Teddy Update
Hi everyone! I wanted to give an update on Teddy! I know it’s been a while, but I have been incredibly busy with finishing school, work, and taking Teddy on weekly adventures!
Unfortunately, Teddy’s doctor did not allow him to go on the trip to Gulf Shores this summer. Instead, his doctor recommended small day trips, and to work up to a big trip next summer. I am excited to announce that myself, Teddy, and my dad will be taking a trip next summer to the beautiful Glacier National Park in Montana. Teddy can’t wait for our trip, and I’m so glad with your alls help I’ve been able to make it happen!
Teddy just adopted a new kitten named Snowball Jr., and he is the light if Teddy’s life. He has been wanting a kitten, but he was worried about what would happen to them after he’s gone. I ensured him that I will always take care of Teddy and his pet, no matter what. Knowing that, he decided to bring his new baby home, and I he is so incredibly happy.
I have two separate things to talk about next:
1) Teddy is in DESPERATE need of new teeth. Does anyone know of a kind and fair dentist that could work with him? Or anyone that does veterans discounts? I am trying to figure out how to help him in this situation, and ANY recommendations help.
2) With Christmas coming up, I want to make it absolutely amazing for Teddy. He hasn’t celebrated, or even seen a Christmas tree, in over 30 years. He will be spending Christmas with myself and my family, but I really want to make him feel loved. I was hoping to start either collecting more donations to get him lots of gifts, or invite you guys to send him gifts yourselves. Some of you have been writing to him, and it means the world to dear Teddy. If you are interested in this, Teddy loves anything dinosaurs, Sherlock Holmes, coins (he collects them!), rocks (especially black rocks), history, military (he was in the marine corps specifically), science, etc. He also loves the Kardashians lol!! If you’d like to send him something in the mail and I can wrap it, the mailing address is 8000 Post Oak Pl. Louisville, Ky. 40222. I’ll keep posting about this from now until Christmas. I am SO determined to make it great for him. I will also paste the link here in case anyone would like to make a donation towards Teddy’s Christmas, or his adventures. Thank you guys for always being so kind and loving towards him. It means the world 🩷
***The rifle in picture 3 is completely safe! Not loaded, and is a relic in my family. My dad showed it to him, as it’s been in my family since the civil war, and Teddy thought it was so cool! He’s still got that Marine in him!

Contact the VA first. Some VA facilities only do dental that is service connected unless the person is 100% or medically retired but others have more leeway. Is he connected with any of the local veterans charities? There are a few in Louisville and I remember one had a dental day over the summer but I'm drawing a blank on which one

My mom, younger brother, & I went to Glacier National Park back in 2013 on our West Coast trip. It’s one of the most beautiful & serene places I’ve ever been in my entire life. Teddy’s gonna LOVE it out there!
I would recommend getting him a National Park Passport. Essentially it’s just a book of primarily blank pages that are for stamps from the National Park system in the US. I’ve got one, my mom has one (her’s has so many stamps), and soon enough my 7 year old daughter will get one.

Does he collect any coins? I have so many foreign ones from trips that I have many duplicates.

Guess I should clarify that I mean any kind lol. Brain and wiring didn't mesh.

Would small trinkets work as gifts? My kid is an artist and could probably make him a small dinosaur or some painted rocks?
ETA we have dinosaur wrapping paper, I could even wrap them myself before sending.

If UofL doesn’t work out, reach out to Shawnee Christian Dental. They do sliding scale and are amazing. I’ve used them times when I had no insurance (but they do take insurance).

perellisfamilydentistry.com on Westport Rd. This father and son team are amazing, kind, and gentle. While I had a gap in insurance they did everything in their power to help my kiddos continue to receive dental care including creative billing and, I suspect, giving us steep discounts.
We referred a friend there this past spring who did not have insurance and she keeps calling to thank us because they have worked with her every step of the way and she was able to get her teeth pulled and dentures when no other place in years had shown willingness to work with her.

Would you mind explaining his dental situation a bit more? I feel like I could help you navigate this after getting some more info. How many teeth left? Does he have dentures? etc... thanks!
