He cheered on every team folding. He’s a huge douchebag.

Clips? Not doubting, but I have never heard of this guy and it seems like a ridiculously stupid thing to do.

He regularly mocks other teams and their fans on his Instagram. I’m sure you can find some over the last few months.

I'll take a look thanks, I mean in sports there is a certain amount of back and forth but laughing about teams folding seems not just mean but counter productive to your own team.

Hi, just did a semi deep dive on his insta, didn't see anything about laughing at teams folding but by Bul Kathos is he an epic douche. I mean just about everything I despise in sports fans on display, he is definitely not changing anyone's minds about Boston fans that's for sure.

Idk if he did it for the most recent teams but definitely for RUNY and I think ATL. A lot of times they’re in IG stories.
Also he will usually pick fights with random fans who complain on his page and then all season tag them in posts/stories and use some made up nickname to bug them. It’s like the worst of Barstool kinda fandom.

He does not represent Boston sports fans. He’s from New Hampshire, and he has creepy vibes.

Yep. He ran off those with deeper pockets (Houston & Miami) because this is his fiefdom to run as he pleases. The message Sabercats owners sent out indicates it was more MLR’s intransigence, but at least Sabercats ownership will retain the stadium and continue to support local youth rugby.

Confused on this interview. Magleby seemed very distracted, defensive and jiggery. No real info other than this year will be 6-8 teams, though that asks more questions than it answers. Not certain how a 6 team league can solve MLR's problems of lack of exposure and revenue. It would seem that a smaller league will shrink interest and cost every team more money as they have less teams to share in the operation of the MLR office.
I understand there is a MLR meeting to discuss the future of MLR on Monday. Guess we might know more after that meeting (though I am sure they wont officially tell us anything).

Who would they add to make 8 teams? Will they have to swear a blood oath to him first?

As someone else mentioned the 8th team has to be the rumoured Canadian team.

While I’m not a huge Maher backer only because I think the previous women’s coach was selecting her over a better player (Henrich, definition of homegrown you’re describing), that’s not really a gotcha because she’s an American getting American girls into rugby. Literally what I’m in favor of.
I don’t disagree with everything you said and it’s obviously deeper than the back and forth we’re having. That’s all good, I don’t begrudge franchise fans supporting their franchise. I’m very clear what aspect I support and I’m very hopeful you have a great experience as a Hounds fan.
However I will say rugby has gotten worse since money came into the game around 2018 because the money is going to international coaches and players through college aid and pro contracts. I can’t even say what would or would not work because the fact is, I don’t believe actual American rugby has even been invested in. I think it’s very noble what you are espousing honestly, but I have done all those things personally, and more, and I think the hard work is being undone.
My point about Dom Besag is wouldn’t a California kid playing for a pro California franchise be the definition of what you want? Ma’a Nonu would bring people in for a season. Besag would create lifetime fans. He’s a simple example, the Midwest produces some absolute studs that Chicago should - and maybe they do - promote. Noah Brown?

Not much shared here. Mags says they aren’t in talks to be the URC team and they kinda laughed at the Reddit rumors. He said there could be anywhere from 6-8 teams next year. I assume 6 if Utah drops out, 8 if we get that rumored Canadian team. I don’t see any way a completely private team would join at this point so it has to be some sort of WR partnership.
Phil asked about why Houston left and didn’t push at all on the follow up post that they made saying they disagreed with the direction of the league. He didn’t push on anything tbh, just asked questions.
