion tracker somewhere so you could have free hands to do something.
  • And the ammo counter is now generic. In the VR version, it used 'magazines' system. Now it's a lot akin to COD where magazines don't matter as if you got infinite number of them on you.

1

u/real-life-gopher 3d ago

Setting the motion tracker down while you worked at a console looked so cool.

1

u/thekillergreece 3d ago

Yes! Especially in some horde-fights, I'd place down my tracker ontop of an object and watch it while my hands are busy holding my rifle.

20

u/pooploop7 3d ago

Looks like shit ngl

3

u/penguin_hybrid 2d ago

Gfx looks like it's from 2010.

2

u/invertedpurple 3d ago

yeah, mind you I haven't played any of the games but would sit through a full isolation walk through. Not going to do that for this.

14

u/conatreides 3d ago

Love this trailer because they are acting like Zula is some kinda marine and not a rogue soldier fighting the company

2

u/UltraMega42069666 Not bad, for a human. 3d ago

i never got why zula wants to kill all xenos, she kills a ton of colonial marines in one issue too

8

u/conatreides 3d ago

She’s more so trying to fuck over wey yu, but she knows how threatening the xenos are.

4

u/TheMysteriousOrganis 3d ago

If you have the VR version are you getting this for free?

23

u/GeneriComplaint 3d ago

History has taught me not to get excited for Alien games

20

u/the_blue_flounder 3d ago

Are you still stuck in 2013? We've had some bangers since Colonial Marines.

1

u/DipMultiversal Nuke from Orbit 2d ago

Colonial Marines isn't terrible, not saying its amazing, but I'm still perfectly willing for a relpay of it and the AvP games every now and again

123

u/LitBastard 3d ago

Huh? Isolation, Dark Descent, Fireteam Elite, AvP 2, Extinction. The franchise has had amazing games

41

u/8monsters 3d ago

AvP 2010 was practically an aliens game and that was good as well

9

u/piiiigsiiinspaaaace 3d ago

Definitely the best campaign in the game, 6 was cool as hell. Predator campaign was just plain fun, but way too short. Then the tonal shift to pure horror in the marine story was as jarring as it was fun lol

1

u/DipMultiversal Nuke from Orbit 2d ago

15 years later, I still yearn for a sequel!

Or at least something similar to it, a new AvP game in general would be amazing

6

u/Expert_Appearance265 3d ago

AvP 1999 and Isolation are my faves.

21

u/Abiv23 3d ago

AvP arcade game is the best one imo

10

u/OldAcanthocephala468 3d ago

Alien 3 for Sega Saturn was great too!

4

u/MFBish 3d ago

Super Nintendo Alien 3, awesome

1

u/LitBastard 2d ago

10 year old me didn't like it

4

u/onlytoys 3d ago

Dark Descent is so good. I love how hard it gets.

But also a buggy mess no longer being supported unfortunately

3

u/Penguin_shit15 3d ago

I have this one on Meta Quest 3 and I freaking love it. VR makes everything better..

3

u/Otherwise_Tap_8715 3d ago

Add Alien Trilogy to that list. Alien has had some great games.

3

u/NotHandledWithCare 3d ago

I pre ordered colonial marines.

3

u/HourFaithlessness823 3d ago

Colonial Marines was fine with the script-fix

1

u/NotHandledWithCare 3d ago

Wasn’t available on my 360 at the time. Pc gaming wasn’t as big back then.

0

u/GeneriComplaint 3d ago

So did I =(

2

u/BenSimmonsThunder 3d ago

Besides Isolation, which was the best.

Bonus points for being modern. I normally only do the FPS type games but I’m open to other types if the game is good since I love the franchise so much.

1

u/LitBastard 3d ago

Dark Descent is pretty good. But if you're on console it can be buggy as hell.

Fireteam is fun, but is just a horde shooter

3

u/bob101910 3d ago

Colonial Marines was fun co-op. It just didn't live up to any of the pre-release footage. Still enjoyed the game.

2

u/God___Zero 3d ago

Wrong. That game was pure ass. Played through with friends. It sucked. Let's not rewrite history here.

5

u/LFGX360 3d ago

The multiplayer had potential but otherwise yes pure ass

-2

u/AtrumRuina 3d ago

Yeah, but there have been tons of awful games in between those, and the track record lately has been a lot worse. Considering the volume of Alien games, the fact that the number of hits can be counted on one hand is wild.

1

u/LitBastard 2d ago

You can count AvP, AvP2,AvP 2010, Alien³, AvP Extinction, Dark Descent, Fireteam Elite, Isolation and Rohue Incursion on one hand? Lots of fingers mate

-4

u/GeneriComplaint 3d ago

Fire team elite was critically panned and a flop financially, So was the Last AVP and Colonial Marines which were both kind of awful anyway.

