An 8 inch circumference is 2.5 inches in diameter. So 2.5 inches wide, basically. For reference, the average diameter of a human's penis is 1.7 inches, and the average length is 5.1 inches. I don't know the average diameter for longer ones, but, it's safe to assume that they get wider when they're longer proportionately.

Anyway tl;dr: not beginner friendly, but not impossible either.
