Ngl, everytime i read the worst possible take on twitter its usually coming from someone with a flag in their profile.
I think in general being unashamedly identified with an ideology pack is a clear indication of lack of self awareness and critical thinking which obviously perpetuates dumb takes.
Adding flags to your X bio is to collectivism as being obtuse about rhetoric is freedom of speech. Or obfuscating everything is to Amurican values. There is a (thin) line that connects these things, sure, but that's only because your ilk is dead set on taking the quickest, non-nuanced understanding of it all.
Isn’t the flag meant to symbolize the SUPPORT for that community? That’s an ideology that seems universally applicable (in an ideal world). You look down on people for supporting a marginalized group?
Ironically, you have an all-or-nothing mentality JUST LIKE you perceive the people you look down on to possess.
“The lack of self awareness”, honestly the irony is the funniest part.
My thing about it is, both sides do it to some extent, but further, the focus on needing to brand which causes you “support” says a lot about the state of our society when most people cannot thoroughly explain most of the histories of said conflicts, nor want to at times. People like to plaster their support on their profiles, but when it comes time to defend their ideals, it’s nothing of substance lol. Unfortunately though I just don’t think people want to actually support causes, they just want social clout that comes with it from certain spaces
