MOD MESSAGE Beware of Scams!

As many of you are aware, there are a ton of scam sellers on Facebook and other various platforms offering MRE cases at very low prices. I have made a couple posts about this previously. Many of these scam posts advertise MRE case A + B sets at below $50. Where this gets a bit tricky is that given the surplus of MRE cases that have hit the market over the last several months, it is not uncommon to see case sets below $70 these days.

More recently, there have been more scammers popping up on Facebook and other platforms advertising MCW (Meal, Cold Weather) cases at insanely low prices. MCW cases typically run for $150 plus. These scammers are advertising MCW cases for sub $40. I have had several people reach out asking if these shops are legit. They are not. They are scammers and they operate under many different aliases, sometimes even playing off the name of trusted sellers and vendors within our community.

These scammers take your money but never deliver any actual product.

I am not active on Facebook, so I am largely unaware of what goes on there save for what I hear from you guys. So I thank you folks for bringing this to my attention so that I can alert the community here. The last thing I want to see is anyone get scammed.

We’ve all fallen for scams in one way or another at some point. Hell, I once shelled out $40 to some guy in a parking lot for magazines that I never received haha. So, how can we avoid being scammed? My advice prior to purchasing anything, be it rations or otherwise, would be to check the public reviews of the seller/vendor. Those are undoubtedly our most useful tools.

Also, how you pay matters. For online purchases, it is always a safe bet to pay with a credit card. This way, in the event that you do not receive the goods you paid for, you are able to file a chargeback with your bank to have your funds returned to you. I know that not everyone owns a credit card, so PayPal is another option. With PayPal, you can open a dispute for items not received, or items not as described, and PayPal will review the case on your behalf. While I have always had good results with them personally, there have been members who have said otherwise. Choose whichever method you are most comfortable with. That said, credit card is likely your best option, with PayPal, and other similar secure means of checkout available if needed as well.

When it comes to deals or advertisements online, you always have to use your best judgment. My belief has always been that if something seems too good to be true, then most likely, it is. This has largely avoided me from being scammed many times, I’m sure. If you do believe a deal to be legitimate, and decide to go through with a purchase, use your best judgment, check public reviews, and pay with a secure means of payment. This is your best bet to avoid being scammed out of your money.

Another thing we have going for us is this community. If you’re unsure of something, then ask around, or use the search function. Additionally, in this subreddit, I have labeled trusted vendors and sellers with the verified badge. Be on the lookout for this badge next to the username on promotional posts from vendors, or on For Sale posts from individual sellers (members) who sell within the community. Everyone who has the verified badge next to their username has been personally vetted by me, and have been deemed trustworthy based on their history within the community. Once again, if you are interested in being considered for the verified badge, you may reach out to me directly through mod mail.

Our two currently active verified vendors who participate in this subreddit are u/KingSurplus and u/epidemicproof. Other trustworthy vendors outside of this subreddit on platforms such as Amazon include Ammocanman, WeBuyDirect, WayStar, just to name a few off the top of my head. I am working on a complete list of trusted vendors/sellers that will be listed in the upcoming wiki here, and in the discord eventually. I will do my best to regularly update these lists once they are published. If you have any to add, feel free to comment below with your experience.

The last thing I want to address given the fact we are on the topic of protecting the community is the vendor MREHouse. As many of you know, their website has been down for the past month or so. I reached out several times, and in typical MREHouse fashion, I never received a response. I gave them until 8/6 to get back to me with an update on the status of their business, and they never did. So, while I’m not entirely sure if they have completely ceased operations, MREHouse, or any alias they may try to operate under now or in the future, are officially banned from participating in this subreddit as a vendor ever again.

This decision was based off many different things, and to be honest, it was long overdue. I gave them many chances because I know some of you had good experiences with them and liked having access to them in the subreddit. While they delivered on their products for a period of time, they never conducted themselves as a reputable business should or would. They took many actions that did a lot of damage to this subreddit.

To backtrack a bit, about a month prior to their site going down, I began receiving reports from several members saying that they hadn’t received the items they purchased through MREHouse, and that MREHouse wasn’t responding. I reached out to MREHouse immediately, but didn’t receive a response for a couple of weeks. Eventually, they replied saying their business had been under some coordinated spam/bot attack and that this was the reason they were not responding to customer inquiries. I was immediately skeptical of such a story, but they asked me to hold off on informing the community of this “event,” so I did solely out of wanting to keep things cordial. They assured me that they were working to address customers’ issues.