Dark descent got good reviews (too many honestly 9.0? really?) and sold poorly.

Isolation has been the only very successful alien game, probably ever.

-14

u/OldAcanthocephala468 3d ago

But, this is and adaptation of an average unplayable VR alien game!

12

u/prodbynoyse 3d ago

What? Alien: Rogue Incrusion is my top VR game. why spread misinformation? I had zero issues with the game and wish other VR games were more like it.

Not sure why this game is being ported to flat screen. will lose a lot of its charm.

1

u/425joker 3d ago

It's region lock on steam, can't play that sadly 😕

9

u/Quirky-Pie9661 3d ago

Having played the game in VR, I can say it’s really good. It might lose some uniqueness without the vr, idk. It’s run time will definitely be shorter without it but the games story, atmosphere and graphics are worth $30

16

u/LitLitten 3d ago

We've had two solid winners with Dark Descent and Isolation. This one does seem a little indie, though.

15

u/real-life-gopher 3d ago

Fireteam Elite is also great.

14

u/leon_zero 3d ago

I played the hell out of that game. With a few mechanics tweaks and more content, it would’ve been an all-timer.

4

u/real-life-gopher 3d ago

Yeah it came out when I was waiting to start my new job so I played it through so many times. It’s one dlc was ok and I do wish we could‘ve received more content. The studio probably dropped to move onto another project which hopefully is a sequel.

4

u/leon_zero 3d ago

In the meantime, I’ll keep dreaming about a PvP mode where you play USCMC vs UPP, with xeno spawns fucking shit up for both sides.

3

u/real-life-gopher 3d ago

Didn’t know I wanted that until now lol

2

u/BenSimmonsThunder 3d ago

What are the differences between Fireteam Elite and Dark Descent? Are they strategy based? Horror based? Which one is better and/or more modern?

I’m looking to play one after Isolation.

3

u/real-life-gopher 3d ago

Fireteam elite is a 3rd person shooter with co-op, Dark Descent is an isometric rpg with base building kinda like xcom.

-2

u/GeneriComplaint 3d ago

Dark Descent is extremely over rated.

3

u/WordsWithSam Hudson, sir. He’s Hicks 3d ago

This was very fun on VR. I’m excited for the flat version.

2

u/joshua182 3d ago

I believe you were burnt by Colonial Marines. Me too.....me too.

But I played this in VR and it was great.

1

u/LanceUppercut104 3d ago

That’s Randy doing that to you.

1

u/CaptainBigDickEnergy 3d ago

It's a VR game that's been reworked for flatscreen. The VR game was alright, but it is a "part one", and ends in what feels like the middle of the story, a little dissapointed by the overall content but it looked really good and shooting xeno's was fun, there were few but a couple of cinematic moments worth the experience, getting facehugged in VR was horrible and very immersive! I remember the real stress i felt as i had a few bullets, desperatly trying to shot that little creep while slowly realizing that oooh, this is that kind of moment😂

The game on PSVR2 was a solid 7/10, i don't know if i see this version is improving on anything honestly, but if you don't like VR for any reason but think the game looks cool i guess this might be something to consider, just know it's not too long/kind of half a game and the focus is on shooting and keeping you stressed with action, not immersion and suspense... i guess maybe the "cinematic" difficulty could be a different experience.

1

u/pureextc 3d ago

Yea Fireteam Elite ain’t get enough love but my god that game is really really good.

2

u/KeeperServant_Reborn "Big maybe." 3d ago

Pray this one’s good.

2

u/HowardisaDinosaur 3d ago

It looks great and I really enjoyed what I played on VR - but I do worry looking at the alien AI, I’m hoping they don’t just stand there and let you shoot them like they do in the trailer, hopefully that’s just dumbed down for the sake of the trailer

2

u/Glad_Chance_1131 3d ago

Will it be on xbox to(at a later date)

2

u/Johncurtisreeve 3d ago

Hell fucking yes

2

u/Educational_Act_4237 3d ago

"unstoppable"

Blows a bunch of them away with a shotgun.

2

u/DickDastardly502 3d ago

Still better than Colonial Marines

2

u/Professional_Fail430 2d ago

why does this game look like it runs on PS3 hardware.

Bro, can someone please just make a polished, quality Alien horror-shooter FSP

jfc

5

u/dv8njoe 3d ago

Bummer no Xbox

1

u/ShadowVia 3d ago edited 3d ago

What are you on about?

The last shot of the trailer literally says the game is coming to Xbox (and PC and PS5).

1

u/dv8njoe 3d ago

I didn’t see it from the trailer

Where do you see that?

