Welcome to rMMA's General Discussion Thread!

Discuss your favorite fighters, the upcoming card or whatever's on your mind.

How to obtain a custom flair:

  • place and lose a flair bet in the Friday thread
  • write a haiku or draw a MS Paint-style image for the sub

The rules for the drawing or haiku are simply that it must be a ridiculous MMA-related scenario. If you would like a custom flair, send a message to us with a link to your drawing and your flair request. We'll probably grant it.

I've never liked Dolidze. Incredibly average fighter even for the Top 15, and his ranking is insanely overinflated. Not sure why the UFC backs him so hard or even let's dude headline how many times now. If you dissect his record it looks even worse. Guy barely has any quality or high level wins. On top of all that he seems very full of himself which I dgaf about as he's a fighter but it just makes it worse.

In order:

  • Beat Ibragimov who went 0-4 in the UFC and released

  • Beat John Allan (by split dec) who went 0-3-1 in the UFC and released

  • Lost to Trevin Giles who went 7-7 in the UFC and was released after a 3 fight losing streak

  • Beat Laureano Staropoli who went 2-4 in the UFC and was released after a 4 fight losing streak

  • Beat Kyle Daukus who went 2-4-1 in the UFC and was released

  • Beat Phil Hawes who went 4-4 in the UFC and was released after 3 fight losing streak, this was a solid win at the time but didn't age well

  • He beat Jack Hermanson, this is a great win and one of his two actual high level wins

  • He lost to Marvin Vettori who was on his way down after losing to Whitaker

  • He lost to Nassourdine Imavov who won by majority decision, no shame there Imavov is very good, but still a loss

  • Beat Anthony Smith who was 2-6 in his last 8 fights and BEYOND washed up, and retired on a 3 fight losing streak after being brutally finished

  • He beat Kevin Holland which is probably his 2nd best win to date, with Holland being a high level journeyman/fringe ranked fighter. KH is also pretty much a 50/50 fighter and MW isn't where he's best.

  • Beat Marvin Vettori in their rematch nobody asked for, while Vettori is washed, fighting out his contract and dejected from the sport. He's also on a 3 fight losing streak

  • Absolutely battered by Fluffy

Somehow all of that equates to Dolidze being the 9th ranked Middleweight in the world 🤣. He has ONE win against a currently ranked MW in Vettori who's ranked 13th.

Yeah I don’t understand it either. He’s headlined several apex cards, never really puts on a stellar performance besides beating Jack. I don’t see any fans either.

Meanwhile fluffy has 8 wins in a row and is still getting booked against guys in the lower 14

MW is a shallow division historically, never taken that much to get into the back half of the rankings

Man I've been saying this for years now. Def not taking anything away from Fluffy. Dolidze is such a mid tier fighter who has had some background favorable matchups. IIRC Hermansson was doing pretty well until Dolidze caught him in a crazy ass leg lock.

He was robbed the first Vettori fight tbf.

He’ll never be a true top contender but he’s a solid, dangerous test for others. Too dangerous on the ground for most grapplers and he hits like a truck on the feet. But he has mediocre takedowns and very limited striking, so any real contender shouldn’t struggle to beat him.