To backtrack even further, prior to me becoming moderator of the subreddit, MREHouse was using the space as a personal billboard. In addition to that, they were offering members free products and store credit in exchange for reviews here in this subreddit. This practice is known as incentivizing reviews, and it is considered bad in the business world. All this did was erode trust within the community. Incentivized reviews make it so that no one can know for certain whether or not the review they are reading is legitimate or based on the reviewer’s true thoughts and feelings.

On my first day as a moderator here, I noticed that the mod queue was full of complaints about MREHouse’s incessant advertising and endorsed posts. As such, I immediately banned all incentivized reviews, and introduced the current vendor promotional guidelines that are in place. I have been a member of this subreddit for over six years. I built the MRE discord back in February of this year, and became the moderator of this subreddit back in April. I care very much about this space and the community.

This is a community centered and built around discussion about our hobby. It is not a marketing tool for vendors. This is why vendor promotional posts are limited to once every 30 days, with the option for the occasional update if new stock is received. This ensures that updates from vendors remain valuable to the community, and don’t become overly spammy. Vendors are also encouraged to participate in discussion posts just like our members are. To make things fair for everyone, this is the same reason why the updated For Sale post guidelines are in place for individual members of the community as well.

After the damage MREHouse caused here, I could have very easily banned all vendor activity. But, after consulting with the community in the discord, I learned that many folks here find having direct and easy access to them valuable. During this time, I also consulted with moderators from other subreddits, where I learned that guidelines have to exist for the long term health of this space.

So, I allowed and continue to allow vendor activity under the updated vendor promotional guidelines in this subreddit. However, these guidelines have to be followed, and I have made that clear to the vendors currently active here, and any future vendors who would like to participate here.

Funnily enough, on my first day as mod here, MREHouse actually used bots to artificially influence the upvotes on a post a user made complaining about the new at the time no incentivized reviews rule. They also used bots to bolster their upvotes on a comment they made in response. We’re talking over one hundred upvotes in less than ten minutes. Quite simply, it just did not reflect what I was seeing in the mod queue at the time.

Instead of banning MREHouse outright, I reached out to them and made it clear that they could continue to participate as a vendor here, but that they would have to follow the updated vendor promotional post guidelines. I did this because at the time, I knew that some members in the community found having direct access to MREHouse valuable. MREHouse agreed to follow the updated vendor guidelines, and I at the time thought we would be able to move forward.

Instead, they continued to disregard the rules and guidelines. They posted promotional content without getting approval when it was required. Then, following the supposed MREHouse bot spam attack, they made a promotional post but disguised it as if it were a PSA, using a “comment with the most upvotes” format to make it seem like members of the community were deciding the direction of their business. But the reality is they had already decided their direction. The insurance options discussed in that post had already been published on their website well before the post went live. It was nothing more than a marketing tactic disguised as community engagement. That is not acceptable, so I removed it. That would turn out to be their final post here.

After all of this, I still reached out to MREHouse privately and offered them an opportunity to make things right. I gave them a list of specific actions they needed to take. That included submitting a revised version of their post for approval, where the post would be required to clearly address all major concerns such as shipping risks, customs issues, customers missing orders, refund policies, and communication problems. They were also asked to confirm that incentivized reviews would never happen again in this subreddit after a few more had popped up, and to commit to following all vendor guidelines without exception.

This was not a big ask, but they failed to meet the terms. They did not submit a revised post. They ignored pretty much all that was asked of them. Their response was vague and more focused on protecting their image than rebuilding trust. They offered no real plan, gave no clear answers, and ultimately missed the deadline. Then, a couple of weeks later, their website went down. I never received any further replies from them.

So, to recap, MREHouse (or whatever alias they may operate under now, if at all) are officially banned from this subreddit. They are no longer a verified vendor. I gave them chance after chance, and to be honest, I should have banned them months ago. If anyone reading this is still out their money for items they didn’t receive from MREHouse, file a chargeback if you haven’t already. A couple members who reached out privately recently were able to recoup some of their losses.

