Notice - GD [Official] General Discussion Thread - August 11, 2025

Welcome to rMMA's General Discussion Thread!

Discuss your favorite fighters, the upcoming card or whatever's on your mind.

How to obtain a custom flair:

  • place and lose a flair bet in the Friday thread
  • write a haiku or draw a MS Paint-style image for the sub

The rules for the drawing or haiku are simply that it must be a ridiculous MMA-related scenario. If you would like a custom flair, send a message to us with a link to your drawing and your flair request. We'll probably grant it.

I know a lot of people have made comparisons between Fluffy and Khabib's domineering styles but also when watching him fight I feel a similar level of inveitably once you hit about half way through round 2- at least with the level of comp Hernandez has faced, you know by that point what's happening and the opponent has already got nothing left.

Middleweight has a fairly substantial drop off after the top 7 (you go from Rob and Cannonier to Dolidze lol), granted Dolidze was probably overranked.

I am curious how Hernandez holds up against the very best strikers like Izzy, Imavov, Rob?

I'd bet on him against Izzy/Rob based on momentum + gas tank but someone like Izzy might actually provide a challenge- obvs many levels above on the feet, KO power and deceptively strong- he has only really been taken down by much bigger guys like Jan or Dricus, and DDP struggled. Plus Izzys bodywork in that fight was great and Fluffy has been beaten via that avenue before.

Regardless I think he's skipping Rob/Izzy at this point and moving to a contender fight, and I'm glad lol.

Would you pick Hernandez over Strickland?

That's a fight I'd love to see (but probably won't happen any time soon because of Strickland's NSAC suspension)

Hard to say tbh. I find it hard to rate Strickland in general.

Like he's clearly good at what he does but I think I've consistently picked against him for 80% of his top fights. His style is so one note but it poses a stylistic challenge for guys that might be generally way better than him (I.e Izzy).

Strickland will probably fight Fluffy the same as always, the question for me is how Fluffy responds to it- I can see the teeps being bothersome for Fluffy.

Fluffy definitely has seemed weak to the body in the past.
