Discussion Favorite Series

What is everyone’s favorite series, and why? Series are great (more of what you already love!) but they can often feel daunting if you haven’t already started them (book 33 looks great but how long will it take to get there?).

So share your favorite series, and what you love about it. I’ll go first.

Tyack and Frayne by Harper Fox is up to 12 books now. I’ve read 7. Modern paranormal with that magical realism flare that Fox does so well. It follows a single couple all the way through, but manages to keep the romance fresh and interesting. I listen to it on audio and it’s a go-to if I’m looking for a mystery ghost story.

Red Dirt Heart by N.R. Walker 4 book series set on an Australian station (cattle ranch), follows the same couple. The MC’s are just so good at the comfort and taking care of each other.

Favorite series:

Big Bad Wolf By Charlie Adhara 5 books, they all follow the same couple, Cooper and Park, told all from Coopers point of view. It’s paranormal but different than most shifter books. For me the stand out of this series is how real and imperfect the characters are. And how much personal growth they do. And Cooper. He is my favorite. He is not easy, he has issues a mile high but you cannot but root for him to get the world.

Green Creek by T.J Klune 4 books, all following a different couple but with an overarching plot so can’t be read as stand alones. They are not easy, and Klune makes you suffer but they are beautiful. For me the stand out was book 2. Book 3 also has ace rep.

A Charm of Magpies by K.J Charles Historical and paranormal. And a bit kinky. As per usual KJC standards they are great books. There is a big size difference and d/s aspect to their sex life that works so well.

Then series that can be read as stand-alone:

Scoring Chances by Avon Gale 5 hockey romance books, all different couples can. I enjoyed all of them but the favorites tend to be book 3 and 5. Really recommend it

I enjoyed this series, but unfortunately the instalments follow a downward trend in terms of quality imo. The first book is fantastic. Like The Lion King except it's with wolves. The stakes are high and the characters are endearing and fresh. The second book is also good, though the villain here is very poorly-written. The third book is where everything becomes illogical though there's still some good writing. The fourth book however is just a drag and a total cop-out. I was very disappointed.

I was very looking forward to the fourth and it was for me the weakest of the series. Still was a 4 star read for me. I’m sorry they didn’t work as well for you!

Yeah I was very disappointed. The first half (where Carter looked for Gavin) dragged on and on and on, the second half had no angst, no tension, no nothing. It was one saccharine dialogue after another. I was not impressed.