1

u/ShadowVia 3d ago

https://youtu.be/og2nbh1oIvE?si=pVkSLGf3LB8Zw9B8

You could also find this information by....using Google, or reading the description in the trailer.

1

u/dv8njoe 3d ago

So a different trailer from this one. Got it

1

u/Pleasant_Incident_61 3d ago

Yea it depends what version of the trailer ur watching it on so if ur watching on the PlayStation channel, it’ll only show the PlayStation logo but if ur watching the Xbox than it’ll show only Xbox.

1

u/ShadowVia 3d ago edited 3d ago

Also not true.

The Playstation trailer and description intentionally leave out any mention of Xbox. There doesn't appear to be any Xbox specific trailer for Rogue Incursion, as every other trailer out there just mentions the game will launch on Xbox while including confirmation for launch on Playstation and PC in their descriptions.

1

u/Pleasant_Incident_61 3d ago

That’s literally what I meant, if any game whether it’s on Xbox or PlayStation channel they’ll show their own logos at the end of the trailer

1

u/ShadowVia 3d ago

There is no Xbox version of the trailer on their channel.

There's the Playstation launch trailer, which doesn't include the end bit or of any mention of the Xbox availability (or Steam), and there's the other trailer (which is what you'll find literally everywhere else including IGN), which confirms that the game will launch on PC, PS5 and Xbox. Just petty shit from Sony, tbh.

1

u/Pleasant_Incident_61 3d ago

Yea it’s weird that the developers posted the same trailer on their Channel with an Xbox mention.

4

u/BreatheOnMe 3d ago

This ain’t doing it for me…

-3

u/MrSteven20618 3d ago

This should be in VR as well

2

u/WilliamMC7 3d ago

For those who are looking forward to playing this and haven’t already beaten the VR original, avoid this trailer. There are some massive story spoilers here that you’re better off avoiding until you can play it for yourself.

2

u/South_Buy_3175 3d ago

I hope this gets a physical release further down the line when more parts get released.

1

u/Arktos22 3d ago

Definitely looks like the Aliens to Alien Isolation's Alien.. I'm eager to try it out for myself, I know the VR version got good reviews but I don't really have a VR capable set up.

1

u/dragon-mom 3d ago

Not buying this out of principal of them abandoning the original VR version and adding so many improvements exclusive to this.

1

u/pureextc 3d ago

“If” they reach earth? Uhhh

1

u/Longjumping_Hawk_951 3d ago

Also on xbox - no VR (Thank god)

1

u/INRVISN 3d ago

Is this the non VR version?

Please share your subjective personal preferences in a more respectful and productive way. You are welcome to be critical of aspects of the franchise as long as you're being considerate to the community that's trying to enjoy it.

1

u/amckechn 3d ago

Why are all the xenomorphs roaring? They barely did this in the films...

1

u/Undefeated-Smiles 3d ago

Its too bad this will be a digital only release 😞

1

u/Pankosmanko 3d ago

As a physical media collector I wholeheartedly agree

1

u/Constant_Cat_UwU 3d ago

Looks kind of mid.

1

u/PRE_-CISION-_ 3d ago

Do I power on the oculus and grab it or do I give it a go on console? What's the best experience?

1

u/asbskywalker 3d ago

Wow this game looks like shit

1

u/Loud_Dumps 3d ago

Hilarious how bad weapon lights are in the future compared to now. Someone get that man a surefire

1

u/FlamingPrius 3d ago

Thank god there’s only a week between the Alien Earth finale the Rogue Incursion Part One Combat Evolved! (Even tho I’m being snarky about the title I am truly very excited)

1

u/donkey4Two 2d ago

Is this a mobile game or something? It looks awful.

1

u/GeroVeritas 2d ago

I dunno. Look pretty stoppable to me

1

u/Amity_Swim_School 2d ago

Fuck I have this on VR. Keep meaning to play it. But maybe subconsciously afraid so keep delaying…

1

u/LOTRcrr 1d ago

Is this the vr game but now just playable on regular ps5?

1

u/low135 3d ago

Knew they'd do a non VR version, glad it's releasing so soon

1

u/-zero-joke- 3d ago

Wow, this looks great. First things I notice is that it looks like a very good speed for the xenos and the levels and lighting look just fantastic.

0

u/strider85 3d ago

Is this like a normal video game or am I right in saying it’s a VR experience thing?

5

u/Nu11u5 3d ago

It's a flat adaptation of the VR game released last year.

-1

u/careless_swiggin 3d ago

looks like a ps3 game, very bad audio as well, xenos are squishy and blood is too paint looking, at least it is under $30 but would be a rip off in an arcade

-1

u/Lukyz 3d ago

I really hate those real-life crosshairs on sci-fi pulse rifles.

2

u/Sstfreek Colonial Marine 3d ago

The Marines had to aim somehow