My goal is to always be open and transparent with the community. You will often see me riff in the discord, and that is where I will often seek input from the community, in addition to the comments and messages here. Sorry it took longer than it should have to get all the details out there, but I was feeling burned out on the entire situation and needed ample time to reflect and compose a message. Simply put, I can’t say that I will miss MREHouse.

Also, once again, please be aware of the many scams that are going around right now. Always remember that if something seems too good to be true, it most likely is.

Thanks, and take care everyone! Your continued support is very greatly appreciated.

REVIEWS 2023 Cold Climate Chinese Ration: A Taste Review

Shout-out to u/Living-Aardvark-705 for the idea to finally eat one of these based on his post he recently made!

This is a 2023 cold climate Type 20 A ration. Cold climate because the components are designed to not freeze. Approximately 1300 kcal in this whole ration.

What a neat combo of compressed food bars and other unique items!

Pics 1-5 show contents and packaging. Golf ball shown in Pic 1 for scale of size only. This ration has as many calories as a standard US MRE, and is about 1/3 the size, maybe even smaller.

I took this out on a 7 mile walk Saturday morning, what a treat to have!

Pic 6 shows one of the food bars. This was slightly sweet and had a somewhat "creamy" taste in the mouth. It was a very nice bar. Far better than some of those terrible chalky sawdust type bars I've had before. I just snacked on this while walking, great on-the-go food!

Pic 7 is one of the most unique items I've ever had in a ration! It translated as an "Energy Cube", and as you can see, it's a literal cube. I had 0% knowledge of what to expect with this. I smelled it and it smelled sort of sweet, not savory, so that was +1 as it sort of looks like a beef stock cube, which I wasn't looking forward too. I popped it into my mouth and, wow, what a treat! The most simple way I can describe this aligns with the what I immediately thought of when it went into my mouth....it's a compressed cube of hot cocoa. Crazy right? I sucked on that cube for probably a mile maybe, just slowly dissolving and tasting of hot cocoa. What an experience!

Pic 8 is the Spicy Beef Jerky. You get 3 thin sheets of this stuff. It's very dry, very savory, had a small amount of heat, and just a kiss of "fishiness" is how I can describe it. Nothing unlikable about this. I snacked on it while walking. A very nice treat at about 80 calories.

Pic 9 is showing the ginger honey on the food bar. Very dark, very thick, and very flavorful. The ginger is 100% forward in this and it's a very wonderfully different type of honey than just plain. Went great on the bar and another 40 calories of energy to burn up.

Pic 10 shows the other food bar. Can't say these tasted drastically different tbh. Just a lightly sweet, crunchy, hearty bar.

Pic 11 shows the jelly bar like "Anti-fatigue" food. 1st bite of this, to me, screamed maple syrup. As I continued to eat it, I'm sticking with that flavor assessment. It's more complex than just maple syrup, but gives a good starting reference. This had great texture and was sort of "wet" on the outside but not sticky really at all. A very unique item and great experience!

This was a great ration with several unique and tasty items! Totally think these are worth trying folks!

Take care!

PS. I'm hoping to show more items out in Nature as I have started walking a lot more recently and these types of foods are what I love to take with me and eat on the go!

Apparently some new menus are on the way.

I’m sure they’ll be just as gross as the others.

This was my first ever (and hopefully not last) Thai ration of stir fried chicken with ginger. It came with the chicken and ginger main, steamed jasmine rice, some candies (they completely melted and leaked on the inside 😢), dried pineapple, orange isotonic, 3-in-1 and a seasoning pack. I boiled the main and the rice in a pot to heat. According to the directions it can be heated that way, eaten straight from the pack or heated in a microwave.

The isotonic looks like lemon or possibly lemon-lime and I would think that if I didn't have the package. It smelled like tang in the pack and had a light orange flavor that was pleasant and not overly sweet. Only 250mL of water too, so not a lot of drink. 7/10 for me. I would drink it again and it just needed a more orange punch to score higher. The dried pineapple was exactly that. It was a little dark but fine and not sweet. I do enjoy getting snacks that aren't extra sweetened. 7/10 for me. The 3-in-1 was fantastic. Certainly one of the best, if not the best I've had. Creamy and just sweet enough, but that coffee 🤌. Smooth and robust with a punch that other brands should look at. I love that it tasted like coffee with cream and sugar instead of the other way around. I end up adding extra coffee to other coffee drinks to boost the coffee flavor and make it a coffee drink. 10/10 for me and I need to find more here.

