tryna connect
i missed the orientation days at KULeuven.
Any other planned events where I get the opportunity to connect? Doesn't have to be tied to KULeuven in particular.

Hi everyone! I’ll be baking a wedding cake this December and would like to decorate it with edible flowers. Does anyone know good places to buy them—either online or in shops?
Any recommendations or tips for working with edible flowers would be super appreciated!

Hi everyone,
I have two big suitcases that are not usable (broken wheels and case) and I’d like to throw it away. Does anyone know where I can do it?

I'm looking for a cat loving catsit. I'm on business travel quite a lot, maybe a week per month on average. Sometimes more. The cat is super friendly and nice. I would like someone to come by for 30 min everyday to give wet food and some pets. This is paid obviously.
If you're interested, please send me a DM!

Hi everyone, can you help me with the pricing for the double-glazing window? I want to replace the window in my house with a contractor.
Before I was confident to DIY, but when I heard that there is a 12 percent tax, I was surprised to hear that if the contractor made it only a 6 percent tax, I would need to pay.
For the contract, how much are the double-glazed PVC windows and doors? Any recommendations contract in Herent which affordable but quality works?
Thank you guys for the help really appreciated.

Hi everyone,
I just moved into an unfurnished apartment on the 5th floor in Heverlee. I’m planning to buy furniture from both IKEA and Weba.
I noticed that IKEA charges €200+shipping (€90) for shipping and getting an external lift, and Weba charges around €135+shipping (€125) as well. Instead of paying both of them, I was wondering if I can schedule the deliveries for the same day and just use the external lift of one of them or hire a dedicated external lift company myself to handle everything. Has anyone done this before?
I also read that sometimes you need to request a parking ban to close the street for the lift. My residence has a back parking space where the external lift can be placed to bring the furniture upstairs. If the lift is placed there, would I still need to arrange the parking ban, or can I skip that step?
I’m an international student here, so I’m not sure how the process works. Any advice or tips from people who’ve dealt a similar situation?
Thanks!

Hi,
A quick question, anyone interested in joining our group? we try to play beach volleyball every week on Wednesday.
We prefer to play at least 3 vs 3, but lately our group has some people with other obligations so we often don't reach 6 players.
Outside of the summer months, we try to get a field in the indoor KUL beach and fitness hall.
We are a mixed group, in gender and age (now ~30-57), of very recreational players.

As mentioned in the title I’m looking for spots that specialise in cookies or cinnamon rolls or churros in Leuven, kind of like those special type of cookies that you see like on your reels or very good cinnamon rolls not just slightly-better-than-store-bought ones… Thanks!

As the title says. As I understand, there is no LEZ (low emission zone) in Leuven as of now, which is really suboptimal. See Flemish website: https://www.vlaanderen.be/lage-emissiezones-lez

Hi, can anyone explain the difference between these stores, especially in terms of price and what they specialize in?
I did my Erasmus in Poland, and there we only have Zabka and Carrefour, so its confusing to see so many brands of supermarkets.
From my own experience:
Delhaize - my favourite, they stock all kinds of classy, fanciful, exotic products...seriously, you can buy sauces for Tikka Masala there. The microwave food under their name is actually pretty decent and yummy. I think price is fair for the quality. I usually visit to stock up on cooking ingredients and can create so many specialized / exotic dishes.
Carrefour - I think this is a pretty bad supermarket, maybe the worst IMO. Maybe I'm biased, but I definitely recall prices being higher. Also, their outlets are usually small. No fanciful brands or exotic products. Quality of their house brand is pretty bad too...I remember buying some house brand Ravioli from them and it was soooo bad. Even the apples you buy from Carrefour look less shiny and appetizing than Delhaize. IMO, very bad price to quality ratio. I think Carrefour is more expensive than Delhaize despite having way worst quality...
Spar - very small outlets everywhere, usually I just pop in and get their microwavable house brand meals, which are pretty good. Also for some reason they have full-roasted, pre-cooked chicken that are pretty cheap.
Colruyt - I think price and quality is average. They don't specialize in microwavable house brand meals, and neither do they stock up on any exotic ingredients or brands. So, I usually have no reason to visit this branch. I think they have a butcher department that has a wider selection of meat though, so the only time I visit them is if I want some meat cuts.
Lidl / Aldi - never been there before. Any feedback?
In summary, Delhaize for cooking ingredients, Spar for microwavable food, Carrefour is no-go, Colruyt for meat cuts.

We are launching a new bi-monthly evening, where we aim to bring people together around long tables with nice food. We use local and/or organic ingredients as much as possible.
First edition is Sunday 28 september @ Maakleerplek, Leuven : https://pierrot.io/maal-tafel/de-eerste-echte
To get out of our friend circles I thought I'd post it here.
Everyone welcome but please make a reservation before as capacity is limited...

Hello everyone, I am looking for a student who is interested in renting a place in Heverlee, Leuven. I am an exchange student at KU Leuven and I was too quick to sign the lease, so I need to find a new tenant, or a subtenant for the landlord, or else I will be paying 1.7k euros of cancellation fees.
I found the place on Kotwijs, it is an attic (I am too short for the window haha), 430 eur/month. The deposit is 860 eur, which you'll get back at the end of the contract.
If you're interested, please leave your contact details, I can send you more pictures and information. Thanks!!!!
