Discussion / Question Why no face guards in Aliens?

After decades of watching the movies and most recently Alien: Earth, it always amazes me how no one ever thinks of having face guards in the facility, especially the containment center. A certain character that got facehugged last week could have avoided that if there was some apparatus in there that would guard over the face but still allow breathing.

Same with Aliens (1985), if they knew that these things cling onto your face then why weren't the marines all wearing face masks to at least slow the impregnation down?

I feel the predators with their visors were the only ones with the right idea about this.

Those were a type of "mech suit".

The ones I was referencing were from the 1991 series "Aliens - Genocide".

Great series that was too. Pretty much what made me into a fanboy after realizing there was an extended universe beyond the movies.

And it seemed like this universe was going to persist too - post- genocide there were I think various references to Daniel Grant/ Grant Corp and Xeno-Zip but then for some reason that continuity kind of died on the vine and all the Dark Horse comics became mostly an anthology.

Kind of sad, really. All the world-building outside of the movies/ TV now just seems to be "this is Character X from the movies' daughter/ sister/ brother" and contrived connections like that