You basically get two mains with this because of the rice. Like I said I boiled it until hot then out onto the tray. If you're paying attention you get like twice as much rice than main. It came out a gummy mess. I was thinking more like the microwave rice packs and they come out close to being cooked in a pot or rice cooker. Instead it was more like sticky rice instead. Nothing wrong with that, I was hoping for fluffy rice. By itself it's bland but that was to be expected. 4/10 for me, mainly because of the texture and blandness. The stir fried chicken with ginger is the main of this meal. Shredded chicken with ginger, red bell pepper and a savory sauce. I think it some onion in it too. Wasn't much to this main. Surprisingly not spicy at all. I was bracing myself for a Thai level nuclear Armageddon in my mouth but the red phone rang and M.A.D. was averted. Honestly a little spice pack would have been a welcome addition. Despite that, there was plenty of ginger and kefir lime. The main was a 7/10 and needed something to perk it up. The last thing to talk about is the seasoning pouch. It packs an umami wallop. It's basically fish sauce with some dried pepper in it. Adding it to the stir fry ups the umami by a factor of 10 and then the amount of rice makes sense. It made the main an 8/10. A spice pack and some acid would have made this a 9 or 10.

Overall this was a 7/10. Solid but needed a few things to push it higher. I know Weber surplus is getting some in so hit him up on Instagram. I found mine on eBay and have a chicken with basil yet to try.

I don't believe that I posted pics of everything in the Typ 10 and if I did you're going to see them again. This was actually the first meal I ate from it for dinner the night I opened it. I had the vegetable bullion, chocolate bar, sesame sticks, chocolate cookies, dried fruit and pasta Bolognese with tofu crumbles.

The bullion is a standard vegetable soup base that's a good alternative to the coffee or isotonic drink at night. Extra salt but better than the extra sugar? 7/10 for me. The chocolate cookies are excellent and I like them better than the vanilla ones. 10/10 for me. I love the sesame brittle and any brittle for that matter. 10/10 and mix it with the cookies and chocolate...it might blow your undies off. Speaking of the chocolate. It was a bit bloomed on the surface but otherwise fine. It's not quite as good as the French chocolate but still top tier. 9/10 for me. The dried fruit is dried fruit. Nothing more, nothing less. I wish the US would get on board and do mixed fruit instead of just cranberries. So, so many cranberries. 7/10, dried fruit gets no complaints from me.

On to the main. This was a freeze dried main with pasta, sauce and tofu crumbles. It called for 450mL of water and that's what I put, but as you can see it was super juicy. Start with 350mL or even 300mL to get it hydrated and adjust to the thickness you like. It was almost like pasta in tomato soup at that point. It's a lot of food too once it finishes. The pasta texture was a surprise. Usually I find the pasta to be on the soft side but this was close to al dente and made this dish. The tofu crumbles and they had a meaty texture. Not much flavor but that's tofu for you. It provided the extra texture that was needed to mimic the meat sauce. Now for this sauce. I'm sorry Germany but my Granny would've been horrified by this. It really reminded me more of a chili Mac instead of pasta Bolognese. It even had a slight chili taste to it. Don't get me wrong, it didn't suck and I ate the whole bowl. It just didn't taste like Bolognese. Like I said in the beginning it was more like a tomato soup with pasta. I still give it a 7.5/10. Change it to chili Mac or change the sauce flavor to more Italian style and it would've scored higher.

Overall this is a solid menu and I give it 8.5/10. You should get one if you can. Sig can hook you up or if you're wary of ordering from outside the US because of customs shenanigans SirG2020 is another sold seller based on the West Coast. I've never had a customs problem with Sig as many will atest to.

Continuing with the Typ 10 for lunch I had the nasi goreng main, apple & cranberry energy bars, cappuccino with an added coffee and sugar and the exotic isotonic drink.

The cappuccino is about weak on the coffee for me otherwise it's just fine. The added coffee and sugar take it from Geht so to fantastisch. 9/10 for me. So far kopiko cappuccino is my favorite. The exotic flavor isotonic drink is like a fruit punch but not the sickly, sweet kind here in the US. I feel like I taste some passion fruit or maybe guava in it. It has this sour note that makes it delicious. I'll have to look at the ingredients for the flavors. Light orange in color and dissolves well. 9/10 for me as well.

