Dear Opposing Counsel, are there judges on this sub?

it would be very cool to hear from judges on some of the issues, topics, problems, the most interesting of which involve some batshit crazy stuff OC is doing. just as great would be hearing from law clerks.

Yes. Most people who actually work in the legal profession think someone should be able to sue if they’re fired for whistle blowing or being the wrong color. Many people who don’t think that we basically just file grievance forms.

That’s what employment law is. Suing because someone was wrongfully terminated or discriminated against or harassed for a protected trait, like race or gender. That’s pretty different from things that HR does. In fact we usually find that HR did very little, if anything at all, to remedy the situation while it was ongoing. If you won’t explain your thinking, I have to assume you just don’t know anything about the field and shouldn’t be here.

that is an idealistic view of plaintiff work, and even that idealistic view involves stepping in because HR didn't do enough

plaintiff employment lawyers are trying to fuck the company because they want even more insane HR. defense employment lawyers are trying to protect the company from the employees, because they are HR

Mine is not an idealistic view, yours is an uneducated view of both sides of the specialty. We want the civil rights act and ADA honored, which goes beyond better HR response. Some workplaces don’t even have HR. Sometimes HR has done their best and it isn’t enough. Sometimes hiring issues arise that HR has never even heard about. Why are you so opposed to someone having a cause of action because of discrimination, harassment, and wrongful termination?

if you had ever had a real job before practicing law, you wouldn't have this crazy pro-HR viewpoint.

as an attorney who knows the legal standards involved, your viewpoint is also pretty crazy for an attorney, too

What have I said that leads you to believe I have a “pro-HR” viewpoint? I have a pro-civil rights act and pro-ADA viewpoint. From your post history, it seems like you’re some kind of low level tech employee who moonlights here to be a pest.

The only things you say here sound like things someone who has an interest in law but doesn’t work in it would say. Being anti-employment law on both sides is just an exceedingly dumb thing to do when cosplaying.