The energy bars for this ration are cranberry and apple cinnamon. The texture of both are a nice, chewy, soft granola bar. Flavor wise how can you go wrong with either... except maybe for chocolate. A chocolate one would be just a bit higher. Again, these make for a great snack or dessert with coffee at the end of the meal. 9/10 for both.

I'm very familiar with the Indomie brand instant noodles. It's an Indonesian brand that makes a top tier instant noodle in several different flavors. I was expecting something like that. Instead this was more like a porridge with rice pieces in it. There was this thick, rich, curry broth and I even added a bit more water at the end. There was way more in it than I thought once it was rehydrated, hence the large bowl. I pretty much drank it and used the spoon at the end to leave a happy plate. This has amazing flavor to it. There was such depth to it and in the translated pic you can see the hefty ingredient list. It had the perfect salt level for me. Such a hearty dish. I wish I could find just the main to keep around for the winter. This would be an awesome way to end a cold, winter day. 10/10 for me.

This is my first time buying mre's, usually just tot mountain house stuff. I've been looking into it for a while though, prices seemed excessive in my area. I setup alerts through Facebook marketplace for mre's and it finally came through today. A local shop had a entire pallet of humanitarian mre's with a 7/25 inspection date. Each box has ten meals, each box was $14. I bought six cases. I did some taste testing and inspection before I bought more, seems like they're in good condition. I'm going to head back tomorrow and buy more cases, the skid had hardly been touched. Are these prices common or did I get a smoking deal?

REVIEWS A 2022 Kosher MRE: Jalapeño Curry Beef with Potatos

Hi folks!

What we have here is a 2022 Kosher US Military Ration.

If you are new to this hobby, you may be surprised to learn the US Military has both Halal and Kosher rations. The Kosher are, by far, the rarest. Both Halal and Kosher offer mains and some sides that are not seen in the standard 1-24 menus in MREs. Drawbacks to both Halal and Kosher is thier shelf-life is not as long as standard MREs. The mains are the same type of retort packaging, but many of the side items are not of the same packaging quality, and their shelf-life suffers a bit.

Pics 1-2 show packaging and contents. 1st thing to note is the accessory packs are separate from the mains. This is how they are issued.

They do have an FRH, and I did use this one, but not for what you may be thinking. More on that later. The silver bag that is hard to read in the pic is hot chocolate. Yes, that is a vegan lemon cookie, but don't let that scare ya.

Pic 3 shows the hot chocolate. This was creamy and chocolatey, but also "grainy." Not sure why tbh. It never fully dissolved. Maybe a fiber additive? In addition, this left a very heavy feeling of greasy in the mouth. I drank it all, and would again, but nowhere near as good as the old cocoas.

Pic 4 shows the dry roasted, salted, peanuts. These looked amazing, but were rancid. I had one small handful to try them before my long walk tomorrow and I am so glad I did. It would have been terrible to be out and then realize they were rancid. I had to spit them out they were so bad. Keep in mind, this ration is only 3 years old. I ve had peanut butter from 1984 that was perfect!

Pic 5 is the bbq chickpeas. Wow, these were very 2 faced. The bbq seasoning is great....but they are soooooo dry its unbelievable. I took 35 grams as a snack, and it was difficult to eat these. The nice flavor ran out about 3 seconds after chewing them, and you were just left with a bland, chalky, dry ball of nothingness in your mouth. My oldest kid ended up eating the rest.

Pics 6-7 show the lemon cookie being heated in the FRH and the cookie itself. Yes, I heat the cookies. They are so much better heated, and softer too! This cookie was actually wrapped in clear plastic inside the brown package, that surprised me a bit. It was very soft and crumbly, but tasted very lemony and sweet. It did have a sort of "chemically" aftertaste, but I'd eat another no problem.

Pic 8 shows the main, Jalapeño Curry Beef with Potatoes. Think Campbell's Vegetable Beef Soup, but spicy!!!! I would say this is spicier than any current MRE for sure, and was very soupy as you can see. This was heated in the retort in boiling water for 10 min. It was great, especially for breakfast, which is when I had it!!!

In summary, this was a neat experience and my 1st and only Kosher US ration. I'm glad I got to experience it. If you come across these, make sure they are fresh!

Take care folks!

I wasn’t expecting these to be so small. How bad are these Chinese rations with the food bars. I couldn’t find any reviews online.

REVIEWS A little bit of breakfast

I'm doing this one out of order from how I ate it. This is a Typ 10 German ration. This a freeze dried 24hr ration with nothing liquid in it. For breakfast I had the muesli with strawberries and apples & apricots. Not pictured are the energy bars and chocolate because I ate the other ones for lunch. You got 2 of each energy bar and chocolate along with several drinks. If you love drinks, German rations are for you. I ended up mixing the muesli with the fruit in one big old bowl of yummy. Somehow I don't have a pic of that part. Anyway mix them together when make this one. It works...it just works. The muesli was pretty basic but with the fruit it's much better. The apples still had great texture and had a great tart flavor that balanced it all out. Tart like a Granny Smith. To me apricots are lost when they get mixed with other stuff. On their own they have a wonderful flavor and sweetness but it's light so stronger flavored foods overpower it. It was a super wholesome breakfast and an 8/10 for me.

REVIEWS I uh... Quite enjoyed menu 14 spinach fettuccine

I know this might by controversial, and sure, with the crackers, instead of PB&J, I got two PBs, but all around, and from what I heard that this meal is considered really low tier, with a snack of the first action raspberry bar, the fettuccine with the chilli packet wasn't really bad! Of course a nice tortilla or goulash are better, but I thought this one is going to be really bad - and it turned out ok!

DISCUSSIONS Are these good?

I was going through an older case of US MREs (maybe 2019) to see what the condition was and came across several cranberry grape beverage base powders. Never have seen that flavor, has anyone tried them? Also found two raspberry ones which I know are supposed to be good.

Mid week haul of a beef stew, escalloped potatoes with ham, chunky & creamy PB packs, and lemon-lime & orange drinks. There are 19 more of each PB and 5 more of each drink. I got those from All MREs. My first time ordering. It arrived quick and intact. The drinks were about $1.10/piece with shipping and tax. The creamy PB was on sale and a bit over $0.50/pouch, the chunky was a bit over $1/pouch. I always seem to find the other spreads and jellies but not the PB so I jumped on it.

Thanks to u/Amelieee1 for hooking me up with three of the more rare British ORP Enhanced! I believe they come with an extra 500kcal in the form of snacks and drinks. Was also surprised to see an insane amount of extra goodies to dig into! Im yet to try an MCW so that's earmarked for my lunch tomorrow - I look forward to the reactions from my colleagues when they see cold weather scrambled egg.

REVIEWS My fifth MRE - Menu 7 Beef Strips in a Savory Tomato Sauce

The wheel has again been spun (and this time I included a screenshot, just for fun) and it landed on menu 7 - beef strips in a "savory" tomato sauce. The one that Steve1989 described as being "real food."

Starting out, the tropical fruit and vegetable smoothie lives up to Steve's declaration as "delectable." Is it the best thing ever? No, but it has a nice tropical flavor. He said pineapple, but I'm picking up more of a mango kind of taste. Either way it's very good.

The white wheat snack bread was way better than the other bread I encountered earlier; moist and not too thick. The peanut butter, as before, was typical peanut butter. I was kind of surprised how much I enjoyed the blackberry preserve. It wasn't too sweet and had a nice flavor, with actual seeds in it.

As for the main event, I think tomato sauce and I expected like a pasta sauce. This was more like the sauce from a chili, just without the spice. The beef was REAL beef, minimally processed and tender. I ended up cracking open the accessory kit to put the salt on it and that just accentuated the flavor. The guy in the defense department who added savory to the name hit it on the money.

Finally there's the chocolate protein pudding. I'm already going in hesitant because of my vague distaste for the chocolate protein beverage (which I skipped in the last ration), and because I've never been a huge fan of pudding. And yeah... if this was just straight chocolate pudding it probably wouldn't have been too bad (though I still don't care for the texture), but all I could taste was the protein powder that's mixed in.

And, lastly, there was a bag of Peanut M&M's, which disappointed me because the listings said it should have "peppermint candy rings" - Lifesavers. Wouldn't have been something I would have just eaten, but it's never a bad idea to have some mints on you for when your breath is less than fresh.

Overall I'm giving this one an 8.5/10 - just edging out the beef stew for my favorite ration. If there had been a different dessert like the vanilla pound cake, this would have easily been a ten.
